Indeed. WV Raman who coached this side for the England tour had this to say:
“Nagarkoti can be quick, he does extract a fair bit of bounce and he has got real good fitness levels. And he is very athletic. All in all, he is a good package. He can also bat a little bit, he can go on to become an allrounder if he does pay a little bit of attention to his batting, and he is a fabulous fielder. Over the next 2-3 years, if his path is not hindered by things not in his control, I think he should be there in another three years’ time.”

Just read this on a facebook post: "While the progression of guys like Nagarkoti and Mawi into the senior team cannot be forecasted just yet but they probably would attract a handsome amount of money in the IPL auction later this month. Sadly, that's also where the prospects of them becoming good test fast bowlers start going downhill."

The Coca-Cola South Africa under-19s announced themselves with an emphatic, 169-run victory over Kenya in the 2018 ICC U19 World Cup at Lincoln Green Oval on Sunday. Captain, Raynard van Tonder led from the front, smashing 143 runs from 121 deliveries in his side’s opening match.
They posted a daunting 341/7 after winning the toss and electing to bat first, Van Tonder’s knock including 14 fours and five sixes. The innings was disturbed briefly when the youngsters lost Matthew Breetzke to the Kenyan skipper, Sachin Bhudia for seven at the end of the third over, but his opening partner Jiveshen Pillay (62 off 67) soldiered on, sharing a 125-run, third-wicket stand with Van Tonder, setting their side on course for a big score.
Another highlight of the South African batting innings was a 65-run burst that came from tail-enders, Gerald Coetzee and Jade de Klerk. The former and number nine batsman, smashed a sensational 14-ball 36 with the latter adding his own impressive 28 from 23 deliveries. Both returned unbeaten, moving the South Africans to an imposing 341/7 after they were sitting on 276 at the fall of the captain’s wicket.
Kenya managed 172/7 in their reply. Their top scorer was number seven batsman, Jasraj Kundi who hit 41 runs from 53 balls (5 fours), while number eight, Ankit Hirani returned unbeaten for 35 (58 balls, 2 fours). Everyone else could not surpass Bhudia’s 19 off 32.
Akhona Mnyaka and Kenan Smith (2/36) took two wickets each, Mnyaka the pick of the bowlers with figures of 2/9 in four overs, including a maiden.
An area South Africa will look to address will be the 18 runs in extras conceded, while Kenya bowled 12.
Van Tonder was named the Man of the Match.
The next World Cup Group A fixture for South Africa is this Wednesday, 17 January when they take on defending champions, West Indies at the Bay Oval in Tauranga.

From the moment India captain Prithvi Shaw won the toss and chose to bat, their opening game of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup went almost exactly to plan. There were top-order runs, late-innings blitzes, incisive fast bowling, tight spin bowling, and, for the most part, assured fielding, and Australia had no answer.
Shaw set the tone for the innings with a poised and powerful 94. The Mumbai batsman’s style and potential has drawn comparisons to Sachin Tendulkar, and he justified the praise throughout his innings, striking eight fours with his pristine, high-elbowed technique.
There were, however, a few moments of alarm. Having struck India’s first six of the tournament – a flowing blade sending the ball over long-on – Shaw was almost dismissed soon after, nicking to the keeper only to be reprieved when replays revealed that Will Sutherland, son of Australia CEO James, had overstepped. He was reprieved a second time, again off Sutherland, when he smashed a pull shot through the hands of deep backward square to move into the 90s, but was dismissed the very next ball, nicking off to fall six short of his ton.
All the while at the other end, less hyped but losing little in association with Shaw, was Manjot Kalra, who scored freely all around the ground during his 84. Their stand of 180 was the highest opening partnership for India in Under 19 World Cups, and their second-highest for any wicket.
Vice-captain Shubman Gill capitalised on their platform with a powerful 63 while Abhishek Sharma, with an 8-ball 23, provided the late flourish.
Australia's captain Jason Sangha tried everything he could to stem the Indian scoring, using eight bowlers in total, and taking a stunning catch to dismiss Kalra. Captains lead by example and lift their followers in times of troubles. That’s exactly what Mendis did. He didn’t let the Ireland bowlers weigh him down. Instead, he attacked as soon as he entered the field. There were boundaries in the two overs immediately after his arrival, and the running between wickets was exceptional. Most mis-fields and overthrows were capitalised on, leading to more fielding lapses.

