ACC U19 Asia cup 2021- will take place on December 23rd to December 31st in the United Arab Emirates.

Its not a tourney people follow closely however it is a good practice or warm up for the u19 world cup which will start in January 14th of 2022.

In terms of History in this tournament India has truly dominated since they have won the tournament 7 times.

Afghanistan also won in 2017 when they beat Pakistan in the finals.

Pakistan did share the trophy in 2012, when they played India in the finals. That match ended up being a tie, with India needing 1 run to win, and with the very last ball of the match Ehsan Adil was able to pick up a wicket to have the match tied and both team shared the trophy.

Pakistan record in this particular tournament is not great and will be hoping to turn it around.

In this years edition, their will be 8 teams each played in 2 groups of 4. The top 2 teams in each group will advance to the semi finals.

Here are the groupings.

Group A ( India) (Pakistan) (Afghanistan) (UAE)

Group B ( Sri Lanka) ( Bangladesh) ( Nepal) (Kuwait)

India will take on Pakistan on December 25th.

Regardless best of Luck to all teams, and hoping for a good tourney,

A real test for our U19s. As I said before if Zeeshans action is clean he has a very good chance to go all the way.

A lot of People say we should have a strong team this time around, and should do well in both U19 asia cup and u19 world cup. How about the other teams, how does India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, look in terms of squad, do they look like strong teams this time around, I am asking because i really am not sure. Thanks

If Dravid is continuing his process we will probably send an inexperienced squad that will be looking for “ experience “ than victory

Pakistan has also sent an inexperienced squad :)

If i am not mistaken from this Asia cup sqaud, Pakistan did have 4 players who were part of the u19 world cup squad in 2020, Qasim Akram, Abdul Bangalazai, Irfan Khan and Muhammad Shehzad

I may have got the wrong end of the stick but for mr Qasim Akram isn't very good as a batsman or a bowler. I hope everyone that rates him is right and I am wrong.

Qasim Akram played most of the matches I think.Shezard played 1 game I think.

Bangalazai i don't think played thou.

India players who get picked proberly would have played more domestic cricket.anyways Irfan Khan is proberly the weeker players of the squad alongside shehzad.

He is a mr hafeez clone...and lets face it Mr Hafeez has hardly set the world on fire

If we compare to the indian squad, i believe known of their players were part of the previous u19 world cup. Regardless their is a alot of new faces in that Pakistan sqaud, so will be interesting to see what they can do

Yes their was some part of the last u19s World cup whilst in the India squad I can't remember anyfrom this squad that played in the last.i think this years squad is better than last years as they have mystery spinners.

India in general will usually always have a strong squad so i will not be surprised if the team they field is a good one.

Qasim Akram is a genuine batsman, he's very talented, no way he should be batting at 7. 4-5 is better for him.

I am sure there wont be any coverage besides i noticed pak india match is not even at sharjah its in dubai academy

Which channel is that on Sky?

Its not on SKY. Its an OTT platform for which you need to take a monthly subscription. Yupp TV is the only official way to see this tournament in UK I think.

However, this series will be telecasted both in PTV Sports and DD Sports (In India). So I am sure there are many free streaming sites available.

I expect IndU19 to beat PakU19 in next game. This is a repeat of 2018 where after an epic phainta in CT Finals, we took some solace in beating their side in U19 world cup. Similarly here after getting 152/0 humiliation, our boys will be pumped up to take revenge.

Basically the onus these days is on U19 Kids to do the clean up job for Kohli's failures :misbah

Maybe India wins on the 25th, and than like champions trophy final Pakistan wins the final :D I really wouldnt mind that at all :) haha

I am surprised there are no comments about player’s ages especially from Indians.

Forget ages why is irfan khan and shehzad in the squad once u play a u19s World cup you should not be allowed to play in It again.

Winning against Ind is neither here nor there. What we need to see is potential players for PK and their temperament. If 2 batsman and a bowler come out of this lot, Ijaz has done his job.

Babar played in two under 19 WCs, so did Ahmed Shehzad and Sami Aslam and some others.

India, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka got off to a winning start on the first day of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup matches held at the ICC Academy ground and Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Sri Lanka registered an emphatic 274 runs over Kuwait at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium.

