As per details, the PTI chief Imran Khan said it is better to start the ‘Jail Bharo’ movement than protest on road. They are fond of getting us jails, we will let them get their wish, he added.

Unmute
Imran Khan said after the coming 90 days whoever stays in the government, article 6 will apply on them. The nation is expecting that the judiciary will stand by the constitution.

The former prime minister Imran Khan claimed that nothing is in control of the current government. People should think about where is this country heading.

Speaking of overseas Pakistanis, the PTI chairman claimed that the 10 million Pakistanis who are living abroad are the country’s strength. He said even if two million of them invest in Pakistan they would need to ask other countries for help.

The overseas Pakistanis who came to Pakistan during PTI tenure, have been going back now.

The PTI chairman lambasted the PDM-led government, he said that the prices of petrol, electricity and gas have hiked up and it will increase more in near future.

He predicted that the PDM government is now looking for escape amid the increasing inflation.

Furthermore, the PTI chairman Imran Khan said that the ARY head of news was arrested at midnight 3 am. They break doors, enter homes and arrest people which affects the children. Whoever speaks against the regime they are abducted.

Former prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday accused the coalition government of using the recent wave of terrorism to gain “political mileage” for their benefit.

In a televised address, the PTI chairman claimed that terrorism was at its lowest-ever point during his government but resurfaced with a vengeance during the “current regime”.

“Look at the graph of terrorism and how it came down during the PTI government,” he said. “Why wasn’t there any terrorism when PTI was in the federal government?”

Imran pinned the responsibility of rising terrorism on incumbent Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as he recalled the sacrifices made by the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the war on terror.

“This is why they (KP public) came out yesterday and thronged the streets in fear that there might be another operation,” he said, adding that countless innocent lives are lost during anti-terror operations.

The PTI chief added that “lies” were spewed by PM Shehbaz in the cabinet meeting over the weekend regarding KP not utilising the terrorism funding properly.

“KP spent Rs600 billion in nine years. We made four police training schools, an elite training school in Nowshera, a special combat force to fight terrorism,” Imran said. “This is why terrorism subsided. A DNA lab was also made in 2017 at Khyber Medical College.”

Commenting on the National Finance Commission (NFC) award, the ex-PM said only two provinces, Punjab and KP, followed through on the commitment and gave money for the uplift of tribal districts.

Imran said Sindh and Balochistan did not provide any money. “We invested Rs55b for the tribal districts. The PDM government only gave Rs5b.”

‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’
Imran also announced a “Jail Bharo Tehreek” as the next step to be taken by the PTI in light of the prevailing political situation that has seen several of its top leaders and allies spend time behind bars.

Elaborating on the movement, the PTI chief said “instead of thronging the streets, getting violent and ransacking places, we will now fill the jails of the country”.

This way, he said, the federal government’s “new hobby” of putting every senior PTI leader in jail will also be fulfilled.

“Entire party and the people should prepare for the Jail Bharo Tehreek”, Imran said. “Whenever I give the signal, we all will get out and give our arrests to the authorities.”

The announcement comes after the arrests of several PTI leaders and its allies over the past few months — a sequence that began with Shehbaz Gill and has since seen Senator Azam Swati, Fawad Chaudhry, and Sheikh Rashid spend time in detention.

Imran had announced a similar movement in October in a bid to force the incumbent government to hold elections but it did not pan out as planned.

Meanwhile, PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi said, “We will fill the jails of the entire country on the call of Chairman Imran Khan”.

The public shouted that we know who the namaloom are. The public arent in the mood to be fooled by the duffers and their chimps.

The announcement of “Jail Bharo Tehreek” (fill the prison movement) by Imran Khan drew strong reaction from the government side on Saturday as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb chided the PTI leadership, saying that it didn’t even have the courage to go to jail and the announcement was merely to use party workers.

The government’s spokesperson threw a gauntlet to PTI leadership to lead by example and go to jail before the party workers and supporters as she addressed a joint press conference with Minister of State for Poverty Alleviation and Social Safety Faisal Karim Kundi in Islamabad.

The information minister challenged the PTI leadership to first surrender themselves before the courts and withdraw bails taken in different cases before making big announcements.

Not sure this is a wise decision. The last thing you want to do is to have PTI's work force locked up. Also IK will become a very easy target to eliminate via food poisoning once he is in jail.

This is not the West where prisoners have rights.