The shackles were abandoned, and he played his shots – a lot of his runs came on the leg-side, his expertise with the pull particularly noteworthy. Nagarkoti has the pace, but seems lack he lacks a little bit of control, but he's not even 19 yet, so a serious prospect.

A magnificent 180 runs opening wicket stand between captain Prithvi Shaw and Manjot Kalra was the cornerstone of India’s thumping 100 runs victory over Australia in a battle of former champions on the second day of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2018 at the Bay Oval, Tauranga.
In front of broadcast cameras, Shaw scored a fine 94 and Kalra contributed 86 as India rattled up an imposing 328 for seven in 50 overs. Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi then equally shared six wickets between them as Australia were bowled out for 228 in 42.5 overs with Jack Edwards following uphis four for 65 with a gutsy 73.
Elsewhere, South Africa’s Raynard van Tonder hit a punishing 121-ball 143 to bat his side to an easy 189 runs victory over Kenya, while a brilliant century by Dhananjaya Lakshan (101 not out) and an impressive all-round performance by Kamindu Mendis (three for 35 and 74 not out) guided Sri Lanka to a convincing seven wickets victory over Ireland.
Australia v India
Electing to bat first in a Group B match, India posted a huge 328 for seven after Shaw (94) and Kalra (86) were associated in a record 180-run opening partnership in just under 30 overs. Then, Shubman Gill came up with a 54-ball 63 (54b, 4x6, 1x6) to put India in a dominating position.
Shaw struck eight fours and two sixes off 100 balls and Kalra slammed 12 fours and one six as the two bettered a 14-year-old record for India. The previous highest partnership for any wicket by an India pair was in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2004 when Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa put on 175 runs against Scotland.
For Australia, Jack Edwards was the pick of the bowlers and ended up with impressive figures of 9-0-65-4.
In their turn at the wicket, Australia lost wickets at regular intervals to be dismissed for 228. Kamlesh Nagarkoti picked up three for 29, while Mavi finished with three for 45.
Jack Edwards was his side’s most impressive player. He followed up his four for 65 with a 90-ball 73 that also included six fours and a six. He put on 57 runs for the first wicket with Max Bryant (29) and 60 runs for the third wicket with Jonathan Merlo (38).
India captain Prithvi Shaw said he was happy with the emphatic win early on.
“I think it was a good start for us and a positive one for us in the tournament. Our mind was clear - just wait for the loose balls. Really disappointed (at losing a chance to get a century), for Manjot as well, we have learnt something from this innings and will better in the next innings,” he said.
Ireland v Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka coasted to a convincing seven-wicket win over Ireland in a Group D match with opener Dhananjaya Lakshan slamming a fine unbeaten 101 from 120 deliveries with the help of eight fours and one six.
Sri Lanka, chasing 208 for victory, had lost two early wickets after a double-strike from Aaron Cowley and were 51 for three at one stage, before Lakshan’s unbroken 157-run partnership with captain Kamindu Mendis (74 not out) took the team through.
Earlier in the day, Mendis had also grabbed three for 35 with his spin bowling to restrict Ireland to 206 for eight in the 48-over match after openers Jamie Grassi (75) and Mark Donegan (36) had provided their side a 73-run start.
Lakshan later said he had not been bothered by the fall of early wickets and praised his captain.
“I’m very happy that I got a hundred today. I got a lot of support from our captain. When he walked in, our first target was to make sure we got close to the opposition total. We set small targets and achieved it.”

