Yes, that too was in the last edition where England goofed up a target of 130 (in a 20-over game due to rain), a match that the team batting second should´ve won, too.

In the grand scheme of things, such a stat may mean nothing, but I thought this is at least an interesting piece of stat from the past seven finals - with one being a no result of course due to rain. So, in five of the six finals so far, the team batting second has succeeded in winning the match, hence the trophy.

As you rightly said this stat means nothing. Especially since in none of those games Pakistan was involved.

WCs too had similar streak (bat first and win) till SL reversed it in 1996. Then it was back again to original trend till India reversed it in 2011.

Given the conditions in England at the moment, and the kind of pitch they're expecting, I don't think toss is going to play a major role.

Whichever team keeps its nerve will win.

The thing with finals is that they have no pattern.

Every final is different. 2004 CT final, 1999 WC final is best example of this. They were very different from the rest of their respective tournaments. No stats or pattern could have predicted that.

It all depends on how much prepared team is on the given day, how well they recover from expected/unexpected setbacks and execute their plans according to the situation.