IK is losing it out now. He needs to have patience, this Gov will not agree to an election before time and may even delay it further.

Khan is out of the game! This is pure desperation and helplessness.

Its a very good tactic The imported govt is digging their own graves

Pakistan has never seen inflation like this Its in turmoil economically thanks to these chors

Hes just piling on the pressure

This is another suicidal decision after the abolishment of the regional parliaments.

Imran is losing the plot lately.

He thinks taking the moral high ground via civil disobedience etc will work in Pakistan.

Imran Khan is just trying to remain in news. But I doubt there can bigger news than IMF and default. No way there will be early elections. He will only end up further distancing Establishment.

Pressure doesnt work against the PDM. We all know what happened after Khan dissolved the assemblies. Khan has been scoring his own goal since he was dismissed.

This will be a suicidal move where his opponents and establishment will find it easier to eliminate him via food poisoning.

This move can work if the awaam has an Iran 1979 Islamic Revolution type reaction which is unlikely.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Vice President Fawad Chaudhry said on Sunday that they are ready to follow Imran Khan’s call for the Jail Bharo movement and he will be the first to surrender from Jhelum, ARY News reported.

While addressing PTI workers in Jhelum, Fawad Chaudhry praised the former military ruler General Retired Pervez Musharraf who passed away in Dubai today. He said Pervez Musharraf did something good for Pakistan by ousting Nawaz Sharif.

A day after PTI Chairman Imran Khan asked his workers and supporters to prepare for a ‘Jail Bharo’ (court arrest) movement, party leaders said they would be first to surrender once Mr Khan issues a call.

Meanwhile, the government has taken a firm stand in the face of agitation from Mr Khan, with PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Sunday launching a fresh salvo against Mr Khan, and Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah saying that the government was ready to arrest the PTI chief once the party starts the court arrest drive.

Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, former state minister Farrukh Habib said the workers and leaders of the party were waiting for Mr Khan’s call to fill jails. “The party leadership and workers are not afraid of going to jail when Imran Khan calls. I will go to jail first,” he said.

He said everyone was aware of the country’s situation for the past two months and the current government had ruined the country’s economy.

Serious matter for Pakistan given our halaat approaching those of SL

So lets not joke around.

Plot was hatched to freeze Kashmir issue, PM reveals

• Calls for introspection to find answers to unresolved issues of Kashmir, Palestine
• Special AJK assembly session, symbolic human chains mark Solidarity Day
• Shehbaz says IMF scrutinising every subsidy

MUZAFFARABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday disclosed that a plot had been conceived to freeze the Kashmir issue for 20 years but hastened to declare that no Pakistani could even think of allowing this to happen.

“Moments ago, some people shared with me in the [speaker’s] chamber that a plot was conceived to defer the plebiscite in Kashmir until the next 20 years. There cannot be any conspiracy and cruelty with the Kashmiris bigger than this,” he said in his address at the special session of the Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Legislative Assembly here. The session was presided over by Speaker Chaudhry Anwarul Haq.

“I think, no Pakistani politician or serviceman or soldier can even think anything like this,” added the premier.

In the same breath, he added: “The Almighty has ordained for sagaciousness and consultations to resolve issues and if we adopt this course and employ all of our resources while having full faith in Him, we can get the Kashmiris their right.”

Ex-prime minister Imran Khan on Monday appealed to PTI workers to register with the party’s district presidents for the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ (court arrest drive), vowing to launch the movement within a few days.

Imran had announced the movement last week after apparently running out of options to press the PML-N-led government to hold elections in two provinces — Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — and stop it from “political victimisation”.

“Now we have two ways — one to come on roads and go for wheel-jam but it will hurt Pakistan economically. The other is to allow this imported government to have its desire to put us behind bars fulfilled by the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’,” the PTI chief said in a televised address from his residence in Lahore’s Zaman Park on Saturday.

What will this accomplish? They will jail them and register a FIR. Leaders will come out clean and party workers a d common folks will spend years getting that report off their records. All this for IK to become PM. If he is confident of coming back to power how does few months make a difference. Looks like desperation to stay in news

This movement will be a joke if the senior PTI leadership including IK do not offer themselves up first. IK is adopting Ghandi like tactics in the Pakistani environment where people are tortured, beaten up and blatantly killed in the open. Extremely delusional.