Australia v India
Electing to bat first in a Group B match, India posted a huge 328 for seven after Shaw (94) and Kalra (86) were associated in a record 180-run opening partnership in just under 30 overs. Then, Shubman Gill came up with a 54-ball 63 (54b, 4x6, 1x6) to put India in a dominating position.
Shaw struck eight fours and two sixes off 100 balls and Kalra slammed 12 fours and one six as the two bettered a 14-year-old record for India. The previous highest partnership for any wicket by an India pair was in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2004 when Shikhar Dhawan and Robin Uthappa put on 175 runs against Scotland.
For Australia, Jack Edwards was the pick of the bowlers and ended up with impressive figures of 9-0-65-4.
In their turn at the wicket, Australia lost wickets at regular intervals to be dismissed for 228. Kamlesh Nagarkoti picked up three for 29, while Mavi finished with three for 45.
Jack Edwards was his side’s most impressive player. He followed up his four for 65 with a 90-ball 73 that also included six fours and a six. He put on 57 runs for the first wicket with Max Bryant (29) and 60 runs for the third wicket with Jonathan Merlo (38).
India captain Prithvi Shaw said he was happy with the emphatic win early on.
“I think it was a good start for us and a positive one for us in the tournament. Our mind was clear - just wait for the loose balls. Really disappointed (at losing a chance to get a century), for Manjot as well, we have learnt something from this innings and will better in the next innings,” he said.
Ireland v Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka coasted to a convincing seven-wicket win over Ireland in a Group D match with opener Dhananjaya Lakshan slamming a fine unbeaten 101 from 120 deliveries with the help of eight fours and one six.
Sri Lanka, chasing 208 for victory, had lost two early wickets after a double-strike from Aaron Cowley and were 51 for three at one stage, before Lakshan’s unbroken 157-run partnership with captain Kamindu Mendis (74 not out) took the team through.
Earlier in the day, Mendis had also grabbed three for 35 with his spin bowling to restrict Ireland to 206 for eight in the 48-over match after openers Jamie Grassi (75) and Mark Donegan (36) had provided their side a 73-run start.
Lakshan later said he had not been bothered by the fall of early wickets and praised his captain.
“I’m very happy that I got a hundred today. I got a lot of support from our captain. When he walked in, our first target was to make sure we got close to the opposition total. We set small targets and achieved it.”

Given the short-and-sweet nature of the round-robin stage of the ICC Under 19 Cricket World Cup, teams that lose their opening encounters usually find themselves in a do-or-die scenario soon after. At the Cobham Oval in Whangarei on Tuesday (16 January), it will be Ireland and Pakistan striving to avoid defeat. Having lost to Sri Lanka and Afghanistan respectively, victory is imperative for both sides – a defeat will mean elimination.
Form guide
A middle-order collapse is what cost Pakistan in that opening match against Afghanistan. Rohail Nazir’s 81 had set things up nicely for them, but they were snuffed out for 188. Their bowlers then did well to reduce Afghanistan to 50/3 but couldn’t capitalise, Darwish Rasooli scoring 76 to give Afghanistan the victory. Despite that, Pakistan should have enough in them to keep Ireland at bay, especially given the fact that they recently reached the Under 19 Asia Cup final, seeing off all of Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and UAE en route.
Ireland might have suffered a seven-wicket loss to Sri Lanka, but they had their moments. Jamie Grassi impressed considerably during his 75, and Ireland could have had Sri Lanka under the pump had they capitalised on their 73-run opening stand. They also impressed with the ball, reducing Sri Lanka to 9/2 and 51/3 before Dhananjaya Lakshan and Kamindu Mendis took it away from them. Expect them to push Pakistan hard.

Rohail Nazir looked in good touch against Afghanistan, and Ireland will have to keep an eye on him.
What stood out about Rohail Nazir when he batted against Afghanistan was his composure. He faced up to an aggressive Naveen-ul-Haq, the Afghanistan captain, and rode the storm when wickets fell around him. During the course of his 81, Pakistan looked to have bounced back after early setbacks, and it is only after he was dismissed that Afghanistan truly got a foothold on the innings. He is certainly in good nick, and Ireland will need to find a way past him if they are to entertain hopes of toppling Pakistan.
Pakistan will have to pay extra attention on Joshua Little.
For a while during the clash against Sri Lanka, it seemed as though Ireland would struggle to even cross 200. That they eventually posted 207 had a lot to do with Little. His 19-ball 25 added power and intensity to the innings, and he looks the type capable of muscling sixes almost at will. With the ball, he is a hard worker and deceptively quick. Given the fact that he has already made his full international debut in T20Is, Pakistan might have to pay extra attention to him.