UAE vs India at ICC Academy 1

Harnoor Singh's century guides India to victory over hosts UAE

Opener Harnoor Singh cracked a century and guided India to a formidable total and outplay hosts UAE by 154 runs at the ICC Academy ground 1. Singh carried his form from the recent Triangular Series in India where he had scored 111 against Bangladesh in Kolkata last month. On the opening day of the ninth edition of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, Singh cracked 120 off 130 deliveries studded with 11 boundaries to help India post 282 for 5 in 50 overs. UAE could muster only 128 runs before the tight Indian bowling attack.

Earlier, UAE won the toss and elected to field. Host skipper Alishan Sharafu ran out Indian opener Angkrish Raghuvanshi for 2 in the third over. However, opener Harnoor Singh picked the gaps well, and along with one-drop Shaik Rasheed, accelerated the run flow. Singh reached his half-century in 57 balls. The pair put on 90 runs for the second wicket before Afzal Khan got his reward for his tight bowling. He had Rasheed caught by Soorya Satish for 35. Rasheed’s knock which came off 60 balls had just one boundary.

Skipper Yash Dhull joined Singh and India went past the 150 run mark in 32 overs. Singh reached his century in 106 balls with ten boundaries. India’s 200 runs came in the 42nd over and Dhull reached his half-century in 61 balls. In the 44th over, Sharafu ended Singh’s fine knock by having him caught by Dhruv Parashar for 120. Singh and Dhull had recorded a 120 runs partnership in 130 balls for the third wicket. After Nishant Sindhu got run out for a duck, Sharafu ended Dhull’s knock of 63 by trapping him leg before. His 63 came off 68 balls, and had four boundaries. Then Rajvardhan Hangargekar lifted India to formidable total of 282 for 5 through a quick unbeaten 48 off just 23 balls with six boundaries and two sixes.

Chasing the target, UAE found it tough to maintain the momentum before the tight Indian bowling. Though opener Kai Smith played confidently to hit 45 runs, the rest of the batsmen could not rise to the challenge. One drop Dhruv Parashar (19) and skipper Alishan Sharafu (11), despite settling down, could not covert their innings into a big knock.

Medium-pacer Garv Sangwan took the wickets of both Parashar and Sharafu. To make matters difficult for the UAE, Punya Mehra got run out for 6. Smith, who was batting fluently on 45, also got caught behind in the bowling of off-spinner Kaushal Tambe. When Tambe struck again to have Ali Naseer caught and bowled for a duck, UAE was struggling at 92 for 5. Medium-pacer Rajvardhan Hangargekar hastened their victory taking two quicks wickets of Nilansh Keswani for 3 and Adithya Shetty for one. Soorya Satish went for his shots and hit a quick 21 runs off 26 balls with four boundaries before he was trapped leg-before by left-arm spinner Vicky Oswal.

Commenting on the century, Player of the Match Harnoor Singh said: “It is a special feeling to get a century in the Asia Cup. Though I did hit a century last month in the Triangular series, I would rate this as more important. This knock is also special since I have been able to help my country get off to a good start in this tournament.”

India captain Yash Dhull hailed Harnoor Singh's knock and said: “It was a brilliant century and we needed that to pile up a good score. I enjoyed batting with him too. I think we bowled, batted, and fielded well, and that has given us this win. We want to continue to perform in such a manner in the coming matches.”

UAE skipper Alishan Sharafu feels the exposure against India will do them good. “We feel that we bowled well against such a strong batting lineup. A total of 275 was a par score on this wicket. We should have batted better but we could not produce any partnerships. It was a good test of our skills. We will work on our shortcomings and put on a stronger performance in the coming matches.”

Kuwait vs Sri Lanka at Sharjah Cricket Stadium

Sri Lanka dominate Kuwait for emphatic victory

Sri Lanka registered an impressive 274 runs victory over Kuwait at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. They displayed their batting strength to pile up 323 for 5 and then bowled out Kuwait for just 49 runs. Pawan Pathiraja lead the run spree through a knock of 86 and bag the Player of the Match award.

Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat and got off to a brilliant start. Openers Chamindu Wickramasinghe and Shevon Daniel scored at a brisk pace. Wickramasinghe reached his half-century in 47 balls. Daniel played second fiddle and the pair put on 91 runs in 17.2 overs before Wickramasinghe got bowled by Habier Ali. His knock of 54 off 57 balls had five boundaries and a six.