IK sahib needs a reality check, the prisons are already suffering from excessive overcrowding and inadequate to non existent water/electricity supply. How many hours will the PTI leadership survive in such squalid conditions?! Sometimes IK seems foolishly naïve.

Senior PTI Leaders have now leaked that IK admits he blundered by resigning from the National Assembly and dissolving the Punjab, KP Assembly and that he should have listened to Pervez Elahi instead of his incompetent PTI advisors who lack political foresight. Everything Pervez Elahi warned him about is now turning out to be true.

The opposition with their antics had fooled IK that they would be in trouble if he dissolved the assemblies but he has ended up falling into their trap along with the establishments and he is completely out of any leverage now.

I once remember Pervez Musharraf in an interview commented that IK needs to control his ego and get over himself and listen to people across a broad spectrum and accept views which conflict with his own because not every decision he makes is correct and grounded in reality.

These recent decisions have now finalized his existinsion from Pakistani politics and have put a dangerous mark on his life.

I agree here. I don't know any other instance where state government leaders were keen to dissolve the assemblies hoping to force federal elections. And why resign from federal government. It is like when entitled kids run away with bat and ball as soon as they are out. This is extremely naive and political blunder from PTI leadership. If PTI held on to the governments, they would have had upper hand as the elections approached closer. They could have ensured their team is everywhere, announced election budget, etc. Overall, they would be in a better position. Now any caretake government will be at best neutral and at worst pro establishment. PTI has handed over advantage to the opposition. If they stayed in the opposition in federal government and held on to their governments elsewhere, they can achieve much more. Now everyone will look at them as losers

Overall IK seems to be very politically naive and lacks foresight. He is probably better as a party mentor who can bring people to election booth rather than an astute politician who can lead a country.

I get very nervous listening to media reporters. The Pakistani nation's non reaction to IK's assassination attempt in Nov 2022 has emboldened the PDM and the establishment. They are now very confident that they can openly eliminate IK via any tool i.e. religious fanatic, terrorist attack, supari, food poisoning or even a commando raid and the nation will be non flustered. They are confident that any violence on the streets can be physically dealt with.

I don't recall any country in the world where the ruling elite, establishment can openly murder a popular leader out in the open and be allowed to get away with it.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI) "Jail Bharo Tehreek" kicked off on Wednesday as party leader Malik Amir Dogar surrendered before police in Multan, Express News reported.

As per details, PTI and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers clashed with each other outside the office of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) when nomination papers for the NA-155 constituency were being submitted.

The ECP, taking notice of the incident, directed action against the culprits. Soon after, police raided the guest house (dera) of Dogar, and arrested him along with 10 PTI workers.

Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said he and his family will not betray Imran Khan despite “threats of arrest and political victimisation for changing loyalty”.

Talking to media persons after visiting a returning officer in connection with scrutiny of his nomination papers to contest a by-election for NA-156, Multan, on Friday, the former foreign minister said his son Zain Qureshi was receiving threats of arrest, but they would not switch loyalty and are ready to court arrests during the ‘Jail Bharo’ (court arrest) movement.

Mr Qureshi alleged that the government and administration were trying to change election results, but democratic forces would not allow vote snatching.

He said resigning from assemblies and contesting by-elections were a strategy of his party and it would not leave the ground vacant for Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidates.

PTI releases ‘Jail Bharo’ drive details
200 workers, five leaders from Lahore will take part in movement on day one

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has warned that if the election schedule is not announced immediately, it will launch the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ while releasing its details.

The PTI chief reviewed the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ in a meeting with the movement's focal person Senator Ijaz Chaudhry.

The party finalised that arrests would be given in phases after the PTI chairman announced a launching date for the movement.

On the first day of the movement, 200 workers and five leaders from Lahore and on the second day, 200 party workers and five leaders from Peshawar would take part in the movement.

Daily, the party leaders and workers from a city would present themselves for arrest. At least, 3,000 workers from major cities of Pakistan will take part in the movement.

Imran directed Ijaz to collect data from all provincial and division presidents. The senator told the party chief that he would personally review the preparations for the movement in all the provinces and soon submit a report.

A separate meeting chaired by its chief Imran Khan was held to discuss the Punjab Assembly elections following the indecision between the ECP and provincial governor over announcing a date for the polls.

Former prime minister Imran Khan announced on Friday that the party’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ (court arrest drive) would commence from Lahore on February 22 (Wednesday).

