In terms of average speed, is Haris Rauf the fastest bowler from the subcontinent?

Currently he is the fastest in the subcontinent and i believe he will continue to gain pace given that he has only just started playing hardball cricket.
Pakistan has missed a trick by not picking him for the English summer, not only is he the best death bowler in the country his new ball skills as he showed in the Pakistan cup along with control over reverse swing are second to none. Discuss.
 
Both should have been there. There is no substitute of pace. I'd rather have Haris Rauf and Shaheen opening with Hasnain/Hasan the first change, over the likes of JK or the pseudo-allrounder Faheem.

Hasnain left a good impression on the Australian batsmen, and he's bowled well in PSL and the last T20I against England.
 
Depressing average speeds of the fastest bowlers in the world today.

Akhtar and Lee averaged 93MPH

Yes I think both havent bowled atleast 16-17 overs in T20s in 2019 which is minimum requirement to be considered for this list.
 
Haris Rauf showed everything a fast bowler needs, yes he isnt perfect but would have improved by playing more.

He is the only one after Hasan and Shaheen who can do something with new ball and that too at a high pace. Hasan isnt used with new ball ever so Shaheen is the only one in the squad who can move the new ball around at high pace. Amir has been rarely swinging at and his pace is down as well, Junaid is also struggling with his pace.

Haris also had reverse swing and more importantly solid yorkers in his armoury but what can we expect from team management and selection committee who havent tried any specialist spinner in LOIs outside Shadab and Yasir in last 2,3 years which is the least number of specialist spinners tried by any subcontinental team in that duration. Now we are left just with Yasir and that too against England who dont well spin as well as pacers.

Akhtar had he got to play t20 cricket in his prime would have clocked over 100 mph multiple times.
 
Truth is Haris Rauf could bowl quicker consistently than Hasnain and was also more polished in the sense that he could prodigiously swing the new ball and bowl lethal yorkers in the death. The team management selected hasnain purely because of his age, but rauf would have had more output in his career so far had we gone with him instead.
 
Wahab Riaz was bowling consistently faster than Rauf and Hasnain in the PSL. Rauf started off okay in that tournament but struggled to make as much impact afterwards, maybe suffered from playing for a weaker team. I like his action better than Hasnain, even though he wasn't bowling as quick during the PSL.
 
Wasn't Naseem Shah clocked higher than both Hasnain and Rauf?

Still, overall, our fastest pacers are quite slower than the fastest overall today. And fastest overall is much slower than fastest of the early 2000s.

Need someone who can consistently bowl around 150KPH!

Many actions looks suspect in their full flow, Bumrah is a prime example however if you see in slow mo they are fine and that is why never called.

Yes you are right but he didnt play any T20 cricket or cricket as a whole in recent times so he couldnt be considered in the above list which requires around 17 overs atleast to be bowled in T20s in 2019.
 
interesting to see Tymal Mills average speed, was once talked up as the next big thing to hit the 100mph mark, sadly injuries succumbed him to a mercenary career.

Yep, understandably he won't be counted in this list.

Hasnain, Rauf seem to have similar speed to Wahab. Yet to see if their control and skills are similar to Wahab's or any better.

Yes but what I have noticed is Rauf gets natural outswing with the new ball at pace which is already more than most of the bowlers we have produced in recent times who generally cant do anything with the new ball what so ever with the exception of Shaheen and Hasan (Who never gets the new ball).

Rauf and Hasnain have the best chance to add further pace to their bowling and i am sure they will.
One is a teenager fresh out of age group cricket while the other has only really played with a tape bowl previously.

I doubt, not much difference in their official age, therefore age shouldn’t be much of an issue here.

My hunch is it’s because of typical PAK hype of the fastest ball rather than looking at both pacers and their skills - Ul Haq doesn’t have much time to watch 4 overs in 3 spells, it’s definitely easier to back the call of selecting Hasnain for his peak speed & sweet age. Otherwise, many here had written several times regarding the bowling skills and purpose of Rauf in PAK squad.

More so, considering that WC will be played on high scoring English tracks in early summer, Hasnain with his skill set & experience should have been much lower in
picking order. Add to that right armer Rauf’s ability to move the new ball away from right handers, if they were to pick one inexperience pacer ...... only reason to choose Hasnain over Rauf is that he impressed PCB’s CS in the little time that the CS watched PSL.
 
As a cricket fan, your Bhaijaan has always been excited about young Pakistani pace talent coming through. Will be keeping an eye on these new lads for sure. Good luck to all my brothers in Pakistan.

In FC of Pakistan Cricket Naseem Shah seems the fastest in terms of Average speed while Haris Rauf is at number 2.


Than it’s Musa, Ahmed Jamal and Salman Irshad and Dhani from Sindh.




Haris Rauf has made a huge blunder by choosing PDP of LQ and T10 for Qalanadars. Aqib Javed has detrimental role in this.



Haris had match figures of 5/131 in his Last FC match. In the same match Mohammad Musa had match figures of 1/131. Haris outbowled Sadaf, Amad Butt, Taj Wali, Khurram Shehzad and Mohammad Musa in that match.



If Haris played ful Fc season than it would have done a world of good to his match fitness and he could well play Tests and Odis for Pakistan next season.




Not intelligent stuff from Haris Rauf. Very sad and disappointing. LQ gave him breakthrough but that shouldn’t make him slave of LQ.
 
No he's not.

And he needs to prove his fitness in the FC circuit before he can be considered for anything international.