Daniel reached his half-century in 60 balls but four runs later Abdullah Zaheer got him out leg before. His 54 came off 65 balls with four boundaries and a six. Sadisha Rajapaksa then went for his shots and Sri Lanka went past the 150 run mark in 27 overs. Habier Ali struck again to remove Rajapaksa whose 35 off 37 balls included four boundaries. Pawan Pathiraja then increased the run flow with some powerful shots.

Sri Lanka reached went past 200 runs in 36 overs. Ranuda Somarathne played the supporting role and the pair put on 114 runs in 93 deliveries for the fourth wicket before Pathiraja fell to Zeeshan Azeem for 86 off 72 balls with eleven boundaries. Azeem also dismissed Sri Lankan skipper Dunith Wellalage for 19. Ranuda Somarathne remained unbeaten on 60 off 57 balls with four boundaries to ensure a whopping total of 323 for 5 in 50 overs.

Kuwait needed to score at a run rate of 6.46 to achieve their target. Their opener and skipper Meet Bhavsar along with Jude Saldanha posted 31 runs from 5.3 overs. Sadisha Rajapaksa ended that partnership by clean bowling Bhavsar for 25. Rajapaksa also removed one-down Muhammad Umar for 2. With the score on 40, opener Saldanha got stumped by wicketkeeper Anjala Bandara off Rajapaksa for 12.

When Matheesha Pathirana clean bowled Abdullah Zaheer for a duck and Dunith Wellalage trapped Abdul Sadiq leg before for 3, Kuwait slipped to 45 for 5 in 15.1 overs. Kuwait’s wickets continued to fall when Wellalage went on to trap Abdullah Farooq too leg before for 1. The quick wickets made it a mountainous task for Kuwait and they hoped for Sharyn Hill and Hilda Hills to lift them out of trouble. But the next three wickets fell with the still on 49. Wellalage did the damage by removing Hilda and Habier Ali in quick succession.

Sri Lankan skipper Dunith Wellalage hailed his team’s all-round performance. “It was a splendid all-round performance from our team. I am happy with the contribution from every team member, Pawan Pathiraja. Chamindu and Shevon and Ranudu got half-centuries, and Sadisha bowled and batted well. I am glad that Matheesha and I could ensure that we record a big win.”

Player of the Match Pawan Pathiraja attributed his knock to the encouragement from his teammates. “I am so happy that I could contribute to my team’s victory. I was able to play such a knock because of the encouragement from those who batted with me and all the others who cheered for me from outside. I am disappointed that I could not get my century but I will surely try and reach that mark in the coming matches.”

Kuwait skipper Meet Bhavsar believes it was a learning curve for his team. “They (Sri Lankans) batted and bowled so well. It was too good for us but we need to improve. Though I top-scored with 25, I would want all others to also stay longer and contribute in the coming matches. Had we not lost wickets so quickly we could have posted at least 150 to 200 runs. But we will surely try harder in the coming matches.”

Prantik Nawrose Nabil

Sky sports has become a waste of money. They dont show 90% of cricket which they used to show in the past!

Riding on Prantik Nawrose’s elegant century, Bangladesh recorded a 154 runs victory over Nepal on the second day of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Playing in Bangladesh’s first match of the ninth edition of the ACC Under-19 Asia Cup, Nawrose displayed immense patience picking the right deliveries to hit. His century helped Bangladesh post a commanding 297 for 4 in 50 overs, well backed by Md Fahim with 54 runs. Nepal could record only 143 in 42.3 overs.

Nawrose had carried the confidence from his century against the India Under 19 team in the Under-19 Tri-nation series in Kolkata on December 1, 2021. He had played a knock of 101 and ensured Bangladesh a 113-runs win over India Under-19 in Kolkata.

Bangladesh won the toss and elected to bat on a bald wicket where the grass had been shaved off. Openers Mahfijul Islam and Iftakher Hossain gave Bangladesh a steady start. Though the Nepal bowlers could not get a breakthrough, they bowled tight and in the first 10 overs Bangladesh could score only at a run rate of three per over. Nepal earned the reward for their disciplined bowling in the 11th over when Tilak Raj Bhandari had Islam caught by Arjun Saud for 17 at the score on 39.

Nawrose joined Hossain and added another 28 runs before Iftikar got run out on 21 off a brilliant fielding from Mohammad Aadil Alam. Aich Mollah and Nawrose kept the scoreboard moving. Left-handed Naworse picked the gaps brilliantly despite Nepal’s tight fielding. Bangladesh went past the 100 run mark in the 26th over. Nawrose and Aich put on 38 runs for the third wicket before Aich got caught off Mohammad Aadil Alam for 22.

