A lot of his innings are Stat padding innings. Small sample size with possibly minnows involved doesn't change the fact that he's slow opener who is a misfit for modern odi. He stalls the momentum and puts pressure on the other batsmen.

I dont think Indian crowds ever cheered or appreciated when opposition played. They only cheer particular players for eg., if ABD or Gayle played in Bengaluru they would get loud cheers as they are like adopted sons of the city. Chennai though does give standing ovation at the end of a well played match irrespective of who won.