Imran had announced the movement on February 5 after apparently running out of options to press the PML-N-led government to hold elections in two provinces — Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa — and stop it from “political victimisation”.

In a televised address today, the PTI chairman said: “I am announcing, God willing, my ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ from Wednesday. I am telling my entire party today to prepare.”

He said that the movement would begin from Lahore before moving to other major cities in the country.

Sheikh Rashid, Parvez Elahi put their weight behind PTI’s court arrest drive

PTI allies Sheikh Rashid Ahmed and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi have backed Imran Khan’s court arrest drive (Jail Bharo Tehreek), which Mr Khan plans to launch from Lahore on Wednes*day and then expand to other cities.

Both Mr Ahmed and Mr Elahi announced their support for the movement after holding separate meetings with the PTI chief on Saturday at his Zaman Khan residence.

Talking to the media after meeting Mr Khan, Awami Muslim League chief Sheikh Rashid declared he would be the first person to get arrested if the PTI chief wished so. However, he said he would formally announce his court arrest plan on Sunday (today) morning.

“The PTI chief has asked me to return to the workers’ camp outside his residence late in the night and tomorrow morning,” he said.

The former interior minister said Mr Khan had become a voice of the nation and all must stand with him to “save this country from looters and law violators”.

Mr Ahmed warned the rulers that they would be charged with treason under Article 6 if they stretched elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa beyond 90 days. “People are dying of hunger and the only way to support and sustain this country is to go for fresh general elections to bring a people-backed government,” he said.

Reacting to a statement from PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz that the present government was not her government, Mr Ahmed asked, “Whose government is this and who brought it?”

He accused the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) coalition government of stealing electricity worth Rs380 billion and recovering the amount by inflating the power bills of citizens.

The huge turnout has put the fake Hafiz and the East Ind company in a total bind. They have promised the bhagora that IK would be jailed and PTI would be split up, and so far its backfired spectacularly. The Generals know that if they lose this battle, many are going down and that has never happened before. Well done Lahore

The PTI’s Jail Bharo Tehreek (court arrest drive) has commenced from Lahore which former prime minister Imran Khan says is aimed to counter the “attack” on the party’s fundamental rights and the economic “meltdown”.

There were no reports of arrests so far.

In a series of tweets on Wednesday, the PTI chief said: “Today we start our Jail Bharo campaign for Haqeeqi Azadi for two main reasons.

“One, it is a peaceful, non-violent protest against the attack on our constitutionally-guaranteed fundamental rights. We are facing sham FIRs and NAB cases, custodial torture, attacks on journalists and social media people.”

Second, Imran went on, the drive was against economic meltdown “brought on by cabal of crooks who have money laundered billions in looted wealth and gotten NROs for themselves while crushing the people, especially the poor and middle class, under the burden of spiralling inflation and rising unemployment”.

PTI’s official Twitter account tweeted pictures and videos of party leaders including Asad Umar and Azam Swati converging at Lahore’s Charing Cross as the movement commenced from the Punjab capital.

Separately, in a video message shared on PTI’s official Twitter account, the ex-premier urged people to take to the streets for “true freedom”.

“Actually, this campaign will take you to a free and happy Pakistan. And this will only happen when the state protects your fundamental rights,” he said, adding that the Jail Bharo Tehreek “is the name of jihad”.

Imran also said that the more people participated in the drive, the faster Pakistan would achieve “true freedom”.

The drive will begin from Lahore’s Mall Road at 2pm today.

Qureshi wants to ‘set tradition’
In a talk with reporters in Lahore, Qureshi said Imran told him to not turn himself in for arrest as he was the “number two leader” after the party chief but Qureshi decided to “set a tradition” of the party leaders giving arrest first instead of the workers.

He also mentioned the alleged campaign being run by the PML-N against the judiciary while detailing the reason for the party’s movement.

“The attack that the PML-N leadership has carried out on the judiciary is unprecedented.

“It is my humble request to the legal fraternity, bar rooms [and] bar councils that they should not remain quiet and should play their roles [as] a responsibility applies to them.

“An institution is being threatened and obstacles are being created in their paths. Respected judges are being insulted. All this is not appropriate.”

‘All arrangements complete’
PTI Senator and focal person of the movement Senator Ejaz Chaudhry said all arrangements for the “court arrest drive” were complete.

“Our senior leaders will surrender along with 200 party workers,” Chaudhry said in a statement today.