Middle-order batsman Tawhid Hridoy hit a superb century and Afif Hossain produced a fine all-round performance as Bangladesh defeated Canada by 66 runs to notch up their second victory in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2018 and strengthened their chances of progressing to the Super League stage from Group C.
Tawhid scored 122 and Afif backed up his half-century with figures of five for 43 as Bangladesh successfully defended 264 for eight by dismissing Canada for 198 with three balls to spare. Bangladesh, who had finished third in the home event in 2016, had earlier beaten Namibia by 87 runs on the opening day of the tournament on Saturday.
In the other Group C match of the day, England launched their campaign with an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Namibia after Will Jacks (73 not out) and Harry Brook (59 not out) added 130 runs for the unbroken third wicket in just under 15 overs as the 1998 champions achieved the 197-run target with more than half the quota of overs remaining.

Canada fast bowler Faisal Jamkhandi was the pick of the bowlers, effective with both the new ball and the old. He finished with figures of 8-0-48-5 that included the important scalps of Pinak Ghosh (0) and Tawhid.

India won the toss and chose to bowl, and their eventual victory was set up by their bowlers, and especially left-arm spinner Anukul Roy, who showed that India’s attack is about much more than their quicks, taking 5/14.
It was those quicks, however, with ball and in the field, who started things off, reducing Papua New Guinea to 40/3 by the end of their opening spells. Shivam Mavi took the two wickets to fall to a bowler, and though his radar wasn’t completely functioning, when he got it right he was almost unplayable.
The first to fall was Igo Mahuru, struck on the pad by one that swung back in a long way, and Heagi Toua soon followed, castled by an inch-perfect yorker. Kamlesh Nagarkoti was not to be out done, swooping in from point and nailing the stumps at the non-strikers, catching Simon Atai backing up too far, a shame since he had looked the most comfortable against pace, nailing a couple of pull shots.
Captain Vagi Karaho came and went, falling for the bait of one that wasn’t quite full or wide enough to drive and edging to the keeper, and from then on it was the Anukul Roy show, one searing yorker from Kamlesh Nagarkoti excepted. The spinner wasn’t turning the ball prodigiously, but used the arm ball to good effect, as utilising flight excellently.
It was expected before the game that pace woult seal the deal, with PNG unlikely to have faced bowlers even 10 kph slower than what India could offer, and they’ll surely be disappointed to have been undone by a slow bowler, and especially to suffer a collapse as dramatic as 6/3, as they did at the end of their innings. But no disservice deserves to be done to how well Anukul Roy bowled.
The chase was a formality, and Prithvi Shaw, batting without pressure, took the chance to enjoy himself, going aerial often, and hogging the strike and scoring quickly enough that he made 57 of India’s 67/0, his innings comprising 39 balls and featuring 12 fours. He will rarely have it easier, and still survived a chance, getting too far under one which cover just failed to cling on to running back, but this was another demonstration of the class which is so evident, and which we’ll surely be seeing much more of not just in this tournament, but in years to come.

Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy finished with a superb haul of five for 14 as three-time champions India completed a facile 10-wicket victory over Papua New Guinea (PNG) for a second successive win at the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup that took them closer towards qualification for the Super League stage.
Roy’s haul followed a fine spell by opening bowlers Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti as PNG could only set a measly 65-run target in the Group B match played in front of broadcast cameras in Tauranga. Captain Prithvi Shaw then knocked up a neat half-century as the target was achieved in only eight overs.
In the other match of the day, 17-year-old Shaheen Afridi produced the best bowling figures for his country in an ICC U19 Cricket World Cup as two-time former champions Pakistan bounced back in style after their five-wicket loss to Afghanistan with an easy nine-wicket victory over Ireland.
The tall left-arm fast bowler grabbed six for 15, the fifth best figures in the tournament to date, as Ireland were bowled out for 97 in 28.5 overs in a Group D match in Whangarei. Pakistan got to the target in only 8.5 overs to brace up for their last match against Sri Lanka on Friday.

