India crowns the title for the fifth time by defeating China in the final of the Asian Champions Trophy 2024

China edge past Pakistan in Asian Hockey Champions Trophy semi-final

China defeated Pakistan 2-0 in the penalty shoot-out during the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 semi-final clash here at the Moqi Hockey Training Base on Monday.

Pakistan and China both managed one goal each in the regular time after an intense battle, however, the Green Shirts failed to score a single penalty, leading to their ouster from the tournament.

The home side scored two goals in the penalty shoot-out to secure their place in the final.

For the unversed, Pakistan lost only one game in the group stages with arch-rivals India defeating them 2-1 in the final group match.

Pakistan started the blockbuster clash on a high as they took the lead just 10 minutes into the first quarter, courtesy of a precise assist from Hannan Shahid, who fed the ball inside the circle to Nadeem.

Nadeem effortlessly smashed the ball into the net to give Pakistan a head start.

Pakistan’s lead, however, was short-lived as India earned a penalty corner.

India’s skipper Harmanpreet Singh took the penalty corner for India and successfully sent his drag-flick into the bottom-right corner, helping India equalise just a few minutes later.

The defending champions took the lead in the second quarter when Abhishek fed the ball to Harmanpreet near the circle, who similarly converted it into a goal.

The remaining two quarters of the blockbuster Asian Hockey Champions Trophy clash between arch-rivals Pakistan and India remained goalless despite both sides making ferocious attacks on each other’s goalposts.

The 2-1 victory over Pakistan, meant India won all of their group-stage fixtures and topped the standings with 15 points. Whereas, Pakistan had two victories and as many draws before their defeat against India.

Remember, Pakistan have already qualified for the semi-final of the ongoing Asian Hockey Champions Trophy 2024 after thumping China 5-1 on Thursday.

Abdul Rehman opened the scoring for Pakistan before Nadeem Ahmed and Hannan Shahid scored two goals each to secure a dominant 5-1 victory for the Green Shirts.

This is Pakistan’s second consecutive victory in the tournament as they defeated Japan 2-1 in their third game.

Repayment for CPEC loans?

It was worse watch the highlights!!
One of the shooters did a 720 degree Shaktimaan rotation to whiff completely :ROFLMAO:
I saw the highlights.it was quite pathetic and disgusting. somehow I thought its pak situation in every aspect like cricket, hockey, economy. Going no where.

And Pakistan wins the 3rd place match against Korea by 5 goals to 2.

Should have won the semi but hard luck.

We won, but not good enough. It was a below par performance throughout the tournament.
It was enough for India to have a clean tournament win with no losses. No need to exert oneself unnecessarily just to satisfy some textbook performance metric.

It has been an excellent show by India. Complete dominance of Asian Hockey by them.

Indian men's hockey team, led by captain Harmanpreet Singh, defeated hosts China 1-0 in the Asian Champions Trophy final on September 17 (Tuesday), claiming their record-extending fifth title

Ahead of today's final, India had previously defeated China 3-0 in the group stage.

Coming back to IND vs CHN Asian Champions Trophy final, neither team could find the back of the net in the first quarter, and the scoreline remained 0-0 by end of second quarter. At halftime, both teams locked in a goalless stalemate, setting stage for a dramatic second half.

With the Indian forwards unable to find the breakthrough, the defenders took charge. Harmanpreet Singh assisted Jugraj Singh, who scored a crucial field goal to break the deadlock.

India stormed into the final by defeating South Korea 4-1 in the semi-finals, while China reached the title match by prevailing in a penalty shoot-out against Pakistan. China's win over Pakistan helped them reach their first-ever Asian Champions Trophy final. India has claimed the Asian Champions Trophy title four times.

Asian Hockey is literally the third tier of world Hockey. Matches should not have been even close.
It reflects in the rankings that we gained ZERO points through these games despite winning all games.

Next stop is 2025 Asia cup, whoever wins that will get automatic qualification for World cup.

2026 asian games, whoever wins that will get automatic qualification for LA Olympics.

Apart from this you have FIH pro league for top 8 teams and FIH nations cup for next 8 (Pak will be playing this, if they win this they will be upgraded to tier 1 in next cycle and can play pro league)

Congratulations to all brothers in Pakistan on clinching Bronze medal in Asian Champion’s Trophy. Really nice. Good to see Pakistan still active in this sport. 👏🏻 I hope you can keep it up and eventually get back to being a contender in major tournaments.

