India must learn from Pakistani batsmen's temperament

Yeah. This thread was probably made when India batted very poorly vs SA and ENG in 2018.

I wonder how India always does so well on Aussie pitches and struggles on Eng, NZ, and SA pitches. Maybe because the Aus pitches are flatter, I don't know.

We don't struggle in SA

Our team has always been competitive in SA

Last time batting was poor because the matches were played on green tops. Even SA batting struggled.

In NZ, we failed only this time. Our bowling and slip fielding let us down in 2014

Credit where its due. Temperament of Indian batsmen in England has improved since the time i created this thread.

Still feel this team could do a lot better with Azhar Ali and Bobby Azam

They have quite clearly heeded your advice and had a look at their batsmen-brethren from across the border.

I'm so glad.

5 tests to go after this..

They need to be thoroughly professional. England is not the place to be brave but to be wise.

Good to see Indian batsmen have learned something from their Pakistani counter-parts.

Babar Azam? Temperament? Didn’t he have a drive an Anderson length ball first over of the 2nd day during the First Test? Was looking set for a 100.

Have not seen any ugly Test innings from him.

Azahar Ali - Defense and temperament
Babar Azam - He drives fours like Sachin in test cricket and that's why I love his batting in test cricket. I wish he played consistently against top fast bowlers and had better thans than Pakistanis. He needs fans like me

The Pakistani team landed in Birmingham today.

If I'm the Indian coach, I would instruct the Indian boys to attend one of the ODIs to learn the temperament needed for batting in England from the likes of Babar, Rizwan & co and hopefully implement the needed changes before the start of the India England test series.

The only thing that Pakistan does better than India in test cricket is stringing partnerships with tail-enders.

I'll give credit to Rizwan for this, because the guy really knows how to bat with tail-enders.

Yes, guys like Ashwin can hold a bat, but you don't expect them to churn out 50+ scores consistently, so even though they can bat, they shouldn't be facing deliveries if possible.

If a batsman has played 50-60 balls, he has to be the one to face the bulk of the deliveries. It's all about cashing in, because the longer you keep your tailenders away from the other team's fast bowlers, the more frustrated they get, and it allows you to assert yourself and dominate them by taking the runs you need and also playing with the field.

Ishant, Shami, and Bumrah cannot hold a bat for their lives, and realistically, if these guys can give you even 10-15 runs consistently, it improves a weak score of 250 to around 300-ish, which is a competitive score in England.

Pakistan has always produced the worst batsmen in terms of talent, skill and mental application.

Indian batsmen need to learn nothing from them. They are several notches above their Pakistani counterparts.

Not sure I agree, Hafeez is a proven match winning batsman who has played top level cricket for 18 years and is admired and respected around the cricketing world for his batting skills.

You can’t play international cricket for 18 years and not be counted among the best of the best. Tendulkar and Gavaskar aside, can’t think of many Indian batsmen who played top level cricket for as long as Hafeez - not even Rahul Dravid, Sehwag and VVS Laxman had it in them as batsmen to survive at the top for so long.
