For Wasim Khan the abandonment of the tour by New Zealand is a crippling blow.

He fought hard for this and the upcoming tour of England and used all his PR might which comes from the way he puts forward his point of view, and something no other PCB official can do at the moment.

To him this represents a major failure and thus the tears of despair.

Stay strong champ

The look of a defeated man.

Ramiz needs to take him out of his misery and terminate his contract with immediate effect.

Wasim is out of his depth and does not serve any purpose anymore. His supporters claimed that he is the reason why the big teams will tour Pakistan and how his amazing negotiating skills have restored Pakistan’s credibility.

That narrative has died a slow, painful death after the humiliation that we suffered two days ago. It appears that his critically claimed negotiation skills were inadequate when it comes to convincing New Zealand to stay and put their faith in Pakistan and PCB.

He does not serve any purpose anymore. It is time to go.

Instead of hiding behind the CEO like Mani hid behind Wasim for 3 years, Ramiz needs to dissolve this position and take control of CEO duties as well.

At least his incompetence made you happy 😃. Would have been painful for you to see NZ team playing in Pak after 18 years.

He has the credentials and ability to deliver to a high standard so I wouldn’t be surprised if ramiz raja extends his contract.

He is well educated from England so he can be the perfect partner for Ramiz to modernize Pakistan cricket and continue having more overseas teams tour. Atleast he’s better than the 60-70 year old nepotism babas they have filled in the PCB. Ramiz and Wasim can be a powerful duo that can get Pakistan cricket back to the top.

There’s rumors going around that he’s already decided to go back to England but not sure if he will work with ECB given he almost tanked Leics

So he brought NZ to tour Pakistan but could not control US withdrawal from Afghanistan.

Is this the depth you are looking for.

Some insight would be useful.

Now that is blind and irrational hate.

I think under the circumstances WK did the best he could. He is certainly the most competent chief executive Pakistan has ever had.

I feel for the guy, he worked tirelessly and professionally to bring back the "white" teams . NZL came and left without without playing and without telling the reason.

I respect the guy a lot, he is a thorough professional with western work ethics.

At the end of the day, NZ’s departure or style of departure must have served as a reminder to him and his place in the west also.

Another silly silly post from a poster who knows nothing. Wasim Khan is an excellent ambassador for Pakistan cricket and a true professional but yes he’s not Jesus can’t work miracles.

Yea New Zealand came because of him trying but the fact they have left is beyond his control. There is regional instability which is way beyond his remit. He is simply an administrator trying to do his best for a broken outdated cricketing system. It’ll take years to fix Pakistan cricket and it will always be slow steps.

English cricket takes place in an environment of transparency meritocracy and accountability but still it’s an evolving process. English cricket in the 90’s was radically different from the 2000’s and again very different after 2010’s. In each decade there were remarkable transformations. So going by that standard Pakistan cricket needs decades to change even a little. How childish and immature for alleged cricket fans to think a guy can come along and introduce huge transformations with positive results in 4/5 years.

Foreign tours are only one aspect of this quagmire. There are other matters to consider also.

Pakistan is a place where hard work is just not valued and rewarded. It is a country filled with Mamoons

Garbage posts that reek of stupidity like this are lowering the collective intelligence of the Pakpassion community. Go watch old Sethi press conferences to calm yourself.

I feel bad for the guy. He's a good CEO and honest about his job.

None of us can imagine the amount of work he must have put into organizing the series.

This seems like a PR job by Wasim Khan. The picture, the pose, expressions - everything seems too convenient and carefully crafted.

Good acting skills I must admit. Nice photography by the paid cameraman as well.

The only paid PR is the compensation you receive for being the ultimate self hating Pakistani troll.

Those are the tears of a man, that actually cares about Pak cricket and has been working hard.

Unfortunately, Pak is filled with too many selfish individuals who don't care about Pak and individuals that don't work hard for anything, instead they get ahead through a buddy-buddy system.

I mean, the recent prime ministers themselves did nothing for Pak and took all the money for themselves - perfect representation of Pak.

Wasim Khan left the UK for the betterment of Pakistan Cricket; his emotions are a clear cut indication of his passion, love, and devotion to Pakistan Cricket.

Carry on Wasim, you are doing a sterling job, don’t let the racist NZCB/G (and Indians) derail your passion.

Waseem Khan was hired to bring cricket back and he did that. Amidst all the negativity and trolling by our media and ex-cricketers, he kept his cool. However, this whole situation is way above his pay scale. Keep your head up champ, THIS TOO SHALL PASS.

Cannot blame him for deciding to return to ENG after this.

I'm wondering if this could go the other way now and make him more determined and want to stay on at the PCB.

You really feel bad for him just as a person because it is absolutely soul crushing to work on a major project, watch it succeed and take shape and then in the last minute just see it completely derail through no fault of your own.

It will be hard for someone to find the strength to continue with such a job after such a turn of events. Will be completely understandable if he walks away and big credit if he decides to stick it out.

Hope he stays on. Tough blow, but hope he perseveres.

We appreciate you WK!

Don’t really think this picture was appropriate to be posted. It’s been a rough few days for Wasim. Don’t think this was needed.

Thanks for your concerns, but he was fine with it.

In fact he sent me some words that had been posted by someone praising him about the picture, when he replied to me.

Fair enough. Me personally I would have not wanted this to be posted. Think he needs time to reflect on the next steps.

If thats the case, don't you think they stand vindicated?

Cos he got NZ to tour Pak with England coming up next.

NZ pulled out due to forces beyond Wasim Khan's control.

Think there are many other issues to criticize him for (Misbah hiring and whatnot) but this, I don't think so.

He did his part.

Circumstances didn't work out.

I think Wasim Khan has lost his perspective here.

By all means persuade other countries to tour Pakistan But understand that there will be a very low threshold for opposition teams to unilaterally leave.

And have a contingency plan. Mine would be to thank them for coming and to offer to reschedule at short notice overseas.

This series could almost certainly have been rebooked to the Indian Ocean coast of South Africa, where cricket can be played in late September in Durban, East London and arguably Richards Bay.

I would argue that when Pakistan schedule home series they should probably have South Africa on standby as a reserve destination.

This is obviously going to keep happening, and a Plan B would be more productive than just whingeing about what happens.

Savak. You summed it up very well. Till you have Mamoons among you , Nothing can get better.

Things will get better. Just need to learn the art of ignoring the Mamoons when they are barking to deaf ears and countering when they are being relentless

Does he monitor PP? Maybe he should create an account here and participate in a Q&A with the fans in an exclusive thread.

This is really sad, clearly he has put a lot of time and energy into getting all this arranged and for a last minute blow like this to happen was out of his control and no-one could have done anything about it let alone Wasim Khan.

Poor guy. I empathize with a guy who works hard and professionally at his job.
But this was not in his hands at all.
Pakistan has too many loose canons in prominent positions.
Imran Khan and your interior minister openly taunting and rejoicing at the wests defeat in Afghanistan. And blatantly backing the Taliban narrative.
Also the spy chief posing with a smirk on his face in Afghanistan.
Why would any country reward Pakistan with validation through soft power activities like cricket ?
Total failure of the Pakistani establishment to present a neutral and diplomatic image.
People here might now claim that they dont care , but this photo and the storm in Pakistan belies that.
