England could do that because there wasn't much on the pitch for the first two days. We will see today how much patience do they actually have.It wasn't just a bit of luck, he got two wickets off rank bad balls. Indian batsmen were simply not patient enough to bat time on that pitch, which was how England batted on the first two days. Anyone arguing against Indian complacency in the first test is being disingenuous.
No its because i love virat's character
Keep that on field thing aside
But he is a good person
Better than rohit atleast he us full.of ego
Even my family now adays love virat
India on top here after winning the toss here , Poms have to bowl well here to get back.
If not for Rohit's positive intent, this would have been an embarrassing morning for us ...
Perhaps an extra batsman/allrounder could have been handy here for India instead of the 5th bowler.
Rohit once again showing why he should have been the first choice opener for India in Asian conditions all this time.
India wasted 4-5 years of his Test career just because of the idea that he is not a conventional Test opener, but neither was Sehwag and we saw how that worked out.
Few better sights in cricket than Rohit in full flow. Majestic, glorious batsman.
This 80 odd so far is worth more than a 150+ on most pitches and in most situations.
Not much batting to come after this pair. Pant is a bit of lottery and rest are a bunch of jokers with the bat. I say it’s even right now.
For all his faults,Sehwag had tons in Eng,SA,Aus. Most of those in his first tours too.
Rohit still hasnt got in 7 years
Ridiculous comparison
Lets see if he can convert this into big one here.Sehwag dealt in 200s and 300s
This has been a brilliant innings by Sharma. I doubt anyone other than Sehwag could have batted with such intent on this pitch. It's the only approach that can work on pitches that turn square.

Right selection to get Kuldeep, but hard on Sundar to be dropped after scoring 85.
Pitch is hard, but not as hard as Indians are making it seem. Kohli had no business playing that shot when he was so new there. The opener did not offer a shot. Pujara normally plays those balls much better.
Pujara not staying long should help Eng here. He is the only one who plays spin well from this Indian side.

Rohit is more talented batsman the sehwag , Rohit is one of the best in the world at the moment.
Axar and Ashwin both capable with bat.
To be fair, the mind plays terrible tricks when the pitch is turning. Gill's shot was unacceptable but it's a bit harsh to criticize Pujara and Kohli.
Does this qualify as a rank turner, i am pretty sure that by day 3 this pitch will spit venom.

Pujara was acceptable, but not Kohli. Kohli already knew that the pitch is turning and he had just come. I don't think it was the right shot to play so early.
They both cannot score 10 runs between them on this track.
Rohit would have scored a few centuries outside Asia as well had India trusted him as an opener.
He should have been the first-choice opener for India since 2014-15 when he had already established himself as a world class ODI opener.
Rohit in the middle-order didn’t work in LOIs and it wasn’t working in Test cricket either but India kept on persisting with a failed method.
You cannot leave a player of his talents out, it is criminal. Apart from Vijay in his purple patch, no Indian opener of his generation has scored consistently overseas, so this whole agenda against Rohit’s credentials outside Asia did not make sense.
India missed out on a lot of massive hundreds and double-hundreds by refusing to give him a chance at the top of the order.
oh that word talent)
at 34 years thats still the word for Rohit
The best in the world has highest overseas score of 72![]()
Not a rank turner, but too much turn for the first day.
Axar can bat and he has earned his spot. They dropped Sundar for a darter that cannot bat. Great selection by Kohli once again.

Rohit is a different player when he opens and when he bats in the middle-order. India should have realized that after the way Rohit transformed after becoming an opener in white ball cricket.
He should have been trusted as Test opener since 2014-15 when he established himself as a world class ODI opener.
His overseas career would not have been any worse than Sehwag. Like Sehwag, he would fail often but would play a few glorious knocks as well, especially in places like Australia.
For all his faults,Sehwag had tons in Eng,SA,Aus. Most of those in his first tours too.

Dude are you seriously equalling opening in Tests to that in ODIs?
By your logic Finch,Roy et al would be great Test openers because they were good in ODIs
Middle order batting is easier overseas,Rohit failed even there. And he'd done well as opener?.He still cant handle swing
In ODIs opening is easier on pattas, hardly comparable.Everyone lines up to open in LOIs,how many want to open in Tests?
The kind of shots Rohit plays , Sehwag would not even play them in dreams also![]()
Calm down. Rohit has just started as an opener in tests. For a while during his ODI career as an opener, he faced a lot of heat before he shut everyone up with all those doubles.
Rohit will be the first Indian batsman among the current lot to score a triple in tests![]()
lol Sehwag was a living god. No need to pull him down to boost Rohit![]()
He's already 33-34.Better score that triple soon
ODI doubles on pattas means he would be good Test opener.Great logic
Sehwag was good , but Rohit is much bigger than him. Sehwag is a wave , Rohit is the ocean

Ye kuch zyada ho gya.....![]()
I've been very impressed by Ollie Stone, only if he can stay injury free cause this guy has hugh ability.
There will be many Sehwags , who will come and go , but India will not have a Rohit in next 100 years , a once in a generation player. You see how he dominated the bowling today , He himself can get a 150 here alone. Alone the amount of runs he will get I doubt whole England team will fail short of that.
In the next session India will hammer him to submission , Just wait Axar to come out to bat , He will make sure Stone is completely stoned![]()
He will have a better test career than Ganguly by the time he's done![]()
Anderson
Broad
Archer
Woakes
Wood
Curran
Stone
Stokes
Incredible depth...
Thankfully you weren't chief of selectors when Warner as a test opener was being discussed![]()
Every player is different. Just because it is easier for most players it doesn’t mean it is easier for everyone.
Rohit has always struggled with handling different situations when he arrives to the crease because he cannot bat with a muddled head.
He is not the type of player who can adjust from arriving to the crease at 200/2 one day and 10/2 the next day, that is his weakness.
When he opens he is in control of the situation and can look to dominate from the word go. He doesn’t have to deal with the match situation because he has the opportunity to set the tone himself.
Sehwag was similar, and that is why he was always going to have a better career as an opener as opposed to a middle-order batsman.
Calm down, 106-3 could easily be 120-5 in no time.
Ball is going through the top on the first session of the first day.
Rohit seems to be trying to get the runs now, knowing that it will get harder.
India to win. Ashwin will clean up.
What was Kohli doing, standing there after he was clean bowled? Shades of WG Grace....
Players like Sehwag and Warner worked because they had workable defense and on their day they could dominate(SR of 70+).Rohit doesnt have that
