The 2nd One-Day International (ODI) between India and Australia is scheduled for Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the Adelaide Oval, Adelaide.
This match is now a crucial one in the three-match ODI series, as Australia holds a 1-0 lead after winning the rain-affected first ODI in Perth.

The Series Situation
Australia comes into the 2nd ODI with momentum, having defeated India by seven wickets (DLS method) in the opening match. India, under new ODI captain Shubman Gill, will be looking to bounce back to keep the series alive and force a decider in Sydney.
Australia's Strength

The hosts looked dominant in the first match, with captain Mitchell Marsh leading the way with an unbeaten 46*. Australia’s top order successfully chased a revised target with ease. They will be confident playing at the Adelaide Oval, which typically offers less extreme conditions than the pace and bounce of Perth.

India's Challenge
India's batting lineup, featuring the return of veterans Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, struggled in the first ODI, losing their top three wickets for a combined score of just 18 runs. The Indian team will need its star-studded top order to fire in Adelaide. KL Rahul (38) and the lower order were the only ones to show fight in the first game.

Key Talking Points for the 2nd ODI
* Top Order Form: All eyes will be on Shubman Gill, Rohit Sharma, and Virat Kohli to convert starts into big scores, especially with the series on the line.
* Adelaide Pitch: The conditions at the Adelaide Oval are expected to be less challenging for batters than Perth, which could favor India's experienced lineup and offer a better balance between bat and ball.
* The Bowling Unit: India's bowling attack, without Jasprit Bumrah for this series, will need to be more penetrative and disciplined to test Australia's confident batting line-up. Fast bowlers have been more dominant than spinners in recent games at the venue, although the pitch is not as pace-friendly as Perth.

Expect a high-stakes, competitive match as India fights to level the series before moving on to the final OD
I in Sydney.

@Hellion and @Devadwal India have a great chance in next ODIs, remember how Rizwan also lost his first match as ODI captain against Australia in Australia. Shubman is just following his neighbor's veteran. So Aussies should be really scared. 👍
As long as he doesn't follow Rizwan in every series it is fine.

India needs to Play Kuldeep Yadav , I want two more failure of Kohli and Rohit so they will forever dropped from the team.

Jaiswal and Abhishek are waiting for their chance just because two oldies.

Hopefully, Shubman won't follow suit with an ICC event humiliation like Rizwan did and then get kicked out of captaincy.

So happy for you that your thread finally gave you the validation and happiness that you so desperately needed after multiple thrashings every other Sunday.

Hahah...we have a big heart that's why you guys love hanging around here.

On Rizwan bit, don't worry Shubman and GG is there to stay until, irrespective of their failures or successes as he stated himself his goal is to win 2027 ODI WC

I want two more failures of Gill so the whole world will see his appointment as an ODI captain is a farce.

Rohit was doing a great job, should have been continued.
Rohit will be very lucky if he plays in 3rd match at Sydney. If not gill some other youngster will come as captain but not rohit.Reports already suggest rohit and gill had a spat before first match

You wanna bet ? I can bet my entire money earn through betting that they will not play 2027 World Cup. :klopp :ko
Both looked awful. No chance of them competing against jaiswal and tilak.both of them won't have even time to practise in domestic games and wants their place as kings.Pathetic mentality even in 25 like 90.

I'm huge fan of Virat and Rohit but now they are liability for us. I don't want any more passengers in our team Just because they are big names.

Jaiswal, Abhishek and Tilak are waiting to grabbed the Opportunity.

Toh kya Shabnam khelegi, can't play under pressure, didn't you see how he threw away his wicket in World Cup & Asia Cup final.

Rohit doesn't even play domestic. He will be 40 by 2027 world cup. India cannot groom a captain during world cup. So this move eas good one. No big deal if he loses a coule of bilateral games.
They are going to play in Vijay Hazare. India needs their experience in South Africa. These youngsters will be sitting ducks.

Adelaide & Sydney are traditionally flat wickets. Australia won't prepare pace & bouncy wickets or else they will lose 5-0 in India in 2027 test series.

In SENA conditions they will be owned. So far they got away in subcontinental conditions. BgT exposed them. Kohli will get out chasing wide balls.

Aus dont care about roko or test series after 2 years.they will do what's best for them just like bgt green track in Sydney.
Even flat tracks in aus have something better tgan sub continental flat tracks .moreover ground size is quite big making rohit to run.

Even dhawan was dragged till 22 end after 2019 wc unnecessarily. Instead of that nonsense, team should have gone for gill quickly to groom him.just the case for Jaiswal , tilak , jurel etc now.

Yea few losses in bilaterals don't mean much. He will have grip of captaincy by the time WC comes.
