India [201/6] defeat Sri Lanka [123] by 78 runs to win 3rd T20I; Win series 2-0

20 overs less commercial slot time. 50 overs more. They conduct these pointless series from time to time for that. I understand the bilateral series that has all 3 formats. But this exclusive ODI, exclusive T20 series are there for a reason.

I see people think India owns cricket now and they can make their team win if they want to lmao. That is far from the truth I saw that indian comedians documentary on India making cricket a money machine. India doesn’t care about if India win or not I mean BCCI it’s all about these rights and stuff anything that will make them more money. I heard IPL makes the most money in the world of sport idk if it’s true or not it could be though.

One dayers have always been the biggest cash cows for BCCI. They will continue having these ODI series.

Iam sick and tired of watching home bilaterals against Bangladesh, West Indies,Srilanka and given them thrashing but when it comes to tournaments we get p**ped.

I don't want India to play SL for the next 10 years. I don't disrespect them. Just that it is way too many.

Time to acquire a more productive hobby then?

Um in t20s Saini definitely since Bumrah is irreplaceable reason is I know you will say batting won’t count but it reallg does especially in t20s he showed how much it counts it’s pure gold to have a bowler like that who can come smash 20 off of 8 all the time it’s not his first time he’s consistent as well. Plus he’s getting wickets he has variations perfect for t20s and you already have two proper fast bowlers you don’t need a Saini. Thakur is the perfect option kohli always wants guys who can bat as well in t20 it matters a lot he has a big chance to make it. Plus he isn’t a trundler he bowls 140

I must admit he is a much improved bowler now. I wouldn't focus too much on his batting though, it is One thing to hit a few when no one is expecting anything of you and totally different ball game to do the same when both pressure and expectations are high but good to see him trying his best and making the most of his chances.

The thing is, in order to be a regular he needs to make the team purely on bowling merit which he doesn't at the moment. He is a damn good reserve and will walk into teams like BD and SL.

Kohli may experiment here and there but I don't think he will drop Saini for Shardul in matches that matter.

Bro you’re insulting the dude by saying he would walk into bd or sl. He’s walked into the indian team. There was pressure against West Indies and he delivered. Saini is a better bowler than him but Saini gives the same thing as Bumrah or a shami you definitely don’t need three thakur provided a great balance between the two pacers.

Let's agree to disagree then I suppose.

Pakistan performs better in icc events especially t20 World Cup as well 2007 final 2009 winners 2010 semi final utter disgrace to choke and not make the finals than we made the semis again in 2012 I think as well that’s 4/6 successful performances. India was champions than they choked for three straight t20 world cups than they made the semis once I think and the final once so opposite trend of Pakistan you can sort of. Plus we will have a better bowling attack by than and the batting is quite decent atleast we can make the semis 7/10 chance.

You missed the point entirely. Pak was an absolute gun t20 team from 2007-2013. Afridi, Gul, Ajmal were genuine match winners. But just cuz you did well back then doesn't mean you have the same chances this time. Your current team lacks impact players, bar Babar no match winner or big hitters either. I don't think your bowling will be formidable within a span of a few months, I Will be surprised if you reach semis this time.

Dominant India storm past Sri Lanka to seal the series
Openers Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul scored fifties in India's solid first-innings total of 201/6, before the bowlers put on another impressive show to complete a thumping 78-run win in the third T20I against Sri Lanka in Pune on Friday, 10 January.

Shikhar Dhawan reiterated his case in India's T20I setup, registering his first fifty in the format in 14 months – his 10th overall – to combine with KL Rahul for a steady 97-run opening stand after the hosts were put in to bat. That, however, was punctuated with a slice of good fortune early on, with Dhawan being given a reprieve by Dasun Shanaka, who dropped one at deep square leg when the left-hander was on 1.

His 36-ball stay included seven hits to the fence and one over it, with Rahul (52) providing great support hitting two fours lesser. Lakshan Sandakan, the left-arm wrist-spinner struck in his second over to dismiss Dhawan. Sanju Samson, playing his first international game since July 2015, walked in at No. 3 and sent his first ball soaring over long off for a six. He couldn't carry on much longer however, as Wanindu Hasranga dismissed him in the next ball he faced. Sandakan then removed Rahul and Shreyas Iyer in quick succession to reduce India from 97/0 to 122/4 in a space of two overs.

Skipper Virat Kohli walked in at the four-down position, and scored a steady 26 but an error in judgement resulted in him being run-out. Manish Pandey (31*) and Shardul Thakur (22*) unleashed some lusty blows in the final two overs, wherein they scored 34 to power India to 201/6 at the end of the 20th over.

