There used to be a saying that, if anyone can bounce back from a situation like we are currently in, it is Pakistan because of their unpredictability. Unfortunately we have lost the unpredictable tag as well.

This is the lowest point in our cricketing history. I know there is no match between SA and PAK, but lets hope and pray that we someone bounce back from this.

We wont progress in Champions Trophy. Time to accept it. We arent just good enough. Squad is filled with one paced snails.

I am more worried about future. Dont see much light tbh. 2-3 players cant make us a world class team.

We're not making SF because we got hammered so bad vs India. Only way we make it is if we miraculously beat SA by, say 75 runs, and beat SL by 100 runs.

To make a comeback we need to have players to do that. This current crop is amongst the weakest Pak side in recent years. It is like a rookie side that even most other B sides will easily defeat.

Bro prepare to receive an beatdown of epic proportions tomorrow - it's Hammer time!!!!

Please save your prayers for the deserving - don't waste them on losers with loser mentality

I want them to get thrashed by 200 runs or 10 wickets.Otherwise i have to hear about these useless hacks, category Z quality players' name again and again. They are the cause i don't watch Pakistan play anymore. There was a time i used to prepare myself few days back to watch Pakistan play.

These players are here to stay either way, so we may as well fluke a win.

I'd be happy if this team can manage a win against Sri Lanka, they seem to play better cricket than us now days as well.

I think losing against Sri Lanka will be our lowest point. There a side that lost not only to south africa but a couple of weeks ago lost to Scotland. Either way we need major construction done to our team before we could win a game or series or even a tournament

Whoever the player, whatever his quality,as soon as he goes out in the field with a Pakistani jersey on, subconsciously we the supporters start to expect them to deliver for the team, wish them to do good. It's quiet natural. But at the end of day they make us disappointed again and again. They just don't possess the quality to succeed at this highest level, you can't expect a crow to sing like a koel bird.I have not a single ounce of faith on these current Pakistani players. If they beat SA tomorrow,it will a big upset.

This and "unpredictability" tag must be shed by Pakistan to go forward. Be a predictable and successful team. Given the current standard it will be a "Goback" not "Comeback"

Good luck to the guys, I hope Fakhar does well, Azhar looked well last match. Babar please get your form back, Hafeez..well and Sarfraz needs to bat better. Come on boys!

I'm quite upbeat about tomorrow not like India where I was semi hoping for rain all along. I'm just praying we bat first.
Will be a good test for the boys

You can usually judge by the first powerplay in the first innings if Pakistan looks up for it on the day! If aamir and junaid can knock over 2-3 or if Fakhar can still be out there at the end of 10 overs, i'll be feeling optimistic. Having said that, this team lacks quality and a classic S.A choke is required to help us.

SA to give another beating ... India was rusty and did not play to full potential SAF have been here for a while and are in top form. Expect a bigger mauling.

The only way Pak cricket will go forwards is if they take a short term step backwards. That means another loss on epic proportions. S.A. will do Pak cricket a massive favour by annihilating them.

Are you from 90s generation? A few of my Bangla friends who also are from the 90s like me say the exact same thing that you just said. I think most BD cricket fans used to support Pakistan, but now their own team is doing well so they don't have to support Pak but they still have a soft spot for the side.

We have one Fakhar, other teams have ten times better players than him and atleast four five of them. Fakhar is the only six hitter in our batting lineup, the next one is Malik against spinners and Imad once in five months.

Most other teams would only play one of Azhar, Babar, Hafeez and Sarfaraz.

There aren't changing anything even if we lose remaining two matches by world record margin, the whole trash will be recycled again, so I would take a fluke win by this useless lot, we as pak cricket fans certainly we deserve better than this trash. Pta nai Kis gunah ke saza hai ye team.

Nope they can't win unpredictability tag is overdated now.Pak should be ready for thrashing of the life. We are coming!! Protea fire!!

The issue is you don't really have any player who can single handedly win the game for you like in the past. Only Shadab has some spark but bowlers alone cannot win you odis anymore. Throwing Fakhr in the mix is a wild card and anything is an upgrade on the dreadful Shehzad. Hafeez should not be playing at 4..if the team leaders think he's needed then he should open and Azhar should sit out.

I would love to see anyone of these to be man of the match for us:
1) Fakhar Zaman
2) Babar Azam
3) Sarfaraz Ahmed
4) May be Imad
5) Shadab
6) Junaid
7) Amir
8) Hassan

All have the ability to do so, they just need to man up and play with heart as well as mind.

This is not the Pakistani side of the 90's and early to mid 2000's. We just do not have the talent or quality in the present team. Umeed pe dunya qaim hai but we must accept reality as well. PCB needs to do a major shake up of the team after the champions trophy.

Yeah that's what we have been doing since 2003 WC. Only that we forgot when to stop taking backward steps.

When a team keeps selecting A. Shezad as a opener on a constant basis, you know that team is going down hill very fast. Every other nation wants a strong Pak side in cricket again, but PCB is to be blamed alot for PAK's down hill.

