What's new

If you were an Indian supporter, which of these would have hurt you the most?

A) 96 World Cup semi final loss against st Sri Lanka
B) 2003 World Cup final loss vs Australia
C) World Test Championship Final loss to NZ
D) World Test Championship Final loss to Australia
E) Champions Trophy Final loss to Pakistan

The 2003 final was probably the worst but this one at home in 2023 is right up there I would think.
Champions Trophy final loss to Pakistan in 2017 would be the worst, followed by 2023 WC final loss

India were not expected to win in WTC Finals due to away conditions. Also in 2003 WC, reaching the final was a good achievement in itself and that Australian team was way better, so none of those 3 defeats hurt

India were a average team in 1990s. 1996 WC overall was good as we beat Pakistan in QFs. No one gave India any chance of winning 1996 WC

Well indians will never acknowledge but the loss against Pak in CT 2017 was the worst of them all. Just because it came from the hands of your archrival.

Appreciate bro, you nailed it despite being indian.

To me nothing hurts more than the loss against Lanka in 96. It's different for different people but being a kid and in mad love with Sachin in those days, it hurted like hell

Very few Indians care to admit the 2017 ICCCT final loss was huge. We have already seen some comments here.

It was only the second time the senior teams were playing in an ICC final. In 2007 world T20 final India had beaten Pakistan and 10 years later Pakistan evened the score with a pretty big win. Had it not been for Pandya, the final scorecard would have cut a sorry figure for India

Can't speak for everyone else but wasn't really a big deal for me. I had gotten used to India losing in the knockouts by then. Even then any of the other knockouts we lost between 2013-2023 didn't hurt either. India have reached so many knockouts recently that I'm mostly satisfied with their performances. Also I've gotten older so I've gotten more mature about it.

If I were an an ‘Indian’ supporter, just being ‘Indian’ would hurt me every day, and every other week I decide to brush my teeth, I would begin to hate myself, hate my own reflection, the same reflexion alike to every member of the failing Indian team.

I would cuddle my Modi doll before bed each night, but loud screams would be heard on my street, my neighbours would never sleep, except the Muslim ones, they would awaken for Fajr with a giant smile before sunrise and every Sunday would be a celebration of Father’s day.

I hope this helps.

Thanks

1996 Semis loss to Srilanka followed by 2003 WC Finals loss to Aus are the worst ever defeats for me as a cricket fan in ODI's.

The worst ever loss as far as I remember irrespective formats must be the 1999 Chennai Test loss to Pakistan.

When you don't expect much nothing hurts :) You just hope. After all it is not you who play. Players play. If they fail for whatever reason what can you do.
