South Africa is currently sitting at 4-0-3-1 with only 1 point. If they go on to win the 2019 world cup, would it be similar to Pakistan 1992 world cup win?

No one gave South Africa a chance to reach the final four of this world cup. Their team selection has not been up to the mark in this tournament and they are short in confidence at the moment.

But in my opinion they have the firepower and only need to sort out the right team combination, win their next game against Afghanistan and get the momentum going, reaching the final four and possibly title shot is not impossible.

Their remaining fixtures are against Afg, Nz, Aus, Pak and SL and I think they will need to win all or atleast 4 to stand a chance. I don't believe they are out of the competition yet and it would be foolish to write a team like SA off so early.

Not happening..they don’t have the firepower and batsmen that absorb pressure

Is there not enough firepower to in the following lineup to beat any team on their day?

1. DeKock
2. Amla
3. Markram
4. Faf
5. Miller
6. Duminy
7. Phulekwayo
8. Rabada
9. Ngidi
10. Tahir
11. Shamsi

No. Amla, Faf, Miller, Duminy, Tahir have all passed their primes. Shamsi, Markram & Phulekwayo too young at this level. DeKock, Rabada & Ngidi can't handle pressure. SA should focus on top 8 finish from here on to save some pride & respect.

They need to channel this firepower.
Need to come up with an unusual plan.
Markram to open and Duminy at 3.

At least one bowler should bowl exclusively short pitch stuff. Tahir should bowl 4 overs after 40.

No chance.

They look like a team who want to go home, as soon as possible.

What if they go on to win the tournament from here??

A team that is known for losing from situations where nobody would lose, goes on to win from the current situation??

1992 Pakistan team was way way superior and energetic than this lethargic SA team

Not possible now to do a 1992. Pakistan had beaten Zimbabwe in their second match. South Africa should have beaten Bangladesh but I think they can still qualify for semis specially if more matches get washed out

Why are people trashing on South Africa so much? They had to play their harder matches first, and Bangladesh is a strong team as well.

They will end up competing for the 4th part and could possibly knock us out, they have every chance but not as big as Inda/England/Australia

It’s all about leadership.. if somehow faf can convince or better yet play a captains innings and beat one of the big guys with support from miller man they have every chance to make it final four.. and yes I think it will be much much bigger than 1992.. I haven’t written them off just yet..

And if my auntie had wheels, she'd be a bike. Don't understand your point. The Pakistan team in 1992 got off to a bad start and went on to win, doesn't have any bearing on future results.
