All in all this NZ side is not as bad as people are making them out to be.They just need 3-4 good bankable players young enough to build a strong core group so that they can again start beating sides regularly.Just need to pick players on merit.Some of their senior guys must also stand up(Taylor, Watling). Atm there seems to be tremendous pressure on Kane and imo he can't keep carrying on like this.

Kane Williamson isn't an all time great with all time great numbers (he's just got his average up to 50).

Even then, he's still way more proven than Ashwin with 100's in India and England.

There is a 5 test series in 2018. Will b interesting to see how he goes there. Will want the batting to step up though to apply pressure from the spinners. Tough to get 5fers when our batsmen fall like a pack of cards.

lol 'just 50'. there are some ATG Batsman who average is quite similar to Kane. like ponting, gavaskar(51 is not much higher than just 50). so, going by your logic of styen/Waqar vs ashwin. ponting/gavaskar vs Williamson also seems valid. ain't it?
there are some very good players who average less than Kane like Cook and G. Smith. Kane is in now way better than cook or Smith because he has inflated his stats by playing on highways.
mate if you can criticize ashwin on same logic why can't you do that for Williamson? hypocrisy?