The target of 65 was achieved quickly as Shaw hit 12 fours in his 39-ball 57 not out and the floodlights were never needed in the day-night match. India, who defeated Australia by 100 runs in their first game, play their last league match against Zimbabwe here on Friday.
Roy, who idolises India spinner Ravindra Jadeja, said: “I thought there would not be much help in the pitch for bowlers so I decided to concentrate on line and length. I got the desired results and am thankful to the support and guidance I received from the team management.”

IRELAND CRUSHED BY PAKISTAN IN U19 WORLD CUP
Ireland Under 19's slumped to an emphatic nine-wicket loss against Pakistan in their second World Cup game in New Zealand to all but end their hopes of qualification for the quarter-finals.
Pakistan paceman Shaheen Afridi blitzed the Ireland batting on his way to figures of 6 for 15 - the best recorded at this level by any of his countrymen.
There was little sign of the carnage to come as Jamie Grassi (13) and Mark Donegan (11) shared an opening stand of 20, but a flurry of wickets saw Ireland reeling at 34 for 4.
Sam Murphy (19) and Neil Rock (8) staged a mini recovery adding 30 for the 5th wicket, with the Rush left-hander showing considerable courage after being struck on the helmet by a bouncer.
However Afridi and Hasan Khan (3-16) sparked another collapse as five wickets fell for just 13 to leave Ireland on the brink at 77 for 9.
Pembroke all-rounder Josh Little thumped an unbeaten 24, but it only allowed the Irish to reach a total of 97.
Pakistan, mindful that NRR could be a factor in qualification, wasted no time in chasing down their meagre target, racing to victory in just 53 balls.
Muhammad Zaid Alam hit 7 fours and a six in an unbeaten 43 from just 19 deliveries, with Rohail Nazir (18) and skipper Hasan Khan (27*) also fluent in a very one-sided affair.

"It's been a disappointment today where we just didn't perform to our capabilities," said Tector. "We've not only let ourselves down, but the supporters out here and our country too and that's disappointing.
"I thought that the Pakistan attack and Shaheen in particular bowled quite accurately and didn't let up on us at all. They used their pace attack and the short ball very effectively. I don't think it's a case of us not being able to play or being afraid of the short deliveries, but just that they executed them quite well.
"We will have learned a lot from this experience and we'll go away and lick our wounds and regroup and come back stronger for the next match against Afghanistan."
Ireland's final group match is on Saturday, when they take on Afghanistan at the same venue.

Jakob Bhula notched up the highest individual score in the history of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup as New Zealand recorded a 243 run win over Kenya in their second pool game at Hagley Oval in Christchurch.

The 18-year-old finished on 180 with 10 fours and five sixes, while fellow opener Rachin Ravindra also posted a century and Finn Allen cameoed with a quick-fire 90 as New Zealand ended on 436-4 from their 50 overs.
Batting first, New Zealand were set at 99-0 after 20 overs, when Bhula and Ravindra began to up the ante. Ravindra took the role on as the aggressor, while Bhula put the bad ball away as they hit 85 runs off the next 10 overs to be 184-0 at the 30 over mark.
Bhula enjoyed plenty of strike and was first to reach triple figures in the 32nd over, with Ravindra joining him in the 35th as the pair became the eighth and ninth New Zealanders respectively to score a century at a ICC U19 World Cup.
The pair broke the record for the highest first wicket partnership of 245 along the way, before Ravindra was out stumped for 117 off 101 deliveries.
That brought Allen to the crease, brimming with confidence after his century against the West Indies. Allen and Bhula increased the run rate further, putting together 156 runs off just 67 balls, with Allen plundering 14 boundaries as New Zealand eyed a total well over 400.
Bhula continued his brilliant knock, overtaking a 16-year-old record for the highest individual score, before he was run out for 180.
That dismissal began a small collapse of three wickets in as many balls, before some late hitting from Dale Phillips helped the hosts through to 436-4, the second highest total in the tournament’s history.
New Zealand’s only real threat standing in their way of a win was the weather. Rain delayed the start of Kenya’s chase before spinners Ben Lockrose and Ravindra hurried few their first few overs in case of further showers.
Fortunately, the clouds cleared, as New Zealand restricted Kenya to 193-4, with Ravindra once again leading the way with best figures of 2-33 from 10 overs.
New Zealand now head to Tauranga ahead of their final pool game against South Africa on Saturday, looking to remain unbeaten ahead of the knockout stages.

