Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) president Ehsan Mani believes that Pakistan will be fully organized and well-managed within five years to host a T20I World Cup or the Champions Trophy. He also shares his disappointment about the ICC that they only give the priority to India, Australia or England to host any ICC tournament.

When asking about how much time it will take before Pakistan can host a major tournament, the PCB chief said: “It’s extremely unfortunate that the ICC has dispensed every single major events to only three nations – India, Australia and England. We didn’t challenge it when they were doing it because of voracity and lack of knowledge about how things work in international cricket,” he said.

“Yet, there’s no point in discussing this further. We need to begin the basis now. We don’t have the framework today to have the World Cup alone. We can have a T20 World Cup or the Champions Trophy. I’m sure that in five years time we can have a T20 World Cup or the Champions Trophy.”

Current Sri Lanka has been in Pakistan to play three match ODI series and three match T20I series. This is the first visit for a foreign team in Pakistan for about fourteen days in the wake of assaulting the Sri Lankan team transport on the way to an arena in Lahore in 2009. Most of the teams have spared the nation from the snare where eight individuals were executed and many star players were harmed. After a big gap of 10 years, Sri Lanka had decided to visit Pakistan recently. During these 10 years, Pakistan hosted all their home matches in Dubai.

Mani also talked about the relationship with India and said whether India would agree to play tests against Pakistan as a part of the World Test Championship. “I don’t have a clue. But it’s India’s concern. They would not like to play against us in the World Cup yet had to play. I think they will do likewise in the World Test Championship else they should forfeit. I accept that the international cricket community will make India pay if it keeps on taking choices under political pressure and interference,” Mani said.

Hasn’t the Champions Trophy been cancelled for an extra T20 World Cup?

Its possible if the Afghans make peace.

India will refuse to play but who knows in 5 years they may have a more sensible government.

Big tournaments attract a lot of viewers and new fans which Pakistan needs.

I dont live in Karachi or Lahore, so it would be interesting to know how locals feel about hosting cricket. It disturbs their routine due to the extra security, which probably causes a whole host of issues.

Gotta set high targets to get those stadiums renovated, dont want another national stadium situation where the roof wasnt finished until the semifinal of the psl.

Pakistan used to be a great place to play ODI cricket in mid 2000s. The 2004 jeet lo d series will remain iconic although the Ajantha Mendis Asia Cup we played there somewhere in 2008 was disappointing as it seemed all matches were being played on cement roads.

Pakistan still has ability to fill stadiums and create great atmosphere for cricket

As a genuine well wisher of Pakistan and a brother of #AsianBloc your friend's best wishes remain with you always.

Hopefully more international cricket will be played there in near future.

Let there be peace.

In PM Imran Khan, you now have a person who can do good work.

Being a Pathan he can also appeal to Afghans and ensure friendship between them.

Pakistan must contribute positively I'm Afghanistan for the good things to happen. We all know of Pakistan's negative influence over the years in Afghanistan it came back to bite you and turned your own country unstable. This is why we must never play with fire.

Can sensibility prevail now finally?

By then we will not qualify for the tournament under Mish.
For the sake of Pakistan cricket please leave and take Wasim Khan, Misbah and Sarfraz with you.

Defo champions trophy...especially when there wont be one.

Difficult but not impossible. If pakistan can convince India Australia and England, rest teams will follow

But Ehsan Mani thinks that ICC will make India forfeit points if it continues to boycott Pakistan in a bilateral series.

Well nothing of that sort will happen, no one pressurised Australia and England to play in Zim during the Mugabe Regime.

The govt has made it clear that India can play Pakistan in a multilateral tournament, but no bilateral series will be permitted.

If PCB was headed by someone brilliant he would try to get BCCI to play multilateral tournament in UAE. Invite India BD SL Afg and play. Let Emirates board be the organiser and share revenues. But alas there is no AM Nur Khan or Lt Gen Butt or Zahid Khan like men anymore. Ofcourse we dont have a Dalmiya too.

But threatning India with forfeiture wont help.