He was of the view that the movement was “a way to achieve true freedom”.

The PTI leader claimed that a large number of people were enrolling themselves with the party to take part in the drive. “The nation is eager to get rid of imported rulers.”

Hundreds aim for jail

Earlier, PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry said that the party and its top brass were ready for the court arrest movement. “Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Asad Umar insisted that they would present themselves for arrest on the first day of the movement.”

According to ARY News, the opening day of the movement would start with a meeting to honour party members. After the meeting, the party supporters would march towards The Mall — where Section 144 is imposed — via Jail Road to give themselves up for arrests. In case, the government refused to detain the PTI activists, the rally will morph into a sit-in at Charing Cross in front of the Punjab Assembly.

After Lahore, Peshawar will witness the launch of the court arrest drive on Feb 23. Rawalpindi will follow on Feb 24, Multan on Feb 25, Gujranwala on Feb 26, Sargodha on Feb 27, and Sahiwal on Feb 28. Faisalabad will join the movement on the first day of March.

Senator Ejaz Chaudhry, who is the focal person of the Jail Bharo Tehreek, has said the party had sought 200 volunteers for the first day of the drive but more than 2,000 have signed up for the drive. He said those party leaders, who would contest the upcoming by-polls on the PTI platform, would not become part of the drive.

Section 144 imposed in Lahore

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has imposed Section 144 on The Mall, Gulberg Main Boulevard as well as outside the Punjab Civil Secretariat and its adjoining roads to prohibit all kinds of assemblies, sit-ins and processions.

Earlier, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said that the PTI’s arrest drive was aimed at creating political instability and a law and order situation in the country. The PTI is seeking media attention by creating a drama through the ‘court arrest drive’, APP quoted him as saying.

The meeting decided that the miscreants would be arrested and the law and order would be ensured in the country at all costs.

“The arrest of women and poor workers would be avoided,” the participants agreed. The minister said the record of miscreants would be maintained and their activities would be mentioned in their character certificates issued by the police.

‘Jail Bacho Tehreek’ to create political instability
Additionally, Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb lambasted Imran for “putting on a show” to create political instability in the country while demanding that the economy improves.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad today, she said, “On the one hand, you put on this show of political instability and on the other, you ask that the country’s economy is put right?”

Information and Broadcasting Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Wednesday. — DawnNewsTV.
Aurangzeb said, “The spectacle [being put on] today is that the court, FIA, NAB, institutions are calling you [but] what are you doing? Jail Bharo Tehreek that is starting from the leader’s bail.

“Movements starting from bail are Jail Bacho Tehreek [evade the jail movement],” the minister remarked.

“What is the aim of this Jail Bharo Tehreek? […] Because you do not have answers for Toshakhana, foreign funding, 190 million, three to five karats, international conspiracy [and] Al-Qadir Trust, you have started this Jail Bharo Tehreek film?”

Aurangzeb claimed the PTI was staging this “show” because the “country’s economy is being put right and […] the government is mending its foreign relations”.

“The announcement made today by the Chinese bank of 700m dollars; is this why Jail Bharo Tehreek is being held?”

If it were up to me, there would be no arrests: Khawaja Saad
On Wednesday, PML-N leader and Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafique said that if it were up to him, he would not arrest even a single PTI supporter.

PML-N leader and Railways Minister Khawaja Saad Rafique talks to media persons in Lahore. — DawnNewsTV
“I never support political workers going to jail but if someone is pressing on it, then morally the leader should be the first one to surrender,” he told media persons in Lahore.

Saad said that party supremo Nawaz Sharif spent a long time behind bars during the dictatorship of retired General Pervez Musharraf. “And even in this unannounced martial law this time, Nawaz and his family spent time in jail.”

However, he contended that Imran was himself seeking bail but was encouraging his supporters to go to jail.

“This is the prerogative of the provincial government on the treatment [of the protesters], but if it were up to me […] the police wouldn’t be there when people turned up for arrests.

“They would have then just roamed around and gone home eventually,” he added.

The PML-N leader further said that Imran had faced nothing compared to what Nawaz and his family went through.

“We have been behind bars for months … have you ever seen anyone cry? On the other hand, they start crying within days […] they haven’t even faced a tenth of what we went through […] we don’t want them to face what we did, but does he [Imran] even have an ounce of shame in him?”