The opening wicket partnership set the tone for more onslaught as Finn Allen joined the party with a belligerent 90 that resulted in New Zealand notching a mammoth 436 for four, the second highest total in ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.

Elsewhere, Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka by 32 runs to become the first side to qualify for the Super League from Group D. This result means the winner of Sri Lanka and Pakistan match on Friday, 19 January in Whangarei will become the second side to progress to the Super League from Group D.
In the fourth and last match of the day, Australia coasted to a comfortable seven wickets victory over Zimbabwe to notch up their first win in Pool B. On Friday, 19 January, Australia will take on Papua New Guinea and India will meet Zimbabwe, and if both Australia and India win their matches, they will qualify for the Super League.
New Zealand v Kenya
New Zealand openers Bhula and left-hander Ravindra made Kenya captain Sachin Bhudia repent his decision to field first as the pair added 245 runs in less than 36 overs, providing Allen the launching pad as the home side finished at 436 for four in their 50 overs.
Bhula smashed 10 fours and five sixes off 144 deliveries. He was in sight of the maiden double-century in U19 cricket, but was run-out with three overs remaining. Nevertheless, his innings bettered the previous highest individual score of 179 not out by Australia’s Theo Doropoulos against England in 2003. The previous highest in U19 CWCs was 176 was in the name of Donovan Pagon, which the Windies batsman had scored against Scotland in 2002.
Ravindra matched Bhula stroke-by-stroke as he clubbed eight fours and three sixes in an entertaining 101-ball 117. Their partnership was the second best for any wicket in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.
Later, Allen’s 40-ball 90 (8x4, 6x6) further inflated the total, which is second only to Australia’s record score of 480 for six, which also came against Kenya in 2002.
Kenya never went for the target and played out the 50 overs to finish with 193 for four. Opener Aman Gandhi scored 63 off 106 deliveries while Thomas Ochieng made an unbeaten 39 off 47. Ravindra followed up his century with two for 33 bowling his left-arm spin.
Bhula, who was later named player of the match, said: “It’s a really big win for us and we really wanted to come here today and make our mark. I think we did that putting 430 on the board, and to go out and bowl like we did today, we were really happy. I thought we bowled really well, probably lacked in the field a little, but that’s a work-on for the next game.”
Afghanistan v Sri Lanka
Afghanistan qualified for the Super League with a 32-run victory over Sri Lanka in a rain-reduced match Group D match in Whangarei.
Put in to bat, Afghanistan posted a formidable total of 284 for seven with Ibrahim Zadran (86, 112b, 1x4, 5x6) the top-scorer and Darwish Rasool (63) and Ikram Ali (55) coming good for a second time in the tournament following useful contributions in the five-wicket win over Pakistan on the opening day.
Sri Lanka, whose target was revised to 235 from 38 overs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method following a rain interruption, were bowled out for 202 in 37.3 overs. Afghanistan captain and new-ball bowler Naveen-ul-Haq followed his three-wicket haul against Pakistan with figures of four for 35 while Azmatullah Omarzai and Qais Ahmed finished with identical figures of two for 37.
Jehan Daniel (48), Krishan Arachige (41), Ashen Bandara (38) and captain Kamindu Mendis (32) all got good starts but Sri Lanka missed the one big knock that could take them through.
South Africa v Windies
Wicketkeeper-batsman Wandile Makwetu missed a well-deserved century by one run as South Africa recovered from 112 for five to 282 for eight.
Makwetu clubbed 12 fours and a six in a 99-ball 99 not out. Makwetu added 58 runs for the sixth wicket with Kenan Smith (22), and 67 runs for the eighth wicket with Gerald Coetzee (29) after South Africa were provided a solid 56-run start by openers Jiveshan Pillay (47) and Matthew Breetzke (18).
In their run-chase, the Windies slipped from 177 for four in the 38th over to be bowled out for 206 in 45.3 overs. Alick Athanage (76, 100b, 6x4, 1x6) and Kirstan Kallicharan (44) were the star Windies batsmen as they put on 90 runs for the fifth wicket.
Hermann Rolfes was the standout South Africa bowler when he recorded figures of 10-3-33-4, while Gerald Coetzee and Jade de Klerk picked up two wickets apiece. Makwetu had an overall good day when he also accounted for three batsmen behind the wickets.
South Africa captain Raynard van Tonder was relieved to have won: “The match was closer than what the scorecard suggests. I think we put up a good team effort and it was good to get some runs down the order because that will help us during the tournament.”
Windies captain Emmanuel Stewart said his players would look forward to their remaining matches:
“We can’t change what has happened but we need to regroup as a team and do our best in the remaining matches. We are disappointed at not having made the Super League but there is still a lot to play for and we are looking forward to our other matches.”

