India are not the favourites to win the 2019 World Cup

Once called as the best Chasing side in the world has lost its ability to chase in the crucial decider matches! CT 2017 Final and today’s match are the prime examples. Our Openers are slow starters and they are not reliable anymore. Kohli’s chasing abilities during decider games have reduced too! The less we talk about the Middle order the better it is! Dhoni on his last legs is not a finisher anymore. India can’t win the World Cup with their bowlers alone and they are definitely not the favorites. This team lacks discipline, passion and hunger to win games. This bunch has no clue on how to strategize a chase and approach a set target. And an arrogant clueless Captain like is not going to win big tournaments either!
 
I have been saying this for almost 1 year now. England are hands on fav to win this WC.

The likes of India, WI, Aus and NZ all have equal chance if England chokes.

Pak is the dark horse.
 
3 matches after comprehensive series wins in SA, NZ, and Australia is enough for you to say that?

Rohit averaged 70 last year (he averages 60 as an opener overall) and Dhawan scored a century just a match ago. How are they not reliable?
 
India need to infuse fresh blood after the WC - Shaw, Gill, Agarwal, Pant should form the top order along with Kohli, Rohit and Rahul.

How many matches did Rohit and Dhawan help India win in the Tournament finals/Decider games in recent times?

You were against his selection even in test matches. So please.
I may have gone overboard in criticising dhoni but according to me pant is receiving undue criticism, many players fail in 10-20 matches (yuvraj, rohit etc etc) but other players were never criticised so harshly, the only reason abuses are hurled at pant is that he has got the talent to replace dhini and this drives thala fans insane.
 
Dhoni and Pandya will make it a much better team. But the most important question remains. Who the heck is the No.4 batsman? India and Eng are still the favs but not so much as they were a month ago. But they are still better than others. India needs to sort no.4

What? Dravid, Yuvraj, Sehwag, Rohit all of them have gone through criticism initially in their respective careers. Dravid was dropped from ODI team, Yuvraj was dropped from test team. If you think Pant is a bigger player than these guys then you are just delusional.
 
England is favorite on paper. But you can't bet on them as well given their history. Nobody is favorite in my view. But in terms of mental strength Australia sits at the top. They have this resilience. Look at Pat cummins. He was bowling at 148.3 kph in 47th over.
 
England are the favourites imo. I don’t think India will win the World Cup. I think they have issues with their middle order and they won’t be addressed before the tournament starts. Also India in recent times have choked. I would put Australia slightly ahead of India after their series win. That was some effort.

Yes that honor will be reserved for the mighty Bangladesh who will reach the semis, thrash Australia and then thump England in the final to win the World Cup.

Dismiss Indian top 3 and win the match. Its as simple as that. Kuldeep and Chahal have already lost their novelty factor and u can pretty much expect them to get tonked pretty much in every match from here on, especially on flat decks.

Only decent bowler India currently has is bumrah. But his effectiveness will be mitigated with the all the deadwoods that's currently present in Indian team.

I didn't say that anything like that would happen. But u shouldn't be surprised if Bangladesh move one step further from what they have achieved in previous wc. At least their appearance in CT semi and asia Cup final indicates that something special is waiting for us in this wc.

On paper BD teams looks strongest from what we have seen in the past but bowling is really bad.

1. Tamim
2. Soumya
3. Shakib
4. Mushfiq
5. Mithun
6. Mahmudullah
7. Sabbir
8. Saifuddin or specialist pacer
9. Mashrafe
10. Rubel
11. Mustafiz
 
India will win the upcoming world cup. Stop over-reacting guys us because they have been trying a few new players e.g. Pant and other bowlers out does not mean they are not favourites no more. They have all the basis covered kohlI and bumrah will win it for them with others chipping in. INDIA always turn up for major events.
 
Please don't mention Bangladesh here, they are weaker than Afghanistan. Not even a single world class bowler
 
Pakistan has already shown they can beat India in pressure situations in world events and the Champions trophy final was probably the biggest match they played in their history being the final of a World event. I dont believe the historical head to head record in world cup will have any bearing on the result of the upcoming world cup match as Pakistan sort of has crossed that mental barrier.

Also, if Pakistan and India are to qualify to the next round they are sure to meet again in Super sixes which has not happened in a world cup before. The conditions will also favor Pakistan as our pacers like Amir and Afridi will be much more effective in the conditions. If Pakistan is having a good run and few of the players are in form we can possibly have a very interesting result.
 
Don’t know why iyer was discarded so quickly. Should have got more chances. Number 4 is still a problem and Jadeja cannot play at number 7. They should still reach Semi Finals.

semi finals you mean... it's only one group and then top 4 through to semi finals
 
This series was JAMODI series, at least for me.

Indian team will bring their A game in World Cup.

India are the team to beat this world cup and the ultimate favorites :vk
 
Dhoni is not in the WC squad because of his batting, he is in the squad because of this captaincy skills and understanding of the game/situation - something which Kohli lacks.

I totally agree with you india always step it up for the big tournaments and bring their A-game and quite frankly I don't see anyone who can stop them from winning the world cup.
 
Talk about knee jerk.

People would have been praising the Indian team if Pant didn't drop that catch in the 4th match and won the series.

England are the firm favourites, with India behind them. But this World Cup is really anyones

Inability to play bounce. He was hopeless in SA on decks where Kohli made 600 runs in 5 games. I know it's unfair to compare with Kohli but Iyer was subpar. Another FTB/HTB
 
As I said on the match thread its good to get such a rude awakening ahead of WC. However going by what Kohli commented after the match, its alarm bells.
 
India is definitely the favorite for the World Cup. The only thing that can change that is injuries to some key players during the IPL and the key players include Kohli (irreplaceable), Bumrah (Irreplacable), Dhawan (ICC Tourney beast), Sharrma (outstanding), and Yadav (X-factor).

If two or three of these people get injured then India won't be a favorite.

England remains a fair9weather fair-pitch team and Australia is always a threat in tournaments.

I'm also sure that Afghanistan will throw up a few surprises too and make it official that they are part of the big people club now.
