The crowds would have been terrible in Aus and SA as well. Eng would get similar numbers but it wouldn’t look as bad because if their hobbit stadiums. This WC has been disastrous so far from a crowd attendances point of view. Some people are complaining that it is still too warm to play cricket in India right now. The crowds would have been much better if the tournament was held in England, Australia, South Africa
Much as a I dislike most things coming out of Gujarat, I think a 50 or 100 will be greeted with polite applause.Brilliant crowd today.
14th will be electric too but silence for Pakistan boundaries, wickets is certain.
Cheers for sharing that
Depends mate, if it's a 50 or a 100 coming when 80 odd needed 20 odd deliveries, then there will be more appreciation or a five fer with scorecard at 400-the crowd will be a lot more vocal. Unless I have got it wrong Mohali 2011 crowd wasnt that partisan, offcourse a lot of water's flowing under the bridge since then....Much as a I dislike most things coming out of Gujarat, I think a 50 or 100 will be greeted with polite applause.
Felt like it today.Right from day one I have been saying Pakistan has been given a good schedule, in 3 out of 5 venues (Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai) it will be like home game for them.
I am sure if and when India travels to pakistan they will get the same level of support if not more. Especially Kohli (and also SKY if its t20). The divide is amongst the military and political party on either side not the common man.Fantastic support for Pakistan.
The locals cheered more for Pakistan than Sri Lanka, which I was surprised about.
Babar and Rizwan seem to be favourites with the Hyderabad fans.
I think Asian games played a role too as India was doing very well until it ended on Saturday. Although not full houses we can see decent crowds for non-India matches.Slowly with temperature goes down crowd will Automatically came .
How much is the ground capacity & the official figures from ICC for yesterday's match? And credit to the Indian fans who have cheered the Pakistan team loudly today.
Babar and Rizwan seem to be big favourites of the Indian crowds.
Sri Lanka South Africa match had good crowds.expect full crowds for all India games, obviously. I doubt there will be any for Sena nations matches.
Like seriously bro.Sri Lanka South Africa match had good crowds.
Pakistan Sri Lanka had good crowds. What else is expected from a neutral country ?
Like seriously!!!!!!!!! In 2019 how many british white people did you see for Pakistan vs South africa. Almost all were british Pakistanis. same for all Indian and Bangladeshi matches it was filled with their supporters. I guess when its India biasness blinds rationale.expect full crowds for all India games, obviously. I doubt there will be any for Sena nations matches.
Read the message again. I mentioned “SENA” nations didn’t include asian countries. Aus v SA should been packed big game two big teams.Sri Lanka South Africa match had good crowds.

Lot of Kashmiris have business or work in Hyderabad, I won’t be surprised if this was a group of Kashmiri crowd chanting “ jeetay ga Bhai jeetay ga Pakistan Jeetay ga”.I was shocked when crowd started chanting "jeetay ga bhai jeetay ga Pakistan jeetay ga"
Boss the whole crowd was chanting it and the DJ was also doing it on the loud speakerLot of Kashmiris have business or work in Hyderabad, I won’t be surprised if this was a group of Kashmiri crowd chanting “ jeetay ga Bhai jeetay ga Pakistan Jeetay ga”.
I don't think the Indian population cares about the WC. Given the most fans only show up for the second half. Which by the way is understandable, given that people are free in the evening.Read the message again. I mentioned “SENA” nations didn’t include asian countries. Worlds most populated nation, cricket number one sport, all matches should be packed. Once in a life time opportunity for many to attend and see CWC real life!
Gone are teh days Kashmiris used to cheer for Pakistan. Just go on youtube and check out Kashmiri youtubers. Their hasn't been a single stone pelting incident, hartal or pakistan ki naare in 4 years. Lal Chowk which used to be wrapped in Pakistani flags now has a permanent Indian flag. 1000s attended Independence day celebrations in Srinagar. You seem to live in a cocoon happily being fed on the propaganda by your media. Children now attend school every day with no bandhs or hartals being called.Lot of Kashmiris have business or work in Hyderabad, I won’t be surprised if this was a group of Kashmiri crowd chanting “ jeetay ga Bhai jeetay ga Pakistan Jeetay ga”.
Its foolish to expect packed crowds for non-india matches. Firstly, this is ODI WC which means people need to come to stadium 3 hours before match starts and stay on for another 7-8 hours. This means they need to take leave from jobs, bunk colleges etc to attend it. Maybe if this match was in Bengaluru and ABD was playing it would have been packed as ABD is considered as son of Karnataka. None of these current players have the craze to pull full stadium crowds. Secondly, in the afternoon its hot so people prefer to come in the evening when its cooler. Thirdly, India is no longer a one sport nation and we have started following and playing other sports too. Fourthly, its not a once in a life time opportunity as India is hosting and co-hosting many more ICC events in the next few years. Just check ICC calendar. So even if people miss this they can attend anotehr ICC event in just a few years.Read the message again. I mentioned “SENA” nations didn’t include asian countries. I was only stating the fact, didn’t intend to rub anyone on the wrong side. I for a fact know that there were a lot of Kashmiris in the ground cheering for Pakistan and this “ Jeetay ga Bhai Jeetay ga Pakistan Jeetay ga” is a very Kashmiri thing to do or say whenever Pakistan plays anywhere in the world. Not saying the Pakistanis or the others don’t do it but We Kashmiris have been doing it for years while even watching Pakistan games on TV and I m sure that some Kashmiri from the crowd wd hv started it and then it wd hv taken off. And, talking about the current situation in kashmir which looks normal to the Indians is only due to the reign of terror that’s been unleashed by the Modi govt on the Kashmiris in last 8-10 years. There’s nothing normal in kashmir though it may seems so to some but it’s anything but normal. Lastly, people who are far from reality and don’t know what’s happening on the ground and form their opinions by watching some sponsored YouTube videos and propaganda driven news channels are the ones actually living in a cocoon..Gone are teh days Kashmiris used to cheer for Pakistan. Just go on youtube and check out Kashmiri youtubers. Their hasn't been a single stone pelting incident, hartal or pakistan ki naare in 4 years. When people are giving you love why cant you juat accept it without bringing Kashmir or muslims into it or is it a case of Izzat hazam nahin hoti.
