Shastri was one of the worst commentators of his time so no surprise there, kohli's comments were actually smart, he never named names just credited ranji for Indian Pacers performance on this pitch.

That was the beauty of it, they named no names or made any comments about anyone just credited India's win to ranji set up.

Kohli has a responsibility towards Indian domestic cricket.

Also Keefe was making fun of Pujara's name at some point which is quite low imo.

Kohli is praising vihari for his performance in wearing the quicks down and not losing early wickets. It means he will play next test

It will be criminal to drop a pacer. These 3 have bowled very well together.

That did allow Indian middle order to avoid new ball where Aus has been most effective. Openers set it up for Indians.

Left field decision. Drop vihari and play Parthiv Patel. He is a far better player than both vihari and Sharma as an opener
 
Vihari is going to get lots of short ball. He has weakness.

Exactly. Aus bowling is far better with the new ball and india with the old ball.

To negate that threat openers should survive atleast first spell of their quicks

I would keep Jadeja.

Ashwin tends to go overboard with variations on pitches which are supposed to be spin-friendly but are not, rather than being accurate.

Jadeja is going nowhere. Came in and had match figures of 57-14-127-5. Bowled 57 of the 157 overs we bowled, that’s nearly 40% of total bowling load.

With his dodgy fitness, he can go kaput any moment. Huge risk in a 4 man attack.

Younis Khan is an atg and in the same league as Tendulkar and Lara etc according to him. That tells you all.

If I recall it right then he has played few times without being fully fit and Indians paid the price. Jadeja bowling so many overs allowed pacers to rotate. If Ashwin has any doubt over fitness then he shouldn't play in 4 bowlers attack.

If I have to guess then Indians will go with the same playing XI. I still think Vihari will find it hard to survive because he doesn't know how to handle short ball. One easy wicket for Aus but then other openers were easy wicket as well. He at least tried to put a price on his wicket.

India already payed the price by playing "fit" ashwin. We should not take chance at all when he is unfit

Indeed ! but there is no shortage to the gems he comes up with on a regular basisdue to his green tinted glasses. eg: Amla > Kohli :))

Great win for India.They are deservingly ranked no 1 in Tests right now.Hopefully this Indian team would up as GOAT Indian Test team.
 
I would play Ashwin in SCG in place of Rohit and make him open, let Vihari take back the number 6 slot. We need 5 bowlers because fatigue seems to have set in the bowling unit, and we can't further weaken our batting (so no Kuldeep). I trust Ashwin to do minimum what Vihari/Rahul/Vijay did as openers and even if he isn't 100% fit he can bowl 12 effective overs per day to give rest to the tired quicks. And when Ashwin-Jadeja bowl in tandem, they complement each other well and become more potent.

India deserved the win. If they score the runs in the next game , I'll back them to win that game too.

Our fans have no right to downplay this achivemeant from India. We would still loose to this Australian team and we also lost to a South African team who was weaker than the 1 that played India earlier in the year. So just shows it isn't easy to win team without key players as you guys make out. :)
 
Now the thing for Indian team will be to ensure that is 3-1 or at least 2-1. It will be historic opportunity missed if they end up at 2-2 in Sydney

It is perhaps the most glorifying and prestigious matter for any Asian side to win a test series in Australia or South Africa. Just go all out for it in next test.

If India goes defensive in Sydney they will pay a big price. But I hope this word isn't in the dictionary of kohli
