I think given the performance they showed up today its fair to say they have proved that they are the best all-round team currently in the world.

After winning the 11 WC and 13 CT(in England) they again look to be a strong contender for CT 17.

Australia did won in 15 WC which was at home but their performance in big tournaments of late hasn't been great away from Australia.

England are doing well but these are home conditions. Its to be seen how they perform outside England.

South Africa choke wherever they play while Kiwis are good only at home. Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka are well behind.

With the kind of performance India have been showing in big tournaments, its fair to say we are the best team overall in world as far as odis are concerned.

India is a strong contender for the trophy but I have a feeling England probably will take this.

They bat frighteningly deep and the conditions are suited to them.

The only ones who can stop them are England.

England has better depth. Also they are more aggressive than India with bat. Sure Yuvi, Dhoni at their best are far more destructive. But they are not even at their 20% of best these days.

England will choke against them

Number 1 teams are consistent but we are not. Still a long way to go. Also I don't like how people change their opinions after every match.

We can beat England. Especially if its a sticky wicket like today, Jadeja can be handful. If it swings, Bhuvi can be handful. If it is flat, I say advantage England. We dont have power hitters unfortunately (other than Yuvi and he is hit or miss, Pandya can play a cute 30 but nothing much )

I am pleasantly surprised and amused about the early Australian exit. Before the start I had considered them favorite along with few others.

England batters are freaks, no way our bowlers can contain them without taking regular wickets thru-out their innings.
But lets cross BD first.

On their day, they look great. Having said that, they did just a couple of days ago get smashed by Sri Lanka so.....

We are very consistent when it comes to ICC tournaments. I think our W/L ratio is above 4 since 2011.

If the pitch has some assistance to spin, it's game on . On flat decks England are overwhelming favourites.

No one has noticed this but INDIA is the only team from CWC 2015 to stay and make it to TOP4 in CT

I dont think they needed to prove anything. They have been the most well rounder LOI outfit for quite a while now.

They are good under pressure. That is why even with slightly off color payers they did well. You know Dhawan was not even part of the original XI because of Rahul. Even with inferior form they raise their game.

India has great characters in their team when its crunch time they come alive reminds me of the great pakistani teams who india refused to play with or else our record would be even better vs them head to head in bilateral series.

great pakistani teams who couldn't handle pressure and always lost in world cups. aaj shut up yaar.

South Africa have proven that they are the best all-round team in ODIs in the world

They are the number one ODI side

We will beat India in non ICC tournaments

ICC tournaments are just 'once-off' extrvaganzas. They don't prove greatness

England and Australia have something to say about that. Don't get carried away.

Lets not get too far ahead of ourselves. Yes we are in the semi finals but we have not even been the best team in this tournament forget being the best in the world.

And our record over last 3 years or so isn'st strong enough either to suggest anything otherwise.

Pakistan is ranked no.8 now and India is still not playing them. We could have improved our record as well. Playing or not is depended on politics.

I too thought of it as well but this shoddy performance in CT and the manner in which you got hammered by England makes me change my opinion

England is winning this guys.

Traditionally they used to be tentative and unsure of themselves in ODIs because they were led by darpok players like Hussain, Strauss, Cook. Now that they've gotten rid of all these losers, the biggest change is they're not carrying any baggage from the past.

In the game against Aus yesterday, despite losing 3 early wickets, they never stopped attacking. Their team in the past would have shut shop to try and save wickets.

Whichever team shows boldness in their approach generally does well in ODI tournaments. It's England's turn now (and dare I say in the next WC as well).

You lost to both India and Pakistan in the 2015 world cup, you lost to both Indian and Pakistan in the 2017 CT, you also lost to India in semis of the 2014 T20 WC, you keep losing all the important games to India, so yeah all those meaningless jamodi wins don't prove greatness if you keep losing all the important matches to us, in addition to choking :misbah

I am glad India is not no 1 ranked during this championship. Being no 1 puts you under lots of pressure and every loss is judged against your ranking among other things.

Being no 2 or 3 gives you more breathing room.

