I believe Modi is a huge pretender. His big words howsoever crazy they may sound are not followed up with action and i am somewhat glad it is so.

He is simply a dishonest leader who uses the hindu nationalism card for political gains only.

It makes sense for NZ PM to comment when minorities are attacked because it is a rare event for them. In such places someone getting slapped in public also becomes news. So not fair to compare India with such countries. Here fights are brawls are common. People shoot others if their car gets scratched. Why expect the PM to make designer statements everytime some criminal does something. Unless it is a major event, and more than 100 people die or get wounded, it is for the state level leaders to comment.

Violence against criminals is not only justified but is must. These people who have picked on people and beaten them up should get the strongest punishment there is.

Yes, should be condemned. I agree with that. Just that well meaning citizen should not resort to violence even if it is against the anti social elements. Pressure must be created, but at the right points. Not fair to ask PM to make a comment on every cause that one holds dear. Responsible citizen must create pressure on the state leaders and state institutions. Every citizen has equal right. Not PM's job to comment for every single citizen. So silence is fair, and comment for one person will be unfair for the victim with no comment.

In a case like this, where one is surrounded by a rabid mob and only says it to potentially save his life from bloodthirsty Sanghi vermin, it is permissible as it is done out of necessity in order to save his life, provided he retains his belief in Allah alone in his heart.