Yep, I would have also wanted to stay away if Pakistan won. Will be dangerous.I wouldn't want to be one of the few Pakistani fans in the stadium today if India lose.
Anything is possible.
And they watched a classic.England vs Afghanistan match has good crowd .26,440
Did you think this WC is played in Aus or Eng? No alcohol is sold in Indian stadiums. They should give away tickets free
They will make their money back with the alcohol vendors
Will there be champagne on the pitch for whoever wins the trophy?Did you think this WC is played in Aus or Eng? No alcohol is sold in Indian stadiums.
Not on the ground. It maybe available inside closed doors. Will there be champagne on the pitch for whoever wins the trophy?
Kashmiris have always cheered for them. You are going into a political debate which I don't want to get into here. I being a Kashmiri myself always support Pakistan and I don't know of anyone in my family who doesn't. Of the people I know may be 5% do not support PakistanGone are teh days Kashmiris used to cheer for Pakistan. Just go on youtube and check out Kashmiri youtubers. I think 130k are from ind vs pak matchHISTORY
5,42,000 fans attended World Cup 2023 in stadiums till midway of the tournament.
It is more than 1,90,000 from the 2019 World Cup.
Yes 20k+ spectators were there to watch the game. Those numbers are full capacity of most of stadiums in England and NzYesterday pak vs South Africa crowd was very good in numbers and supporting pakistan
I think 130k are from ind vs pak match![]()
If u deduct 30k too, 100k is a big number. But,I agree with u they should release the official figures.what they will do for the finals with out official figures. The BCCI refused to release the official attendance for that game because it would result in them having to admit the capacity is not 132k.
Crowd seems to be less in numbers for todays game between Bangladesh and Netherlands at Eden Gardens, Kolkata
I wouldn't call it a 50 -50 split. Muslims in the crowd were disproportionately pro PAK and the rest were disproportionately pro NZ. It was definitely more of a pro NZ crowdView attachment 138722View attachment 138723Yesterday marked my first visit to the stadium during this World Cup, and it turned out to be an unexpectedly memorable match. New Zealand displayed their ruthlessness in the first innings, keeping the crowd on their toes. Then, Fakhar and Babar joined in, and the stadium was treated to a barrage of sixes at Chinnaswamy.
Speaking of the crowd, the stadium was nearly 80-85% full, with only a few empty seats. I had purchased a 3k ticket from Bookmyshow but didn't initially get the assigned seat. The Bookmyshow crew suggested I sit anywhere, which was a bit unusual. However, I was determined to follow the rules and eventually found my assigned seat during the second innings. Overall, the Karnataka Cricket Association managed the event well, offering a variety of snacks, including sweet corn, bhel puri, beverages, cut fruits, pizza, rolls, biryani, and more.
Now, let's talk about the crucial aspect: crowd support. I believe Bangaloreans, as usual, did not disappoint. They behaved sensibly and respectfully. Both teams received tremendous support, and it felt like a 50-50 split in the crowd. Rachin received standing ovations for every boundary, given his Bangalore connection. When Babar fielded near the boundary, the crowd chanted his name, even those wearing Indian jerseys. The respect and aura surrounding Babar cannot be expressed in words.
There were a few chants of "Zimbaber" (just 2-3 times throughout the match), taken as friendly banter. Some people chanted, "Tel lagao Dabur ka, Naam mitao Babar kaa" only 1-2 times when Babar batted. However, as he started playing brilliant shots, everyone was amazed and continued to support him. Some slogans like "Haray gaa bhai Haray gaa Pakistan Haray Gaa" were heard from a handful of people, and both sets of fans enjoyed it. The diverse crowd, including Muslims and people from other faiths, showed immense support for Pakistan.
Outside the stadium, various merchandise like caps, t-shirts, and face paint services were available. Most cart owners sold Indian jerseys, but many people had Pakistan jerseys beneath their clothing. Inside the stadium, about 20% of the crowd wore Pakistan jerseys with "Babar" written on them. After the match, people were still searching for Babar's shirts, but they had sold out.
Even after spending nearly 10 hours at the stadium, people rushed to the gate from which the team bus was expected to leave. They waited from 7:30 to 9 pm just to catch one last glimpse of the Pakistan team, especially Babar, before they headed home.
In summary, it was an amazing experience and one of the best games of this World Cup. The crowd was fantastic, and Pakistan gained a significant fan base in India. Those supporting New Zealand were also mindful that it's just a game and kept their banter limited to cricket.
Sharing some photos too.
Agreed, I was seated in Upper H stand and had almost mix fan base. But yeah NZ team was loved and applauded during 1st innings and 2nd innings it was Pakistan. Missed to mention about DJI wouldn't call it a 50 -50 split. Muslims in the crowd were disproportionately pro PAK and the rest were disproportionately pro NZ. It was definitely more of a pro NZ crowd
But what did happen was that sixes , boundaries and milestones by both sides were cheered with equal vigour and everyone responded to the DJ's call of Bang Bang Fakhar quite as enthusiastically as the calls to celebrate Rachins ton.
Folks were just there mostly to enjoy the cricket . That crowd deserved a 100 over nail biting chase.
What you suspect isn't the official word or of any use.
The official capacity is 132000. And as per latest figures it has been augmented to 134000.
