More of a concern is the fact that while almost everyone else seems to be improving their overall fitness, Imad looks to be heading the other way.

He would be missed in this series.
His seam-up deliveries against Colin and Guptill would have created a lot of problems for the Kiwi top order(barring Kane Williamson).

This guy needs to sort out his fitness, in his short international career he has missed out in a lot of matches.

Btw, the signs are ominous for Pakistan.
Shinwari, Junaid and Imad injured, Hafeez can't bowl, it's getting very tough for Pakistan.
 
A knee injury doesn't mean he has poor fitness. You can't plan for an injury like that. It his weight and athletiscm in the field which show his fitness isn't that great.
 
He needs to improve his overall game in order to have long term prospects in the team.

He is supposed to be the hard hitter but he so far doesnt fit the role.

Lets see if some other player takes the chance.
 
Why he needed to play in Rubbish T10 when he was not fit and was injured.

hafeez not being able to bowl is good for cricket, we don't need cheaters, besides, he is an inconsistent batsman, he will be kicked out of the team sooner.

Junaid is a mediocre bowler.

Shinwari is new, he has potential, only big loss.
 
I have seen Imad quite a few times in fast food restaurants of Islamabad eating burgers, which isn't a very healthy thing for an athlete. Plus there was Babar Azam with him once as well.
 
Was only a matter of time till he's knees started giving way to that ever growing belly. I'm surprised he hasn't failed fitness tests previously.
 
I feel the knee issue is prevalent, but at the same time the team management and selectors are indirectly giving Imad Wasim a hint go work on your fitness, and it's about time too.
 
He's big and strong. Just needs to lose fat.

Think Pakistan will miss him as Shadab and Nawaz usually get phaintee.

He's better than nawaz tbf. But in nz conditions I prefer to play faheem at 7 rather than a spinner anyway so I don't think imad is that big a loss. Imad is still useful for Pakistan since Hafeez is banned because he can bowl those economical overs in the middle overs which in turn put pressure on the batsmen and they lose their wickets to the more wicket taking bowlers like Hassan Ali. Also he's a useful batsman as we saw in the champions trophy final. He's not the best but he's been the spin bowling all rounder we have needed after afridis retirement.

Imad had an economy rate of 4.38 in ODIs this year. Actually the best among all bowlers in the world (non-minnows w/30+ overs bowled). Only time he got destroyed was in CT match in which he had to bowl the last over (doesn't count).

I think Nawaz is good too, just not as good as Imad yet.

Shadab and Nawaz aren't as good as Imad in batting, but better in fielding.
 
In the presence of Shadab Khan & Fahim Ashraf, I think Imad Wasim can't deserve space in the playing 11. However, he can be the backup All rounder in the 15 / 16 member squad.

I'm happy / satisfied that Imad has been dropped whatever the reason it was. But yes Muhammad Nawaz should also have no place. Imad is somehow better than Muhammad Nawaz.

There is another all rounder awaiting his call in the national side, Hasan Mohsin. I think we can try him also. But in the presence of Fahim & Shadab, i think both Nawaz & Imad should not be selected in the team.
 
A limited cricketer who needed to work hard to make a significant contribution on the international level. Unfortunately , like a lot of past PAK players he has taken advantage of his sudden fame and completely disregarded his own form and fitness.

Every time he comes to the crease he tries silly ramps and reverse sweeps w/o getting bat on ball and every time he fields he looks like he's added a kilo. As a bowler he is one-dimensional and only has utility in T20 cricket.

Very disappointing, especially considering his strong performances in England last year.

Right ! but Imad is failing continously in last 2-3 tours. Plus Fahim is far better option to have in place of Imad.
 
A bit unfortunate really but he was never a lower order power hitter, he's capable of putting up big scores with the bat but usually at a SR at 90+ which is good for a number 6 batsman. I can honestly see Shadab having a good tour in NZ and the likes of Fahim will be tested with the bat.

Agree with what you said about Shadab & Fahim.

Imad is so over-rated / hyped member of ODI team. He is not at all suitable for the ODI format. having 2 bowling all rounders are enough, and the best two can be no other than Shadab & Fahim, but if Fahim fails then Amir Yamin can be given chance, if he too fails, then obviously we can go for Imad Wasim Bukhari as a 3rd option after the failure / injuries of the first two options.

He won't !! It will be Fahim & Shadab in the playing 11, instead of Imad & Shadab.

Muhammad Nawaz won't be in the playing 11, he is going on tour as a backup of Shadab. Means if Shadab gets injured (God forbid) then Nawaz will be there in playing 11.

I doubt it. That would be probably be the case in UAE/Asia but not in NZ, I think Shadab will be the only spinner in the 11.
 
Pakistan all-rounder Imad Wasim left for England on early Wednesday morning from Islamabad to get his knee treated.

Imad has not played a competitive game after suffering a head injury in the match against Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

However, during his time off the field, the Cardiff-born left-hander also suffered a relapse of his knee injury which he originally sustained during the T10 competition in December last year.

Because of that, Imad was also not selected for the national team in the three-match T20I series against West Indies in early April.

Sources confirmed that Imad will work with a knee specialist in England and is eyeing a return to the national team for the two-match T20I series against Scotland in July.

Imad, so far, has represented Pakistan in 30 ODIs and 25 T20Is, where he has collectively scored 552 runs and claimed 55 wickets.
