What's new

India [416 & 168/4d] beat West Indies [117 & 210] by 257 runs in the 2nd Test, win series 2-0

Now that Vihari has performed well it will be tough for Hardik Pandya to come back into the playing XI. :inti

We don't need his bowling, if he can do his primary role well. Finally we've quite a few good bowling options, so don't think we'll be needing his bowling at least in tests.

It is not me but what Kohli has said after the first test

You think too straight. There are tons of reasons that can be unearthed if the powers that be decide to play Pandya in place of Vihari. For that matter they will even get Rohit in the test squad for his ODI exploits at the slightest of opportunities cutting off Vihari and Agarwal. Vihari and Agarwal needs to keep on scoring runs to retain their spot. That benchmark do not belong to others as they anyways do not add anything to the glam quotient , neither attends talk shows to share their earthly wisdom for the intelligent fanbase which is always a bigger qualifying criteria considered by our ever wise captain Kohli, guardian angel coach Sastry and extremely adept selection committee. Last but not the least , they are also not as young as Pant , as such not eligible for extended opportunities.

Vihari and Agarwal can be cut off from Test 11 at the first failure in near future and justifiably so as they lack the potential of would be superstar Pant, X factor of IPL superstars KL Rahul and Pandya, and legendary ODI player Rohit. Also another botch in their CV is that neither of them have any connection to Bunty Sajdeh or play for Mumbai Ranji team or CSK IPL team. That is also the reason why Gill should continue to play A game till he finds the right channel.

So folks - can WI do an England here?

Looks like there will be some more resistance from WI this time - lets see

I wouldnt bet on it.Expecting them to lose wickets in a flurry soon. What wouldn't i do to see a Stokes-eque innings from one of them though.

POTW for me. :inti

West Indies cricket Darren Bravo has retired hurt during the fourth day of the second Test match between West Indies and India at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica on Monday.

The 30-year-old had to walk off the pitch after hitting Jasprit Bumrah to the cover for a boundary.

On Sunday, Bravo was hit on the head with a wicked bouncer by Bumrah. The ball had took a surprising bouncer and shattered his helmet stem guards.

The medics rushed in and after a thorough checkup, he was allowed to play on again. He faced only ten balls on Monday before going off.

Bravo will now be undergoing a medical examination, including tests for a possible concussion.

According to the Windies media manager, Bravo did undergo a concussion test at the end of the third day's play and passed it before play began today.

12th man Jermaine Blackwood was named in as Bravo's replacement for the rest of the series.

Who is the idiot Indian commentator crying about the front foot no ball rule not being ruled from the point of release?

West Indies are putting up a fight finally. Good to see.

Target is a bit too high though.

Ok so I was just reading Cricbuzz commentary and kohli was animated and bumrah as well after the fifth wicket and I hear it was regarding someone complaining about bumrahs action so does anyone know what’s going on and let me know

5th wicket down.

West Indies batsmen forgot how to play long innings. Effect of T20?

West Indies collapsed completely (yet again).

A complete disaster of a home series for them.

So we got our 120 points
We are on the top of the table in World Test Championship and will continue there till the end of the league stage

Other teams can compete for the 2nd spot

India are a very strong test team. They still have Pandya , Shaw,Kuldeep ,and Ashwin as back up players.

I think India will be in the test championship final. It's just about who will be with them.

What a job Kohli has done as captain in tests.

What a disappointment from West Indies. Their batting was blown away.

India claimed the eight wickets required for victory without much fuss to complete a 2-0 series win over West Indies.

They also earned another 60 World Test Championship points to go top of the table.

West Indies began the fourth day requiring an unlikely 413 runs to win with eight wickets in hand, but with some showers forecast they might have hoped to worry the tourists, and did well to extend from 45/2 overnight to 159/4 after the day’s first interval.

That included a six-ball spell in which the hosts lost two wickets, with Roston Chase pinned lbw by Ravindra Jadeja and Shimron Hetmyer driving Ishant Sharma straight to extra cover, while they also had to recover from the loss of Darren Bravo, who was struck on the head while batting the previous evening and felt ill effects while batting even after the overnight rest.

He was replaced by Jermaine Blackwood under the newly implemented concussion substitute rule, making this the first time 12 players had batted in a team innings in Test cricket. Blackwood quickly got into his task, and he and Sharmarh Brooks put on West Indies’ only fifty stand of the series.

Jasprit Bumrah broke the partnership, nicking Blackwood off, but Brooks carried onto his maiden Test half-century before being run out by Virat Kohli’s swift turn and throw. His knock would remain West Indies only fifty of the series, with the hosts collapsing from 177/5 to 210 all out. Jason Holder struck some lusty blows in his 35-ball 39 before he became the last wicket to fall, bowled by Jadeja.

The victory took Kohli’s tally of wins as captain to 28, more than any other Indian Test skipper. For his century and half-century, Hanuma Vihari was named Player of the Match.