Though i must say India is playing like a top team along with England.

This same England team did lose to India in January guys. They are not unbeatable. either way it's going to be a cracker of a final.

Over the last decade, yes.

Currently England.

England? Allround? Lol no, they are a 1 dimensional team, relying completely on their batting strength, their bowling is weak and their batting can't grind it out, their strategy has been working so far in the tournament, but it won't work against India

England vs India seems like the favourites in the final. I think Englnd have a very well-rounded team, and their batting is easily the strongest by a mile. It'll be India's bowlers vs English batters - even then though you have to hope tere's some assistance on the pitch.

Think you're underestimating England's bowling however. Easily one of the most consistent in the tournament.

Well rounded team is one which as all the bases covered, I haven't followed england's matches in this tournament but I have a perception of their bowling being very weak, except mark wood I can't think of any other decent bowler. Also England has been blasting their way out of trouble, but that strategy won't work on a wicket like today where you have to grind it out to score runs. If the wicket is completely flat then I guess England will bat the opposition out of the match but if there is even a little bit of help for the bowlers or just a bit of slowness in the track then I see them struggling to put up a decent total. Also their spin bowling department is weak too, they have relied on a simple strategy to win all matches, it will be interesting to see what'll happen when they face a not so batting friendly wicket.

Coming to India- India's batting is stable and reliable but not explosive, our bowling attack is good but can go for runs on completely flat tracks, we got good pacers and good spinners, fielding has not been up to the mark till now but overall the Indian team is more balanced than England. It would be an interesting match under the right conditions but could even be anti-climatic

England is still the team to beat imo , they look very similar to the team we had few years back .

England are currently superior to India, while a couple of bad games for a depleted Australian squad does not mean Australia, as an ODI side, have been surpassed already.

Why is RSA still ranked #1 team? Surely, tournaments wins or losses should have a lot more weights.

Rashids outdone Jadeja so far this tournament (and has done in general in ODI cricket since the last world cup ) and Plunkett have outdone all the Indian pacers. The bowling attack has performed very respectably this tournament, especially considering it lost Woakes who was arguably the spearhead just a couple of overs into it.

In the last 2 years

Australia vs India 4-1
Australia vs Pakistan 4-1
Australia vs SL 4-1
Australia vs England 3-3
Austraia vs NZ 4-4
Australia vs SA 1-6

Clearly SA has owned OZ every which way during this period

One of the reason bilteral series gives a misleading picture is because teams experiment a lot more in a bilteral series than in a tournament. some of your wins may be wins because opposition didn't take the match seriously.

Maybe there is lesson here? Maybe we can learn from this?

Maybe we should implement that strategy and mentality? And maybe we should criticize those who did the opposite of that instead of glorifying them because they were "nice guys"?

It is not such a revolutionary idea that it did not occur to Pakistanis. You need to have a certain amount of talent to backup the bravery.

Talent, training, hard work and confidence. The hallmarks of true professionals.

Yet, SA isn't really a great team. They not only lost to India, but got a proper thrashing. The Indians didn't break a sweat for even a second the entire match, simply rolled over them.

Really? Against Bangladesh (no offense, they were probably jetlagged) and in a warmup. This is what we are counting at?

That would have been a very long jet lag. One during which they managed to win a tri-nations series in Ireland.

LOl that was really funny!, I didn't know about the tri series, I give you that. It was just Bangladesh being Bangladesh then. Or maybe our attack was too good that day. Or Both. Still I would hold my judgement against Pandya till he performs against a top 4 team in a pressure situation.

no doubt India has gotten better so much over the years.. they still need to match Australia's success and consistency.. so there is still room for improvement imo

India is best based on what. So far They've beaten no 8 ranked team pak and choker saffers. In the semifinal they'll face another lower ranked team bangla.

India qualified for the semifinal because they were in a ridiculously easy group. India would never have qualified if they were in other group. Aussies, kiwis and poms would've beat the crap outta trundlers like bhuvi, bumrah and Pandya.