PTI leaders presented themselves for arrest on Wednesday as the party’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ (court arrest drive) commenced from Lahore, which according to ex-premier Imran Khan is aimed at countering the “attack” on the party’s fundamental rights and the economic “meltdown”.

The PTI shared footage of party leaders, including Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Asad Umar and Senator Azam Swati, sitting inside a police van. The party also claimed that those responsible for making the arrests had “vanished”.

When the history of PK is written in a 100 years time, IK will go to down as the 3rd most important figure behind Quaid and Allama. The Generals don't know what to do? Do they rig the elections or openly Impose Martial Law. No matter what they do, we are nearing Civilian Supremacy.

PTI top brass bundled off to Kot Lakhpat

• Asad Umar, Qureshi, Ejaz Chaudhry among leaders sent to prison on first day of ‘court arrest drive’
• Police say 81 jailed for violating Section 144; Fawad claims ‘500-700’ workers courted arrest

LAHORE: On the first day of the ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek’ launched by the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI), at least “81 party supporters”, including members of its top brass, were rounded up by the police and moved to Kot Lakhpat jail after they courted arrest at Charing Cross on The Mall, on Wednesday.

Party supporters had moved in a convoy, led by Dr Yasmin Rashid, and reached Charing Cross via Jail Road, where they staged a sit-in and chanted slogans against the federal and the Punjab governments.

Videos circulated on social media showed a large number of PTI workers who had thronged the site of the sit-in in front of the Punjab Assembly.

SECTION 144 IMPOSED IN PESHAWAR

PESHAWAR: Amid the current law and order situation, the deputy commissioner of Peshawar has imposed Section 144 in the provincial capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, ARY news reported on Thursday.

The provincial capital has been prohibited of gatherings of more than five persons and any violations of Section 144 will result in legal action, a statement released by the deputy commissioner’s Office Peshawar said.

The statement furthered that gathering of more than five individuals is not permitted given the existing condition of law and order.

Earlier, the Punjab government directed law enforcers to take legal actions against the violators of Section 144 in Lahore following the PTI’s ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek.’

This is so sad to witness. Pakistan army at one time was a great institution but since Mushy has sold out its people.

Have free and fair general elections to end this but the powers in charge now havent looted enough for their liking.

Another gimmick by Khan. He is very popular but does not understand the ground realities and he is not willing to entertain difference of opinion.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi has been sent to jail for 30 days! Now, the PTI will understand that such gimmicks are never useful.

Lol, the opposition will be more than happy to have the entire PTI and IK supporters in jail. The international establishment is on PDM's side and doesn't want IK back in power therefore they will ignore all these human rights violations.

Does IK seriously believe these Ghandi type tactics will work against the Pakistani millitary, Sharifs and Zardari? I would love to know what he has been smoking

The tactics Imran uses will only work in civilised and first world nations. Khan is so naive! He feels that the opposition will catapult because their morals would force them to.

LHC SCOLDS PTI FOR OVERBURDENING JUDICIARY AFTER VOLUNTARILY ARRESTS

The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday scolded Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for ‘overburdening’ the judiciary after voluntarily surrendering for the arrest during Jail Bharo Tehreek.

Justice Shahram Sarwar passes these remarks while hearing the pleas of Ijaz Chaudhry, Zain Qureshi and others for the recovery of party leaders that voluntarily surrendered themselves to the law enforcers under ‘Jail Bharo Tehreek.’

At the outset of the hearing, the LHC judge asked what do you want from us?, when PTI leaders voluntarily surrendered themselves for arrests.

Police were not arresting PTI leaders and workers but they forced themselves into prison van – the comment cracked a laugh in the courtroom.

First, PTI leaders surrendered voluntarily for the arrest and now you are here to put pressure on the court,” Justice Shahram Sarwar remarked.

The lawyers of the petitioners pleaded with the LHC to seek a report from the government on the arrest. During the hearing, Zain Qureshi said police had arrested his father. He sought orders from authorities to allow him to meet his father. At which, Justice Chaudhry said he should go to Chairing Cross – the point in Lahore city from where the movement was begun – if he wanted to meet his father.

Later, the court issued notices to the respondents and sought reply from the government till Feb 27.

Who is this international establishment that is terrified of IK and why?

Who is this international establishment that is terrified of IK and why?

