If India do play would you guys still turn up and watch the games? From the reaction I’m seeing on Twitter it seems there will be not many people watching on tv and a lot of empty seats in stadiums..

There will be even bigger crowd this time.

All this talk of not playing is just catharsis coz Modi & gang haven't visibly demonstrated any punishment being inflicted on Pakistan. It's inevitable that LoC gets heated soon. Modi will claim we have avenged, boycott-mongers will forget & move on.

Boycott gang are a minority. Absolute majority in India wants team to play and live up to their WC record against Pakistan.

Against Pak or in general ? I am sure tomorrow's T20 will be a sell out against AUS

That’s not how it seems - it’s one of the most tweeted topics on Twitter - I’ve even seen tweets slating Tendulkar/Gavaskar...

On the whole the post here have been sensible bar a few people who seem pro boycott and I was curious to know if they’d be watching when it does goes ahead.

Of course many will watch. Don't trust social media, RSS bhakt brigade and BJP IT cell are at work there. Also many might be bots or fake accounts. Whole of India will rise up and cheer Team India against Pakistan. The media anchors who are shouting today too will follow the game.

Lol fans will watch with even more passion.
And anybody who says no is just lying through their teeth.

Good chance for the British pakistanis to finally outnumber their indian counterparts in an Ind vs Pak game. :inzi

Sachin Tendulkar was called Anti-National by a section of media yesterday for suggesting that India should play against Pak rather than giving away 2 points.

This match will be bigger than the previous ones because of the tight situations.

How much I would like if we Pakistani’s wear Kashmir shirts and do a silent-protest.

Match is in England brah, Pakistanis are the majority between the two.

Yes but during the matches it's always the Indians who are in the majority. Sometimes the ratio is like 80:20 . Birmingham, which has the largest Pakistani population in UK was filled with indian supporters in the CT group game.

According to a poll done by one of the media outlets in India, 62% want to boycott. If you guys skim through the tweets under the hashtag #nocricketwithpakistan you’ll see what I mean. Personally I think the fans should not be hypocrites and boycott the match themselves.

Of course they will. The average person isn't an idiot like politicians and the media. Too bad all Indians are getting a bad rep because of some warmongers who control the press.

Not just the media, a lot of people are slating him..

This time it was ballot so I’m guessing there will more of an even spread this time and also the CT was held in Ramadan so I’m guessing that’s why Pakistanis didn’t bother as much and just watched it home.

problem is those who wants to play against pak cant voice their opinion you see what happened to sachin they didn't even spared him and labelled him anti-national

I agree that you can’t voice it in the media but on a poll you can and according to it only 38% want the game to go ahead

Sky wil do a one hour preview...
Build it to be a a proper war on the field between two nation...

Athers and Hussein will analyse each player, build up the history etc etc

Fast forward 90 minutes: Match Abdondend due to rain...

I can bet my life 99.99% of Indian fans will watch the match if it happens with more eagerness and interest than any other Indo-Pak match since the 2003 WC match between both the teams.

Everyone will watch this match as if it's more important than any other Pak vs India match ever played. Beating Pakistan will feel like a breath of fresh air

Boycott is a political tactic with a political objective.

Fans will watch the match as usual.

I can honestly see this happening lol!! Lets hope we get a summer heat wave like we had last year!

So here's the reality.

There were 400,000 applications for tickets for the Pakistan v India match. The stadium holds 25,000.

To put that in perspective, there were 230,000 applications for the England v Australia match. The final had 260,000 applications for tickets.

Boycott :)).

The Indians will definitely watch the game. Quite a few of them will consider this game as a revenge for Pulwama.

Should we lose, which we probably will, they will make sure that our fans will never forget the amount of trolling and trash-talk that they are going to dish out. They will rub it in like never before. Their media, ex-players and fans are going to have a field day.

On the other hand, this is also a terrible time for them to end their World Cup streak. The reactions will be worse than the Champions Trophy Final and our fans will troll them a lot harder this time.

Either way, this is an absolute must win for both teams. Sadly for us, it is 80-20 in India's favour. Much like the Champions Trophy Final, we have to hope that we produce our best cricket and India produces their worst cricket. If they hold their nerve and bring their A game, we will be blown away.

The gulf in quality between the two sides is huge, and it can be highlighted by the fact that the current Pakistan side has lost 3 out of 4 matches against the current Indian side.

to add to this.... the game is on Father's Day.

The winning country will have a field day with the opponent for several years, the stakes are huge as you said, it's ALREADY bigger than the Mohali Semi Final, will go down as the biggest encounter in the history books.

100% agreed, the backlash from media and fans will be epic if the team losing.. The players would be under tremendous pressure for no fault of their own.. Either ways the game itself should be cracking

Whoever be the opposition, if its India's match, surely worth a watch.

Of course, if entertainment quotient is lesser for any match(e.g. India vs UAE) or if our personal schedule is tight and it's improbable for us to watch, then that game can be skipped.

It’s interesting that the pro boycott crew haven’t commented!

On the whole it’s seems everyone will be watching.. If anything it seems the game will hold more weight for Indians, after a very long time there will be more pressure on ICT than us...

There will be even bigger crowd this time.

There is no room for bigger crowd, every ticket has been sold out for long. I was planning for long time to watch that match, but could not get the ticket with all my planning and effort. 1/2 million people applied to 20-25 K seats.

