"I am repeating and have said it before. The love and respect that I have got in India is something I've gotten in very few places. I have received a lot of love from the Indian awaam. I say that of all the cricket I've enjoyed, it's been the most enjoyable in India and Australia. I can't express the love I've experienced in words. But the media there is very negative. It's very negative about Pakistan, the Pakistan army, Pakistani government, Pakistani people"

Lala we love you!

Goodguy - SRT and Dhoni are members of the Indian military right? They have positions in the Indian military right? Why don't they go and fight on the border - they are already soldiers!?

Lala trolling his 1.3B fans in India, who react to everything he says. :)) Like playing with a child.

Shahid Afridi love you sir.

Afridi the whole of Pakistan has your back.

The more he speaks the more the media gets material to bury the aman ki asha nautanki types.

Whats your problem with aman exactly? Does a state of war benefit you somehow?

I would love aman. Just cant tolerate the fakies tom toming it for material gains. Cricketers singers actors journalists cant bring peace, it will come when both govts decide enough is enough.

Afridi/Gambhir/etc buying into their own hype. All this will be forgotten by next week when the media latch on to someone else.

So India has no problem when Gambhir makes provocative comments but it's headline news when Afridi does it. Hello! Pak is a free country, we can say whatever we want!

Indian media is reacting like this due to following reasons;

1) To discourage anyone who speaks about the atrocities in Kashmir.
2) To instill a sense of nationalism among its people so that they can overlook their own differences.

They have been doing this since long.

What did Gambhir said about Pakistan?

Deflecting the issue and making it about the person than the issue...

Saw an interview of Rahul Kanwal on Geo by Shahzeb Khanzada... When Shahzeb asked him once question, he would goto another topic, when he talked about Balochistan, Kanwal won't accept facts that shift goalposts again..

These Indians presenters in the media make a living out of selling a narrative that suits their agendas. Deflect and divert

By suddenly coming up with these statements, i just think that Afridi is soon going to join Politics.

Thats why suddenly he has become this nationalist.

Agree with this completely.

Indian media will latch on to anything for TRP.

Recently a Bollywood celeb died in Dubai, and the Indian media made a mountain out of a molehill with excessive and invasive news coverage. They almost made it looked like she was murdered in cold blood.

It was disgusting.

This tweet from Afridi is just a spark for them to ignite and start a nationwide bush fire. I am sure they will start round table conferences, and invite all kinds of lecherous communal people to spread more hate and increase TRP!

Meanwhie, if Afridi is planning to join politics, he has made a decent start for his campaign. :afridi1

Dont think so

India is hardly an issue discussed in mainstream politics of Pakistan to gain votes

Whereas in India, hate mongering against Pakistan can get you a lot support in elections

Spot on.
If there are terrorist agendas at play in IOK, you can safely say the Indian terrorists are the ones with uniforms.
India and Israel have been collaborating for years and take their cues from each other when it comes to killing innocent Kashmiris and Palestinians, with the difference being Israel will carry out a customary 'Land-Grab' in the process.

Pretty Sure he is going to be a politician soon.Has a good shot too.

Salman Rushdie once said how Imran Khan used to be known as “Im the Dim” for being not so bright in British social circles.

However Imran spoke English really well, was a handsome guy and was good at his job which is playing cricket and that was good enough to sell the whole bill of goods as the savior and a potential prime minister.

Afridi on the other hand checks one box for sure based on how Pakistanis drool over and gloat about his hair and good looks...has a mass appeal and I also heard he brings along a certain voter base.

He is making all the right moves here and I am sure it is very well calculated.

If his politics is anything like his cricket, lot of entertaining days ahead and unfortunately some of them may not be for the right reasons from a Pakistani perspective.

And look where IK and Rushdie are now.

Pretty good for "Im the Dim". :ik

Well Imran Khan being a prime minister candidate is not a “in your face” to Rushdie for sure :))

He was having a good chuckle about the same when he said that.

Rushdie has 15 million in his bank account. I don’t think he cares much at all about SC politics in general.

Precisely. It is annoying for many Indians to see the Indian media going berserk over a retired player's comments.

India should take the advice of Kapil Dev and give Afridi the ignore he deserves.

Honestly even Pakistanis don't follow what Afridi says. He has a habit of stirring the pot.....and he's pretty good at it.. He even recently made a comment on how he'd take back his retirement if Mickey wanted him in the T20 squad. He really shouldn't be taken seriously, by anyone!

I agree with you and as I said, the cricketing fraternity for obvious reasons didn’t catch his bait and didn’t make a single political remark but they were compelled to respond though for obvious reasons...I mean if something as stupid as Mauka mauka and baap beta gets people riled up ,surely a political comment would.

Now coming to Indian media yes they have blown this out of proportion. Agree on that as well.

by talking about it incessantly.

Interesting to note no other current or former Pak cricketers have said anything in support.

He obviously wants to join politics, but his elders have managed to discourage him from doing so.
Honestly he shouldnt, nothing good ever comes out of it.