Australia completed a comfortable seven-wicket win over Zimbabwe after having lost their opening match to India by 100 runs.
Zimbabwe, who had beaten Papua New Guinea by 10 wickets in their first match, were bowled out for 134 in 33.2 overs by the three-time champions with pace bowler Xavier Bartlett accounting for the top three batsmen and reducing Zimbabwe to 35 for three by the 19th over. All-rounder Will Sutherland and spinner Lloyd Pope followed up with two wickets each, conceding 21 and 31 runs, respectively.
Australia achieved the target in only 18.2 overs with openers Max Bryant (44) and Jack Edwards (40) producing quick knocks and captain Jason Sangha (30) taking the team closer to the target.

The aspiring Proteas started off with a solid, 56-run opening stand between Pillay and Matthew Breetzke before the latter was caught and bowled by Jarion Hoyte for 18. Captain, Raynard van Tonder could not follow up his sensational 147-run knock from the team’s previous match and instead, was run out without scoring a run.
Soon after, the match took a turn when Pillay (47) was dismissed for obstructing the field after picking up the ball and passing it to the keeper when it had stopped beside the stumps off an inside edge. We never beat Wycombe House in all of the games we played against them even though on paper our team was better each time. He was ok, we were in awe of the fact that he was only 15 at the time and was opening for a very respectful club.
The guy you need to watch out for is Tom Smith from MCC. He is three times more Talented than Savin, as I have seen both very closely. Tom smith was smashing those spinners who win games for their clubs for fun, reverse sweeps for sixes just for fun

With Wycombe House they opened with an ex fc cricketer from Pakistan, he did most of the damage up front with the bat. So I remember both Savin and Mahboob are left handed openers, and I like bowling to left handers as an offie. Mehboob was miles, miles ahead of Savin when I bowled to both around the wicket. Savin would look to defend most and play The occasional one for the single. Not so confident to the club's second choice off spinner. Mehboob was very good at playing the ball according to the turn, not easy to bowl to I must say

Captain Harry Brook scored a fine century as England defeated Bangladesh by seven wickets at the John Davies Oval in Queenstown today to put themselves in line to top Group C in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.
Brook’s 102 not out was supplemented with a fine all-round effort of 48 not out and three for 26 by Euan Woods as the 1998 champions completed a second straight win. England are at par with Bangladesh on four points and a win over Canada on Saturday will enable them to top the group with six points, also making Bangladesh as the second side to qualify for the Super League quarterfinals.
Canada remained in contention for a place in the Super League quarterfinals from Group C when they defeated Namibia by four wickets at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval in Christchurch. However, to reach the Super League quarterfinals, they will have to convincingly beat England so that they can improve their net run-rate, which currently sits at -0.277 as compared to England’s +3.27 and Bangladesh’s +0.43.

