ICC World Cup 2023: Pakistan (205/3) end their losing streak with a convincing victory over Bangladesh (204) by 7 wickets

Classy Six by Abdullah . Can anyone imagine Imam hitting Sixes. Hopefully the fat kid never plays for Pakistan again..

Pakistan - 125/0 (20.1 overs).

Abdullah is on 67*. Opportunity for his 2nd century of the tournament.

Abdullah is clearly superior to Imam. All Abdullah needs is an aggressive partner. An in form Fakhar is perfect and it keeps the right left combo

ODI’s always been my fav format. But I must say, Bangladesh is making me dislike ODI’s now.

BD are likely to miss CT 2025. This is good because they can devalue the tournament with poor cricket.

They need to improve performance first.

Shafique has good strength in that half short bowl which he can pull infront of square.... although it did lead to his wicket against Aus, the extra pace just got big on him.

Fakhar should have played against South Africa once he fully recovered from knee injury but yaari dosti got in the way.

I'm thinking about the bigger picture here....we need someone who is not part of the current comfortable circle and able to make the ruthless decisions that are required e.g. breaking up the opening batting paor of RizBar and slotting in Saim..at least for the T20 World Cup...
Breaking up something only to fix it ? Babar and Rizwan have been wonderful for last few years.

Mr Al Hasan, this is called Karma for conspiring against Tamim. Can’t score runs, no 50s in cwc23, can’t take much wickets, been poor all round. Beechara Al Hasan, he thought he would play next Champions trophy. LoL
Looks like we are bothers in this. Babar did the same with Sarfarz his captaincy is also coming to an end.

Lol, Babar never wanted captaincy. Sarfaraz got sacked due his poor run as captain and more importantly his individual performance.

If South Africa or srilanka gives a gift to Pakistan by defeating newzealand than Pakistan will have a hand on semifinals rope ..

Bangladesh needs to move on from dustbowls at home. They cannot compete at the international level if they don't play on flat pitches. Those dustbowls are good for home series victories but do nothing to prepare domestic players for international cricket.

Flat pitches forces bowlers to find ways of getting batsmen out while also forces batsmen to learn to play big innings.

Perfect game for Pak so far. Also Fakhar is back. Can't wait for Pak vs NZ

This may sound like a silly question , but does wickets affect nrr?

When Abdullah reviewed so quickly - we thought there must be some inside edge. But nope - terrible review.

Terrible review , maybe he thought the impact was outside but it wasn’t even ump call.

Captain dosti yaar striding out to do some stat padding

It's a chicken and egg situation. This was the strategy India used and still uses against opponents. But the first class cricket shouldn't be played on such pitches. You need to win international games to get sponsors and fans engaged but you also need to improve skills on all pitches. Took India about 50 years to realize this. Maybe BD can start this soon as the scale is smaller.

I agree.

The thing is Bangladesh do not have many great grounds like India do. Bangladesh only have like 3 international quality grounds in entire country (Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet).

Dhaka pitch needs to be upgraded. It needs to be more sporting to develop players better.

Very poor Captaincy. Very bad. Why not send Iftkar, Wasim or even Usama mir to try how would hit and bat? I mean this guy never use brain.

These people are only after money!!!!
Actually….. he went to spend some money 😜. But yes you are right - this guy Babar will pick every run he can get …. Today was the perfect time to send Ifti or Aga at 3 and ask them to go crazy …

We still need to get rid of Nawaz, Hasan, Usama, Shadab, Rauf & Imam
yes throw those non performing players and rope in youngsters and reward the performing players in domestics.

Only allow them back when they top the charts in domestics.

Such Terrible runrate by the openers considering they were looking to improve the net runrate... Gameplay is a biggest problem for Pakistan, I think lack of education and inability to do easy maths doesn't work for them either.

Issues more than dustbowls. They have fundamental issues. Whole cricket set up system is poor, board president, selectors, members all corrupt all filling their pockets doing little throughout the country. Selection panel formed by three losers of past keep selecting wrong squad, wrong calibre players. Top to bottom its a mess. Public starting to get sandals ready now when they arrive back.

Because we’re not yet close to over the line yet and that would create unnecessary pressure.

Babar can rotate strike and Fakhar can hit. Relax. It’s a sensible move.

On the same ground you can have different types of pitches. After all shami at his own expense 3 personal pitches in his village each behaving differently. Chennai has multiple pitches each behaving differently.

He will never do that, he can see easy runs to get even if that is at the cost of Pakistan not improving there net runrate

I agree with this too. As a matter of fact, what you wrote is the number one issue right now.

There seem to be far too many non-cricket issues.

He is using his brain, he doesn't want to miss out padding stats against a weak BD attack.

need to boost the NRR though
granted chances are extremely slim, but still need to fight til the last
No. We need to win the match.

There’s still 70 odd runs to get. Stranger things have happened.

We have a well set Fakhar and a world class batsman in the middle. Relax. We’ll still get there in good time.

I wouldn't even mind fakhar not taking strike for the rest of the game let's see what babar can do when the stage is set

That’s not true bro - I’m not justifying the performance, but I a. Reading lot about Mirpur dust bowl - which is not true at all.

For last couple of years they are trying to change the surface, but it’ll take time. If you had noticed India played a Test there with three pacers, they don’t do that even at home. Last few series, every team has played with three pacers, some times four. Last NZ series, within first PP in 5 innings, 13 wickets fell - all to pacers, something unheard off in BD cricket.

The reason team is sinking, I don’t want to discuss here ….. may be after WC you’ll see me posting more in time pass.