Sri Lanka had a terrible start to the chase, losing openers Danushka Gunathalika (1) and Avishka Fernando (9) within the first two overs. A terrible mixup resulted in Oshada Fernando's run out while Kusal Perera was castled by a searing Navdeep Saini yorker to leave the visitors reeling at 26/4 in the sixth over. A quick 68-run stand between Angelo Matthews and Dhananjaya de Silva revived some hope, but that ended after the former mistimed one towards long on off Washington Sundar on 31, to give India the opening.

Sri Lanka collapsed from 94/4 to 123 all-out, with Dhananjaya de Silva waging the lone battle with a 36-ball 57. Navdeep Saini picked up three wickets while Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur bagged two apiece. India took the series 2-0 with back to back wins, after the series opener in Guwahati was abandoned without a ball being bowled.

Yeah ur sort of right but I think they’ll turn up this time around

I like how India are selecting consistent squads with a few changes. They know roughly what the squad will be and are preparing reserves incase of injury.

India will be very difficult to beat at the World T20.

I can't stand shardul lol. Something about irks me. I find him to be lazy. He gives me that vibe. Plus he lacks pace for odi. trundles at 130-135.

Please don't overrate our selections, we invested in the Rayadu, Karthik, Jadhav for world cup despite having exciting young prospects available. Despite being a top team for years we are still scared of experimenting and blooding in youngsters. Thing that we should get credit for is how we are managing the workload our fast bowlers.

He is doing pretty decent though since his comeback especially with the bat lol.

Clinical performance. Though Chahal has been pretty mediocre in T20s in last one year or so with avg of 40+ and economy of more than 9 in 10 matches

he is doing annoyingly well. Let's see what he does vs australia. if he passes that test then maybe he could come in at number 8 as a bowling all rounder.

He is a nice reserve to have. Bumrah, Shami and Saini should be our first choice against top teams IMO.

Sri Lanka skipper Lasith Malinga has blamed himself for their drubbing in the T20 Internationals against India but admitted that leading an inexperienced side is affecting his performance.

The veteran pacer said lack of early wickets and partnerships were the main reasons behind their meek surrender.

Sri Lanka lost the third match by 78 runs to concede the series 0-2. The opener in Guwahati was washed out.

“We lost 2-0. I have to perform well, because I have experience playing T20 cricket, but I didn’t get a single wicket in this tournament, that is why we are in this situation, 65-70 per cent (of the times),” said the 36-year-old Malinga, who returned figures of 0/40 and 0/41 in Pune and Indore, respectively.

“I am the most experienced player in the team in T20s. Yes, I have the pressure to get wickets because I am a wicket-taking bowler, but I feel if we want to win the match we have to get one-two wickets early in first six overs, we didn’t get that in this tournament,” he rued.

Malinga, who played 82 T20s, stressed that partnerships are an important aspect in T20 cricket, which his team failed to form.

“The top order is important and Indian top order got good partnerships. Partnership is important in T20 game. Because people (players) are thinking it is 20 overs, like we have to hit every single ball.

He said that his players needed to learn the art of building an innings.

“They can bat and they can hit shots. But they’ve to learn to build an innings. That we are lacking. Last one and half/two years, we didn’t have that luxury.

“Previously, we had Sanga (Kumara Sangakkara), Mahela (Jayawardane) and Dilshan – they knew how to build an innings. The young players are talented, they want to play their shots, but sometimes they have to be calm and handle the situation. That part is lacking,” added the Sri Lankan skipper.

Malinga, who himself had a torrid time with the ball, identified it as one of the reasons for the reverses.

“Going forward, I am looking forward to get my job done. I can’t give excuse to others (on non performance) as I have wicket taking variations, skills.

“I have experience of playing franchise cricket but, at the end of the day, in this tournament, I did not do anything for the team.” Admitting that the pressure of captaincy affects his performance, Malinga said in 2014, it was not the case as there were experienced players.

“Captaincy means, when we have experienced players who can handle situations, it is very easy to do the job. But now I don’t have that luxury.

“When I was captain in 2014, I had Mahela, Sanga, Angelo (Mathews), Dilshan, we had lots of experienced players who were match-winners, they knew what they needed to do. “Now, players are not experienced and I have to guide them and I have to wait and see,” he said.

Malinga also said that India have good T20 players and playing in the IPL helped them.

“Their players are doing well and have experience of playing the IPL also. They have good T20 players and have played in these conditions so many times in their career. “Our players did not get that much of an opportunity, but we have to give maximum opportunity for them,” he said.

Don't see India going outside of this pool of players they have consistently selected. Maybe Bhuvi and MSD have a chance. Other than that I would be surprised if they went away too much from the players they have selected in the last few T20 series.

One of one sided match ive ever seen in a long time. All these hypes are total dud. My brain exploded trying to understand these Srilankan players.

They are maverick players. Once in a while everything just comes together for them and pulls off a miracle. Not a consistent team.