Yes played against him too... and agree he is far more talented.watched few of his baseball style 6s and reverse sweeps ... Call him the white Pakistani ... immensely talented but prone to the inevitable brain fade. In the return fixture, we fed him one 6 and then bowled the same delivery but quicker, he played the same shot but was slightly late and got lbw....
We beat them couple of times I think, Savin never really stood out. We were far too occupied with dealing with their trial by spin! Both times there was an almighty ruckus.... one of which led to few game ban for their main man. He is the best bowler I ever faced! Flight, indrift, dip and viscous turn away. You know at his previous club, he use to open the bowling and batting with Stuart meaker (Surrey and briefly England).

Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy took four for 20 and Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 90 to help India fashion a 10-wicket victory over Zimbabwe, while opener Nathan McSweeney slammed 156 and fast bowler Jason Ralston produced a record haul of seven for 15 as Australia thumped Papua New Guinea by 311 runs as the two former champions progressed to the Super League quarterfinals from Group B on the seventh day of the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup 2018 on Friday.
Also joining in the Super League quarterfinals were former champions Pakistan who defeated Sri Lanka by three wickets in a Group D match. Pakistan will now wait for the outcome of the Afghanistan versus Ireland match on Saturday in Whangarei to find out if they will top the group or finish runners-up.
The three sides have now joined Afghanistan, England, New Zealand and South Africa, while the England and Canada match on Saturday will decide if Bangladesh also goes through to the Super League quarterfinals, which will start on Monday, 22 January.
Roy, who had finished with five wickets in the previous match against PNG, bowled an immaculate line and length as India dismissed the opposition for only 154 and got to the target in quick time with openers Shubman Gill and Aveet Desai returning unbeaten on 90 and 56, respectively. The three-time champions finished with three wins, including a 100-run victory over Australia earlier in the league, which proved decisive in the final standings.
For Australia, who finished behind India in the group stage, Ralston ripped through the PNG batting, his seven for 15 the best-ever to date in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup and second best at the U19 level. His effort came at the back of another remarkable effort, when opener Nathan McSweeney clobbered a punishing 156 to help post a huge 370 for eight.

Australia took a firm grip immediately after being asked to bat first and scored a huge 370 for eight.
McSweeney smashed 18 fours and four sixes off 111 balls for his 156, the joint-sixth highest individual score in the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup.
He dominated a 250-run stand for the second wicket with captain Jason Sangha (88, 102b, 5x4, 2x6) against the hapless East Asia Pacific qualifiers and then Param Uppal produced a brisk 42-ball 61 to inflate the total further.
For PNG, James Tau, Leke Morea, Sema Kamea and Daure Aiga grabbed two wickets each, but could not stem the flow of runs and their batting too struggled as they were bowled out for 59 in 24.5 overs.
Ralston became only the third bowler in the history of the tournament to finish with seven scalps. The previous record stood in the name of Sri Lanka leg-spinner Jeevan Mendis, who grabbed seven for 19 against Zimbabwe in 2002 while New Zealand pace bowler Trent Boult’s seven for 20 against Malaysia in 2008 is the only other instance of a bowler taking seven wickets.

Bro, why most if not all of your top order bats so slow when your no.1 tailender or bowling all-rounder hits 6s,4s easily. I am talking about Josh little. I have seen this pattern in this tournament so far. Your batters bat too slow under 3.5 RR and Josh often does the damage control. I know probably as a nol8 player he might be just another good slogger hit & miss type of player. But still is there no smart attacking player up the front. I would say experiment little up the order.

Grassi is very attacking. Hes blunted it in this tournament because obviously the team isnt made of star batsmen and need to bat conservatively to set a platform for Little and Kennedy to kick on from.
Top order set the platform, middle order failed, lower order rebuilt and all rounders kicked on.
I'm delighted with that. Remember, this is against the best team in the tournament arguably.
I reckon this is the most runs AFG have had to chase in months!
