ICC Under-19 World Cup 2020 - Tournament Thread

Ankolekar 6 overs for 11 runs to go with his 55 from 54 balls. Fantastic!

Do they have any phassssst bowlers though.? And what’s their speeds.

I don't even have a great idea about our own players let alone other teams lol Most of the things i learn while watching the match. I know there is one all rounder. Medium pacer and dasher down the order.

They lost to ZIM U19 as well few years back - that too Mughabe’s ZIM.

First U19 WC was played in Australia, Feb 1988, which they won. From that team I believe only Holdsworth played one ODI for Australia; though at that time McGrath, Warne, Slatter, Lehman, Hayden, Martyn, Fleming, Gilchrist, Langer were eligible by age. I think, they have a different formula for their cricket, which is extremely effective.

They don't take these seriously enough as a way to identify talent. As long as potential has been identified in the 18-24 age bracket, they are allowed to develop in Shield Cricket.

How many wickets from 6 overs?

Try to be a bit subtle, you are too obvious.

Anyway, given your love for India you are probably best off not watching this game, unless you are a masochist.

I am actually a big fan if Indian cricket team, the reason for that is because I am a cricket lover :)

He is scared of BD facing India in case they beat SA. He knows BD will get its clock cleaned against India. So he is rooting for Australia lol As an anti climax BD will lose to SA

Sad to see you holding such hatred for a fellow South Asian team...

That guy didn't even land on his head lol He got a concussion substitute ( a batsman) he is on 21 now.

You are the one who have been trying to troll here. HOnestly i don't care about our under-19 result. I just need good players from this That's it. Already have a couple of them.

Did Kohli pick up players from the last batch?

Don’t understand why Asian teams don’t support each other. Such a shame. I will always root for Asian teams vs any country not named India or South African. I am half Indian and half South African.

2008 U19 Australian had Steve Smith, Josh Hazzlewood, James Pattinson, Phillip Hughes, James Faulkner, and Marcus Stoinis

Fanning playing a lone hand here, but CRR is 3.5 and RRR is over 8, so this game is very likely India's.

Point was plenty of their top cricketers were never great at under 19 level. I don't think Cummins , Labuschagne and the names MMHS mentioned were great for their age but they went on to be great regardless. They develop rapidly after that age. Remember even Smith was a nothing player till he was 24 in 2013.

I live in Australia and believe me they take under 19 seriously. Only the best get in. That doesn't mean players csnt develop later in their 20s obviously. Infect many develop faster post 21.

Hard to call as i don't know about the ability of these players.

If I knew nothing at all about the teams (and I actually don't), but I saw the chasing team 5 wkts down, CRR 3.5 and RRR 8, I would not rate their chances highly.

And as I write, the RRR is up to 8.76.

They are competitive. What i meant is they don't allow them to tour a lot. Otherwise they are competitive in everything they do.

If India loses this then i’m seeing Aus winning this cup

But If India wins, they will imo win it

A half Indian and a half South African settled in Australia. Do you remember any missing links connecting Pakistan and England?

They lost to Pakistan in the quaterfinals but for me the biggest winner was Australia despite Kohli and Jadeja from India(India winning the WC). It doesn't matter who wins but the real winners are the one that produces the best talent for international cricket

u r exactly right!

India is in final because semi will be too easy for them. Neither of us or Afghan care not good enough to win over them.

TYagi man of the match or Atharva? both deserve it.

Yes, both did great. I would give it to Tyagi. Taking 3 Australian wickets in the first 2 overs put them in a hole they could never get out of.

Looks like an India vs Pakistan semi final in on the card :yk

Also assured place for Asian bloc in another final :kapil

Nah.
Equal imo

This Aus side drew with BD in the warmup and nearly lost to England.

Comes down to conditions. Today conditions favored their seam bowers. On a flat wicket they might strugled with their 128 k balls. Today conditions offered lot of movement. Also pitch had pace and bounce. This was the best chance for them to beat India.

Stop predicting.

The last time you predicted something you got humiliated soon after (emerging asia cup)

This time India sent far better team than that.
Also our batting is way to weak to score round 200 and bowling without Nasim is very average.
Haider Haris and Rohail are only threat.

Yes nothing to do with Jaiswal playing a Tendulkar’sque inning after initial meltdown or Tyagi Running through the Aus inning or Great fielding saving runs!

It’s all to do with toss that Australia won incidentally!

Lengths people go to downplay Indian team strength!
Those are still better analysis than coming up with fantasy scenarios, as you recently just did regarding Pakistan v Sri Lanka series. Don't expect yourself to be taken seriously here anymore

Bois played well.

Aussies fought hard but probably lost the game in 51's over of the game.

My analysis was right! It won’t be popular here I agree! I understand your support to him! Good for you!

Australia was unfortunate to meet India in QF!

India Under 19s win by 74 runs
India Under 19s - 233/9
Australia Under 19s - 159

Can anyone post the route to Final here with a reliable reference? At Wiki, I see IND - BD/SAF in one half of Final, but here I read other way. Wiki is not a reliable source and I couldn’t find anything in CI.

Normally, if every a Group champs go to SF, it happens to be A1-C1/B1-D1 (which Wiki shows) or A1-D1/B1-C1; but hardly ever A1-B1/C1-D1.

The commies were saying India are going to play either Pakistan or Afghanistan in the semi

Yes that's true.

One of Pakistan and Afghanistan will face India in semis