147 kph is what trundlers bowl at? lol Anywho did you even read the OP or just the title. He clearly mentioned about their consistency across multiple ICC events.

All teams have had their bad day out in this tournament apart from Eng, Let's hope its in Semis or Finals, they are due a bad game/a moment of over-confidence/complacency

No doubt India are looking classy but every match is different. I do expect them to be in the final though no matter what.

England certainly better amongst whatever that is left in CT. Although the Indians are not too far behind. So if they wind up playing in the Finals, anything can happen. Bulk of the money will be on England .... I am sure.

India wouldn't have qualified from the other group, the same group from which bangladesh actually qualified? Are you indirectly trying to say that Bangladesh is better than India :yk brother coconut? :srini

Rashids outdone Jadeja so far this tournament (and has done in general in ODI cricket since the last world cup )

Whatever Rashid may have done against non-Indians, the Indian batsmen play him quite comfortably. After a mediocre Test series where he averaged 37+ against Indians, he was played in only the first ODI where he conceded 50 runs from 5 overs and was dropped for the next two.

If it happens to be an England vs. India final, it would be highly competitive irrespective of who wins. Can't see England going down like SA, and India just ups its game in these matches. Also, England hasn't tasted a tournament victory and India has that little habit, the experience of winning cups.

Even if it is a flat pitch, India will compete hard, we saw in the recent ODI series how India chased 350+ from 65-4, so these guys know how to win from awful situations.

Also, pretty sure it wouldn't be a seaming wicket (Morgan doesn't want it) and would be surprised if it is as dry as it was in last CT final. IMO, it will be about nerves.

first let England reach final, whoever we'll meet in final we'll just destroy them :kohli

England and Australia are better than India

They haven't proven themselves outside home. Australia's only WC win was in Australia and they have been poor outside it while India won the WC at home in 11 and then CT in England and look set to reach finals here again.

England are energetic side and have transformed well but they dont have results like Australia or India. They couldn't win the CT last time even at home.

Its funny people are bringing England here. Let them first produce some results. They couldnt win the CT at home in 13 and failed to make it to WC 15 Qf losing vs Bangladesh. Yes they have made a transformation after that but what are the results away from home for them or let them first win something in big tournaments then we will talk.

They are playing in conditions most conducive to them and if they dont win they are inferior to Aus and India. If this tournament was in Aus or India, I would back these two to win in their respective conditions. At home, even NZ are invincible and England are yet to win at home.

"Not in the world" We would be outbat by Australia 9/10 times on flat roads of Australia.

I don't think the current aussie batting can outbat us even in australia, henriques at 4, head at 5 and maxwell at 6 doesn't make me nervous at all while facing australia on any kind of flat track.

The current Australian side has great potential but they haven't won much away from home.

But the Australian side you faced in a bilateral series in Australia had third string bowling attack too.

West Indies team did stop India in the last T20 world cup (last ICC tourney). And probably it was the only team which could have stopped India (in that format and with that combination).

Hence it requires a similar team to outclass India (who are good in ICC tourneys of late). Australia did it to them in the last ODI world cup, because they had such team to outclass (playing in Australia is always advantageous to Australia).

So this time I guess it is only England who are capable of stopping India (that may happen only in the finals though) playing in their own den or may succumb again as they did previous time (Dhoni's luck & brilliance & prime). Yes India may lose the odd game like Srilanka (and South African in 2011) at league level but knockout games it is only some specific teams who can beat them! I am sure India will beat Srilanka if they meet in finals!

T20s are unpredictable. Whichever team plays better wins it. So I would like to keep that format seperate. Anyone can beat anyone and in any country unless the difference is too big to avoid between them.

All round team perhaps, best team tho? No way. England is the team to beat, they have been the team to beat for past 2 years and will be the team to beat at least until 2019 WC. They're not an allround team due to a relatively worse bowling line up, however even that seems to be shaping up with Rashid and Wood. England are scarily good, providing they don't choke. Players like Root, Buttler, Moeen and Hales are players who don't really seemed fazed, unlike the Bells of yesteryears.