I wouldnt say terrified but it looks like the MBS/MBZ axis definitely do not like Imran Khan

They prefer those in power in Pakistan who would be subservient in all ways

Ok but if powerful countries/ leaders have an issue with Ik, how is he going to be productive for an economically struggling Pakistan. Never understood that.

Let’s say if really Saudi, USA (as Ik claimed), France and on top of that perennial enemies like India and Israel hate IK than how does it benefit Pakistan? That’s pretty much some of the most influential counties in world politics including India regardless of what you think.

Punjab is not a land where there can be any kind of revolution.

Imran Khan is barking up the wrong tree, after exhausting his supporters with Jalsas, Dharnas, Jail Bharos and whatnot.

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah on Sunday said that the government will first direct Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders and workers - who voluntarily presented themselves for arrests - to far-off jails before sending them to prisons in Lahore or Rawalpindi.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, the minister said that between 100 to 150 people have thus far courted arrests as part of the PTI's 'Jail Bharo' movement -- a drive that seeks to mark a protest against the government's policies and to put pressure on the ruling coalition to announce elections.

Jail Bharo Tehreek has become an embarrassment: Rana Sanaullah
Rana Sanaullah says Imran Khan had decided to spread anarchy throughout the country through the Jail Bharo Movement, which had turned into an “embarrassing movement

Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah said on Sunday that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan had decided to spread anarchy throughout the country through the Jail Bharo Movement, which had turned into an “embarrassing movement”.

While addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the interior minister said, “There are hardly two hundred people who have been arrested in the Jail Bharo Movement, and 80 per cent of them want to be released. They would be detained for 30 days at least.”

He added that the PTI’s plan to surround Islamabad had failed miserably. “They wanted to fill the jails and hence the government did that, so that they become well aware of the detention.”

He said, “Initially, the government would fill the far-flung jails and later on they will start filling the Lahore and Rawalpindi jails also.”

Rana Sana said, “We respect the judiciary and weakening the judiciary would add to the state’s difficulties. Bench fixing should also be inquired, sou motu should be taken and the responsible people should be rebuked.” It should be looked into if any judge has personal terms with Pervaiz Elahi, he said.

Who is actually advising IK nowadays?

He always had good intentions but is he being ill advised now?

Or is he the type to decide everything himself without consulting anyone

The Lahore central jail authority on Monday confirmed a 30-day detention for Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) top leadership, being held in different jails across Punjab, over allegedly creating a law and order situation and hampering security arrangements for Pakistan Super League (PSL) teams by blocking Lahore’s Mall Road.

The home department and the central jail authority, complying with the Lahore High Court’s (LHC) order, submitted reports revealing that PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi was detained in district jail Attock, Asad Umar in Rajanpur, Umar Sarfraz Cheema in Bhakkar, Azam Sawati in Rahim Yar Khan, Murad Ras in DG Khan, Muhammad Khan Madni in Bahawalpur, Waleed Iqbal, Azam Khan Niazi and Ihsan Dogar in Layyah jail.

The home department in its report stated that the aforesaid 'detainees and their accomplices' blocked Mall Road and a created law and order situation.

“There is a ban on political rallies, processions and gatherings at Mall Road. They by doing this, not only created public nuisance but also seriously hampered security arrangements of PSL teams and foreign players,” stated the report.

The Civil Lines division superintendent of police and district in-charge of the intelligence branch in Lahore recommended that the PTI leaders be detained “in order to prevent the said anti-social elements from their unlawful activities and acting in a manner prejudicial to public safety or maintenance of Public Order Ordinance 1960 in the public interest, they for a period of 30-days.”

The respondent, additional chief secretary home, following aforesaid recommendations requested the deputy commissioner Lahore that detention of the above-said activists may be ordered under Section 3 of the Ordinance for a period of 30 days, the report further stated.

However, LHC’s Justice Shehram Sarwar adjourned proceedings till March 3 for further arguments in different petitions filed by PTI’s leaders Fawad Chaudhry, Chaudhry Ejaz, and others seeking the release of the leaders and workers who voluntarily offered their arrests on the call of PTI chairman Imran Khan under the party’s “Jail Bharo Tehreek”.

Of course he has a team.

Its a good tactic, sadly you have to embarass the crooks in charge, take away their lame threats and show them no fear. When you have the people behind you, you will win regardless.

Yes one lead by a competent leader like Imran Khan not a bunch of lowlife thieves charlatans and traitors.