If any of our Indian friend showing his patriotic duty and planning to boycott the match, I'll be happy to buy your ticket.

It won’t happen but they should have fan parks or put up big screens like they did for the football WC..

You forget, the wc is being played in england. Most of them coming are born english. Ain't no one giving too much farse about what's going on back home.

Enough said.

Cant wait for us to fluke another win

I swear i would never ask for another fluke again.

Match is on june 16th, things will be very normal by then.

IPL and elections would be over and entire mood of the nation would have changed.

Cant wait for us to fluke another win

I swear i would never ask for another fluke again.

Situation is not as bad as 2008/ 1998/ 92/ 71/ 65. So all this media speculated rivalry is trash, both teams will take it as just another match, unless we meet in semis/ finals of the WC.

They seemed very passionate about the boycott, I’m half expecting them to turn up armed with tomatoes to throw at ICT for playing...
They will be termed as anti-nationals for going so far as to fly out to UK to attend the match.

I doubt the Indians attending the match care about the boycott.

It’s just a cricket game, leave it to that.

People need to stop letting politician hijack the game of cricket by giving it more importance than just a game.

Pity both side of the people who wouldn’t let it be just a game.

Defiantly they will waitch the game with more passion.
I am expecting even non cricket fan to wath the match frim both sides and hence more viewer ship. All talk of boycating the Pakistan are just talks.. Everyone is trying to prove their patriotism by giving these kind of statements.

First of all, they should not play us in the WC. No matter if they lose 2 points, or even if ICC bans them completely from not playing against us, who cares -- it's just a sport after all. If they really believe Pakistan is responsible for all the bad things happening in their country, cricket and world cup should be the last thing on their minds. By playing against us, Indians are essentially saying cricket is more important than the lives of their slain soldiers.

Secondly, if BCCI behaves shamelessly and plays against Pakistan, no fans should turn up the stadium. I mean zero. These fans are from the same population that is threatening bakeries with the name Karachi, beating up Kashmiris, all over social media threatening destruction of Pakistan. How low do you have to stoop to throw away all that you stand for and show up to entertain yourself at a game of cricket against Pakistan? Where would all the emotion, the pain, the bravado be that they are feeling over the lives of their soldiers now?

Time for this ** and melodramatics from India to stop. Either stand for what you believe is right, or grow a brain, get a clue, and stop defending the actions of your genocidal thug army.

Going by the trolling Indians should be boycotting which is actually a blessing in disguise. Pakistanis will fill the stadium. There is so much demand for tickets that any openings will be pounced upon.

People forget that India and Pakistan played a WC match during the Kargil War.

So, no way is this the most edgy times to play a match.

Obviously there cant be people in the stadium more than the maximum capacity but i meant to say that more people would be interested in watching the match.

There was no social media back then and media was less hyper. Those were the days of PTV and Doordarshan. Today, because of social media, everyone has an opinion and private media channels try to outdo each other for ratings.

Kargil was an outright war, but this match is going to much bigger than the 1999 one because of several factors.

Confident Pakistan will win this

Everytime India creates a hype it backfires

Aane do series, baap beta comments etc..

Also Pakistan play better in England than India

I was there the last time Pakistan played India at Old Trafford in 1999 and the crowd support was roughly 70-80% Pakistani and 20-30% Neutrals and Indians.
This time I reckon it will be 70% Indian.
How times have changed.

Why would someone else boycott the match. You will see more friendships, banters and as always exciting IND-PAK match. I expect more fans from India to turn up this time.

So was I. Going this time too. Can't wait to end the streak.

Pakistan fans back in those days were very colourful and loud, maybe a bit too boisterous at times. Indians were quieter, initially they looked down on the noise and saw it as disrespectful to the host nation. Then they saw Pak fans getting all the headlines and started to copy the behaviour.

When the indian fans get drunk they become more patriotic and passionate. then again, you will see a quite a few pakistanis in the same boat and cause a few tensions. Crowd trouble 99% expected.

Wait... what?! Bigger than Mohali? How? Because there's political tension due to a terrorist attack?

This game will no way be bigger than Mohali. It is a WC group game which will probably be forgotten in case the losing side ends up advancing further in the tournament than the victorious side (1992, 1999, CT 17).

It might be bigger for India, but definitely not for Pak. Just another WC group game against India.

Our eyes should be on the cup!

Pakistan fans are much louder than indians, even the games where indians outnunber pak fans, pak fans still manage to make good noise for their numbers. I really hope pakistan fans turn up as lancashire and yorkshire pakistanis outnumber indians by 3 to 1

It will be a full house guaranteed.

Great atmosphere, good banter, a few fights too.

I’d be happy to go if I could a ticket - I’ve actually got spare tickets (one for each game) for Pakistan vs West Indies/Bangladesh/New Zealand/SAF and would am looking for some kinda swap deal plus cash for the India game...

Anyone interested?

I guarantee they will come in thousands. Indian are the most fickle people on the planet. You can sell anything to them and they'll take it!

Good luck to Pak fans trying to get a ticket. Indians will be all over the stadium.

It is not bigger than Mohali, but it is bigger than 1999 and 2003.

I always see many Pak posters talk of the Mohali and as a lurker I do remember the Greenstorm threads. But why did Pakistanis see it as such a big deal. Was it the chance to play the final in Mumbai and maybe win there?