Just played one FC game this season and now going to a T10 league. Whether it's greed, pressure or chickening out from first class, it's a terrible decision.

Mohammad Hasnain is pretty fast too in terms of average speed. I agree regarding Haris Rauf going away from FC cricket as it doesnt send a good message to the selectors

By the way who is Dhani?
 
You can't judge this off t20 cricket. He would never be able to keep his pace up like that in red ball cricket.
 
Pak producing exciting bowlers again after a decade of slowdown, gotta give credit where it is due.

Yes currently I would say Hasnain is faster than Musa in average speed aswell as top speed (irrespective of last T20I where Hasnain wasn’t in rhythym.

I am also tired of "acha bacha league", bit of aggression, flare and looking eye to eye doesnt hurt anybody as far as its within the spirit of the game rather it adds much more to the sport. Yes you dont want it to be WWE but still bit of entertainment and theatrics never hurt anybody. Everybody loved Wahab's spell against Watson in WC 2015 and it was magnified with reactions of both Wahab and Watson.

It doesnt matter what people say about Hassan Ali, Cottrell, Imran Tahir etc celebrations it definitely adds something to the game. Yes good contest with between bat and ball should be the utmost priority but topping of bit of on field mini battles, expressive characters and personalities is good for the game in my opinion as far as its within the spirit of the game.

Where's Ishant "I want to bowl at 100MPH" Sharma?
 
Fast bowlers are always handful in white ball cricket provided that they have control and bit of variation(quality slower bowl ball, yorker, and bouncer)

Naseem, Hasnain and Haris are 145 kph+ bowler. Good for Pakistan
 
Want to see 95 mph bowlers , wahab used to bowl 150 kph. There is no one bowling even close to akhtar , lee and shaun tait.
 
Haris is 145+, but the important thing is his ability to nail Yorkers at the death.

Ferguson and Archer are the only out and out pace bowlers nowadays. Hasnain to join them once he starts playing regularly.
 
A good example of " speed is not everything ", no wonder Harris has not been successful even at domestic FC level so far. He is far from international call up.
 
The numpties at the PCB cant see the potential in this guy.
He is a limited overs gun.

He only picked up the hard ball 2 years ago and it’s his first FC season, relax. No one’s saying he’s going to set the international scene on fire, but there’s absolutely no doubt that he’s miles better than Irfan and Musa.

Haris Rauf: The BBL 09 was a special experience for me as I had already been to Sydney before as part of the Lahore Qalandars’ Player Development Program so I had a pretty good idea of what to expect, and how to bowl on those pitches. I knew that the players there were good at playing cut and pull shots, so I bowled wicket to wicket and that was a major reason for my success there. Obviously, speed plays a huge role in every fast-bowlers armoury and our coach Aaqib Javed has worked very hard on that aspect with me. To me, the number that counts for any fast-bowler is the average pace that one can bowl at, and currently my average ranges between 143-146KpH. However, since I have a few months at my disposal due to no cricket being played, I intend to work hard and improve my average pace and aim to regularly hit speeds of around 155 KpH in the future.

Haris Rauf: We all know what a great bowler Shoaib Akhtar was and the fact that he worked so hard to generate the pace he could during his playing days. Anyone aspiring to become a bowler like him will need to do the same so I am glad that at the moment, we have a few bowlers who can hit the 140Kph+ mark such as Naseem Shah, Shaheen Shah Afridi, Musa Khan, Mohammad Hasnain and myself. With more hard work, all of us can improve further and aspire to serve Pakistan in the same way as Shoaib Akhtar did in the past.
 
He is possibly the best new ball bowler in the country
That death over specialist tag holds him back. He always strikes with the new white ball.

He needs to bowl with the new ball in T20 and not at the death, quick and on target and gets wickets up front.

Surely all these attributes qualify him to be called another Wahab riaz, even if the latter has never swung the new ball(never even bowls with the new ball) and doesnt attack with the fuller length.

Love his attitude and how he gave to nack to Babar that day.

If he can learn to bowl in the right areas he will be a force.

Indian pace attack has declined but we would not truly know untill we see them in test cricket or in an ICC tournament. I doubt our players or any players for that matter give it their all in T20 and useless bilaterals and against minnow level teams. Even Cummins has looked like a trundler in IPL

I disagree on Naseem, he is in the range of 145-148 whereas Rauf is definitely in the 145-155 breed. Hasnain is also in the same category as Rauf IMO. But tbh, the speed guns around the world have all varied.

He bowled one or two effort balls at that pace.

Jofra Archer easily the quickest bowler on display right now in the world. Lockie Furgueson nowhere to be seen these days.

I rate this Nortje guy a lot as well. Lovely run up, action and fitness. Dale Steyn category.

He must have but he is not cranking it regularly in IPL.

Alhamdulillah Mohammad Shami is the only bowler who keeps same attitude and pace in every format anywhere

Sorry just realised:

Steyn and Nortje would make the top 10 also. Most likely they will replace Cummins and Bumrah who are high 89-90 when in full flow.
 
154 kph from haris rauf in his first over.
Unlucky with the edges flying off thr bat.
He seems to have added a couple of kms of pace.
Regularly bowling 150 kph.
 
His deliveries are also the fastest to reach the boundary.
 
Haris Rauf selected for Tests to provide the speed option.
 
In terms of average speed, is the fella the fastest in the world ? I’ve not seen a breakdown of his numbers in a while but as we saw in the World Cup, he was very quick
