What's new

India [162/3] beat New Zealand [158/8] by 7 wickets in 2nd T20I to level series 1-1

Thats the problem with this pair in T20s. They play out too many dot deliveries in the PP.

India's middle order issue is there in T20 as well since India never really had any plan or anything when they pick T20 squad. Random players getting the rotation. Rohit and Dhawan should skip as well. But loss of their place in the Test side will force them to cling on to theirspot.

Yep, poor planning by Kohli & Shastri. As I said earlier as well, I'm sick of seeing this 2 walk out to bat in all LoIs we play.

Kiwis need couple wickets here or India will cruise through comfortably.

Rohit still compensates somewhat for his tuk tuk with big hits every now and then, something Dhawan hardly ever does which is proved by his poor record in this format.

You are not alone. I am extremely sick of these guys playing all games. Just take rest for heavensake.

I'm still unable to understand that what value does KKD adds to any of our teams!

Yeah, Dhawan especially has been so bloody poor since long. With an already pathetic middle order, these are not good signs for our WC chances.

He is there for 20 ball stay. His attention issues never allowed him to go on to have a decent career. If he doesn't have time he is good. If he has time he flunks. Be it is a catch or batting. If the catch is in the air long time he will drop. if he has very little time to react he holds on to it.

Rohit hits another maximum. See as I said Rohit still compensates somewhat because of his six hitting ability but Dhawan doesn't even have that.

Rohit now becomes the highest run-getter in T20Is.

Who will get the nod, Sodhi or Santner. Sodhi looks like a risky option as he is bowling a lot of half trackers.

Yeah, he does seem to have attention span issues. Pity really. I remember him doing so well in our '07 Eng tour. And then THAT catch in T20 WC'07 in SA game!

Yup. He is definitely not the best T20 opener that India has. But by default he is playing all. I think they are using this T20 to give practice to Dhawan. Still what is the point.

And he has still managed to play close to 50 T20 games for India.

KL Rahul gone off the boil very quickly. even in the IPL guys like Rayudu, Pant were the star openers not Dhawan.
We could've easily tried out Mayank. See what rich dividends did that move pay in test series against Australia.

And Rohit goes in his bid to compensate for Dhawan's tuk tuk at the other end.

And Dhawan gone.

Poor and potentially match losing innings comes to an end.

Dhawan looked like he was just out there for net practice. Strange innings.
He has always been a poor T20 player and his record suggests that as well.

Only Indian team think tank is too blind to see that.

Pant looks a different player since he started playing tests. He is protecting his wicket for no reason. This is not the pant we saw in the IPL.

Id love to see Pant cut loose here and break the shackles. Even though its against NZ.

Super Talent.

Good observation! That's what happens when you introduce players to Tests First! Let's hope that he becomes a stronger prospect in future playing all formats equally well unlike Dhoni who never made impression in Tests!

If he can't even clear Eden Park boundary then he has no hope.

That's why Aussie Guest Captain was so eager to sledge him! He knew that this guy would be a bigger threat if he plays all formats (and in WC)

This mitchell guy got away with massacre in that over.. still went for 15 or 16. Should have gone for a lot more

So we'll probably register our first win in NZ in T20s!

Don't ask dhoni to retire, there is no one to retire him lol one of the banners:virat

7.2 million watching on Hotstar right now. This is IPL level viewership!

Pant is such a powerful hitter. But his timing is missed here. He hit a 123 meter six in the test match in Australia.

Pant badly needed this kinda innings in T20 cricket.

So it is about gifting 1 consolation win of big margin to the opposition in a series! India perhaps gifted CT to Pakistan also in the same way! Actually this has something to do with some misplanning in the team rather than poor play on the given day!

As highly rated as pant is it's hard to believe how ungainly he looks.

Ironically he looks good in tests lol He is losing his balance every time he tries a shot. But that was a nice drive from him 40(28) doesn't tell the whole story. He wasn't timing well mostly

Aman was probably at the game.

Judging by the amount of Indians there , I think it's safe to assume that anyone in NZ with even so much as a remote link to India was present in the stadium.
It was 99% brown with a few token white people here and there.
Does Auckland really have that much of us?

India got lucky with the Mitchell decision. Otherwise they would've been chasing 230.

Ahh yes there is quite a few especially in Auckland. Even down in the less multi cultural south island there is a significant Indian population.

Went to the game, it was pretty fun even though we lost.

Got to see Dhoni play live for the first time and Rohit played a great knock, so I'm good.

Crowd went wild when Dhoni came out to bat, it's a shame he couldn't finish it with six. Everyone was expecting him to finish it with 6.

Yeah watched it on tv. The atmosphere looked electric when Dhoni arrived.

You could've held a placard so that the PPers could identify.

It was good throughout, was something else when Dhoni came out to bat. The fans love him.

Most of the fans in the crowd from what I saw cheered for both teams. Kane got a pretty good reception when he was announced and came out to bat.

The fans definitely pumped up the Indian girls up for the match earlier in the day too. Brought them back into the game when it looked like NZ was going to win easy.