So wanting elections to be on time is creating chaos. As Dr Mooed Pirzada said the Inds are scared of IK. Otherwise they wouldn't even be commenting on IK.

Bro why don’t you think through before you say such things.

For what it’s worth a decision to revoke article 370 which was always a debate in Indian parliament for 70+ years was taken in a flash when IK was in power. politicians were always scared to touch that because they feared provocation. Yet it happened so smoothly.

IK might be honest or you feel he will do good for Pakistan but there is not a single attribute you can tell me why India should be scared?

If you talk about honesty then look no further than Modi for all the demonization he gets even Ik and his party gave examples of his honesty lol.

Give me 3 good reasons why India fears Ik? Start with 1.

Are you sure your not scared. Just look any social media, look at the comments on Dawn or on here and they all have one thing in common- desperate attacks on IK. You guys know that as long as IK is alive, he will call you out and mean it. Our Generals and the mafia played the public and their badniyaati has been exposed

PTI announces ‘historic public rally’ in Lahore on Wednesday
Party leader Hammad Azhar says no one can stop ex-PM's voice as his voice is Pakistan's voice right now

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has announced that it will hold a "historic" rally in Lahore on Wednesday, which will be attended by party chairman and former prime minister Imran Khan.

The announcement comes as Imran Khan has been evading arrest attempts by law enforcing agencies and is facing charges of money laundering and illegally selling gifts received during his tenure as prime minister.

Despite the ongoing legal issues, the PTI leadership remains undeterred and is keen to showcase its strength in Lahore.

Speaking at a press conference, party leader Hammad Azhar said, "When that lion (Imran Khan) will leave Zaman Park on Wednesday, there will be historic scenes in Lahore. Future generations would read and see the pictures and videos of [this event]. They will understand this is how a nation becomes alive."

Aleema says IK may ask expats to halt remittances

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman Imran Khan has said he would call overseas Pakistanis to halt remittances if the government failed to fulfil his two demands related to the release of his party’s workers and a judicial probe into May 9 and November 26 incidents.

Talking to reporters outside the Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, Tuesday, Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, while quoting her brother, said Khan delayed the call of halting remittances for a few days upon the recommendation of his party aides.

“If the government fails to fulfil our two demands, then he will make a call to overseas Pakistanis to stop sending remittances to the country,” she said, quoting Khan.

Aleema Khan said that the PTI founding chairman delayed the call to halt sending remittances as the party leadership told him it would have a negative impact on the country’s economy.

She said that Khan demanded the immediate formation of an independent judicial commission, comprising senior most Supreme Court judges to conduct transparent investigations of May 9th and action against PTI’s workers on November 26 as well as release of party workers.

Earlier, the prosecution completed arguments in the Al-Qadir Trust case against Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.

The Accountability Court judge, Nasir Javed Rana, while hearing the case at Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, sought final arguments from Khan and his wife’s counsel today (Wednesday) after the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) prosecutor Amjad Pervaiz completed his final arguments.

The jail authorities produced Khan before the court and Khan’s wife also attended the hearing.

The NAB prosecutor, while arguing before the court, said that the deed was signed on December 6, 2019, while the first installment of the amount was deposited on November 29, 2019, in the Supreme Court’s account.

The deed was approved by the federal cabinet on December 3,2019, he said, adding that even the cabinet was not informed that the first installment had reached Pakistan.

He said that the negotiations between the Assets Recovery Unit (ARU) and the National Crime Agency, UK (NCA, UK) since December 2018. The deed was sent to NCA before the approval of the federal cabinet, he said, adding that later, the deed was approved by the cabinet.

The prosecutor said that there is no law that prohibits that the deed signed between ARU and NCA not be public. According to the NAB law, the grants or donations taken by the public office holder are the property of the government, he said.

He alleged that PTI’s founding chairman as prime minister provided favour against which he received donations.

The prosecutor said that 240 kanals land had been transferred in the name of Farah Gogi. He said that there was no existence of the trust at the time land was transferred in the name of Zulfi Bukhari.

He said that under the law any matter to be discussed in the cabinet will be circulated seven days before its discussion.

The court adjourned hearing of the case till today (Wednesday) following the completion of final arguments of the prosecution.

Ha.

Jail bharo as long as it is not his sons in jail, just others. Stop remittances 'cuz he doesn't need any, but other families do to simply survive.

Hypocrisy only led to his downfall. And long may it continue.