Not intending to be harsh for the fun of it, but based on their performance vs India, Pakistan's best bet is for the weather to mess up their games. That way their fans can at least live with 'what ifs'.

Same here. There was a time when i used to see only Pak matches(some times ind). Never missed to see 2W's bowling and miandad or sayeed's batting. Loved to see Imran and co. to enter the ground. What a glaze. Those are the sweetest memories i still cherish. But now just rona Ata hai to see these loosers.
Kash wo 90's ke din bapass ati

Yes, only Pakistan can make a comeback from here because it is a special team with powers that other teams can't even imagine to have. What an amazing and special special team!

To be honest I dont mind losing, It would be great if we can see few youngsters perform and then we can drop some seniors and bring other fearless youngsters in the squad.

Previous generation Pakistan teams had players who could win matches because of their individual brilliance even if they did not play as a team. There is no one in the present team that inspires confidence that he has the capability of winning matches with his individual brilliance. So I do not see much hope that they will be able to win against South Africa, a ruthless team of professionals and number one ranked team, who are difficult to beat in group matches.

Seems like the loss against India has taken all the hopes away from our fans.Chances against S.A are surely less but where are our real Pak fans??.This team is not as bad as they were against India.

Yes,i am from 90s generation.I was very young,a school kid ,when i first saw live cricket in TV in 1989..That was Neheru cup held in India, which was just like champions trophy. All the 7 test playing nations at that time participated in that tournament.Pakistan became champion by beating mighty West Indies.I still can remember.3 runs needed off 2 balls.Wasim Akram was the batsman and Viv was the bowler with an emotionless face and chewing gum in his mouth.Wasim dancing down the pitch lofted him for a 6.It was a worthy tournament to watch.I fell in love of this game and this Pakistan team.I spend my teen age watching Imran's karismatic captaincy,Wasim,Waqar's phenomenal fast bowling,Saqlain's majic,Saeed Anwar,Ijaj Ahmed,Salim Malik's dashing batting,Miandad's never say die attitude,Injamam's heroic innings.Believe me,if the present Pakistani team would have played at that time i never would have become such a crazy fan of your team.Present Pakistani batsmen and bowlers even would not get into the Pakistani B team at that time.I never could imagine that i will see such a sorry state of Pakistani cricket. As a long time fan i really feel sorry for your team.

Same to me.I just feel the same passion inside me,your last two lines.

I think the PCB need to take a page out of the ECB's book, the England team since the 2015 Wc has been revolutionised, their batting in ODI cricket is arguably the best in the world, they have many all rounders and most importantly they have allrounders and batsmen that can clear the fence. The PCB seriously need to look at the way England changed so significantly in the past 2 years before the WC 2019

Exactly same feeling as i am too from that era.started follow cricket from 85.

Bump.
Also giving ideas to other teams to play more spinners against SA.

You were right this was quite a mauling I am sure SL will "maul" Pakistan as well.

Yes, the start of a new golden era in Pakistan cricket.

Just bumping this thread. I made this before Pakistan Vs South Africa match when no one had any hope for Pakistan team including me. Lets hope and pray for a similar comeback against India as well.

SA is going to thrash Pakistan tomorrow. Mark my words, SA will post a 350+ score.

You deserve a trophy!

shaz619, have mercy on me. Ramadan is getting the better of me, I meant Pakistan will stomp on SA and SL, go through England like a hot knife through butter and demolish the finalists

Come on bro would I promote such negativity? :afridi

In hindsight, this tournament has opened my eyes clearly. SA are the ultrachokers, England can't play on any decks bar flat, India probably best all round team, NZ are an average team with a few stars, Australia are overrated with the bat (what middle order do they have??), Sri Lanka surprised us (vs India), but then didn't (vs Pakistan) and England shouldn't host a tournament if it means Bangladesh go to the Semi's with 1 win. And Pakistan are predictably unpredictable.

Come Sunday, all flights are gonna be cancelled cos I can sense a GREEN STORM APPROACHING :yasir :yasir :yasir

Teams just don't bounce back if they don't have ability. Pakistan bowling is world class who restricted teams to below par.

Only unpredictable thing about Pakistan now is batting. With pitches getting flatter we needed pinch hitters like Fakhar Zaman and Sharjeel and not test players. Management is finally opening their eyes and from now on Pakistan will once again become one of top teams in ODI just like it used to be not long ago. PSL will help identify pinch hitters, Fakhar is one of many.

Nothing wrong with Pak structure back home as many says here. India with world class structure still only have trundlers who cannot move ball to save their life and spinners. Just like any other era of Indian cricket.

 I always had faith in you! this GREEN STORM is growing in STRENGTH, our circle of POP will iA lead to an emphatic victory. I love England though, we're very lucky when the tournament's are held here and make for incredible atmosphere; the negative is, if summer is wet then games can be abandoned but planning needs to be a bit more shrewd. Anyhow the heavens have opened during the KO stages! beautiful stuff mA

I had no doubt that England would lose the semi (they lack the edge during KO phase), I was more worried about lanka! always knew it would be our toughest game. SA do what SA do best and NZ is a one man team; you're right India is probably the best A/R team