I didn't really follow this tournament.

Congratulations to India for winning.

I hope Pakistan manages to regain some standing in hockey in the coming years.

I was looking at the match results and it seems like India beat other nations pretty well by huge margins but Pakistan to me looked like the only team that stretched them. I think the final score was 2-1 IIRC.

Pakistan gave us a good fight. Brought back some old memories. However you all raising the Chinese flags was bit cringe.

it is ok, I'm sure all the Bharatiye brothers will get over it. You guys always support our opposition all the time as well. Thats just how it goes.

Carrying baby flags of the team that just beat you just shows subservient mindset!
Explains the comical performance in the shootout against China.
I just recalled they are carrying the flags of team that knocked em out.
Tbf they have big hearts, they were so happy for bangladesh thumping em in the test series at home too.

As if Indians have never flown flags of teams they lost to when those teams play Pakistan. How old are you? Don tell me you have never seen this before. Both nations supporters have done that.

Which Indian player has done that? You are confusing the players with the keyboard warriors maybe?
The players represent the country..

These are national players in National Jersey not some random supporter.
You are clutching at straws.

I hope PAK cricketers follow suit and wave flags of teams playing India in future ICC KO's .

This a good trend to follow for both players and fans for their own mental and emotional well being .
They have our blessings and duas internally. Whether we do it visibly or not, we are united with them and against all our brothers in the region against the Indian menace plaguing Asia.

Arrogance gets to the best of all even. Even Ravana who was a Mahagyaani fell victim to arrogance.

Bharatiyas must realise that not everyone is supposed to live the life of the head of the table. Not everyone is a hero in their movie.

The supporting cast also exists.
The sidekicks are always there.

And there is no shame in that.

Pakistanis are living the life of Rajpal Yadav in a typical 2000s Bollywood film. Great acting with a smaller comical role.

Duas for fellow Asians is not good enough. PAK can be knocked out by anyone from Australia to Zimbabwe. Gotta pray for everyone and wave all flags going forward.

Living vicariously is the only solace left :D

These sorry bunch are pakistan players representing their country ,no wonder they are at bottom. It's one thing supporting other teams against ur arch rivals, alteast have decency to remove your Team uniform and support in regular clothes. No matter what u must have pride in wearing that hockey uniform which represents ur country.

Sorry but there is nothing more cringe than the flocks of Indians who wore full India kit to the T20 world cup final in Australia a few years ago when Pakistan was playing.

They came to "support cricket".

They probably bought tickets for the final thinking India will make the final. Or they were Australians of Indian origin.

Even if they bought tickets it wasn't mandatory to wear these clothes when two other countries are playing.

Or when your cricketers call it "karma" when England defeated us in the final.

Now THAT is the definition of living vicariously.

Pak cheering for China is just what friends do.

Unfortunately due to Indian isolation in the region they don't understand this concept.

But we dont have the need to win vicariously as much as Pakistanis do . We have won 2 World Cups and 2 Tests series in Australia in the last 15 years.

Lack of awareness, pride and education. Hope the next crop of pak hockey players are better.
A couple of players slipped to Europe seeking asylum during the tournament there, it’s more than awareness something is up with Pakistani economy of middle man overall.

Were they National Indian players in official Indian jerseys ?? :ROFLMAO:
Huge difference between random supporter and official players who had lost to China and then completely lose all national pride by having little flags along with Chinese school kids.

There is a huge difference between a bunch of fans wearing their country's kit in some other game, and a bunch of players representing their country, wearing its official uniform, and cheering for some other country.

Some people can't see the difference. Never mind.

And as for your never-ending 'India Isolated' mantra, let me ask. How can India be isolated when it is living rent free in the mind of Bangladeshis and Pakistanis who can't seem to stop pouring vitriol on India and Indians on social media 24/7/365?

Or maybe people don't know the meaning of 'isolated', either.

Sports and politics should be seperated as preached by many on this forum are now silent here

China v/s India in Chess Olympiad, battle of the giants, would be funny if we see Pakistani players walk up with Chinese flags here too :p
I was thinking exactly the same.any how pak is 114 position out of 189 .so they can walk and support China with out any embarassment of China spanking them in semis .

Just like India supported opposition against Pakistan, this is sports Brother. It is natural.