Nawrose reached his half century in 63 balls off an elegant cover drive for his fifth boundary. Md Fahim who joined Nawrose scored briskly. Bangladesh went past the 150 run mark in the 35th over through a six by Fahim off Gulshan Jha. Fahim also hit Bibek Yadav for his second six in the 36th over. Nawrose played his pull shots with elegance and Bangladesh raced to the 200th mark in the 41st over. Fahim reached his 50 in 49 balls. He retired hurt in the 43rd over after scoring 58 off 54 balls with three boundaries and a six. He had also added 117 runs with Nawrose in 100 balls.

Nawrose moved into his nineties flicking Yadav for a six in the 45th over and reached his century in the next over. His ton came off 98 balls with eight boundaries and a six. Meherob Hasan, who joined Nawrose, hit a quick 21 runs off 15 balls before going for a wild shot and getting bowled to Gulshan Jha. Nawrose and Ariful Islam added another 13 runs and carried the team to a total of 297 for 4 in 50 overs.

Chasing a run rate of 5.94 needed a good start. Nepal opener Arjun Kumal lasted only six balls to score five runs before being bowled by Tanzim Hasan Sakib. Nepal skipper and opener Dev Khanal and Santosh Kari took the score to 21 when Khanal became Sakib’s second victim, clean bowled for 12. This brought in Bibek Kumar Ranamagar but his partner Kari fell to the guiles of left arm spinner and skipper Rakibul Hasan for 3. Arjun Saud and Ranamagar added 25 runs for the fourth wicket before Saud fell to Meherob Hasan’s right-arm off spin for 15.

Four wickets down for 48 in 17.5 overs, Basir Ahamad joined Saud but found it hard to score off the tight Bangladesh bowling. In the 25 overs, they could score only 64 runs. In the 31st over left-arm spinner Naimur Rohman Noyon had Ahamad caught and bowled for 8 after the pair had added 28 runs in 75 balls for the fifth wicket. Ranamagar, who had kept the run flowing through a knock of 33 off 60 balls, got run out by Meherob. Bibek Kumar Yadav and Gulshan Kumar Jha put on 60 runs in 59 runs but that could only delay Bangladesh inevitable victory. Meherob ended Yadav’s innings of 26 and while Jha got run out for 35.

Prantik Nawrose, who was adjudged the Player of the Match, said he wants to extend his form into the coming matches. “This is my third century this month. I scored against India and then when we played a practice match between ourselves where I scored another century. For me what matters most is not about scoring centuries but staying on at the wicket and giving my country a good total. I enjoy doing what my country demands off me and I am happy I played my role well today.”

Bangladesh skipper Rakibul Hasan wants other batsmen too to follow Nawrose. “I will be happy if many more centuries come in during the coming matches. We have started off well with a creditable victory. We wanted to stick to our plans as we did today. It wasn’t easy to bowl second but our bowlers bowled really well.”

Nepal skipper Dev Khanal believes that they started the match well but Bangladesh took the match away. “We were in the game till the 34th over as we bowled well. All credit to Nawrose and Fahim, they took the game away from us through their fine knock. We also allowed them to get away taking two runs in place of singles. As a batting unit, our top order did not show the intent though the lower order batsmen did. We will look into these aspects and play better in the coming games.”

We may see India vs Pakistan in the final.

Pakistan are favorites to win the trophy now.

Better luck next time. I wish your team reaches into finals and heals the 152-0 wound by defeating Pak.

Pakistan squad is very good this time and balanced much better than the one in the world cup.

From Indian U19 team, here is a breakdown of what I can find :

Yash Dhull :
Dhull was a leading run-getter in the Vinoo Mankad Trophy earlier this year. He averaged 75.50 for his 302 runs for the DDCA in the five matches that the team played during the tournament.

Harnoor Singh Pannu :
Punjabi lad, from Chandigarh.Comes from a family of cricketers. His father, Birinder Singh, had represented Punjab U-19 team while his grandfather Rajinder Singh was involved with the game in Punjab. The Chandigarh lad scored the highest 412 runs, including three centuries, during the U-19 Challenger Trophy

Raj Angad Bawa
Chandigarh all-rounder Raj Angad Bawa has also made it to India A team for the Triangular series.
Playing for Team B, Raj Angad scored a total of 154 runs including a century (119) and eight wickets in three innings with the best bowling figures of 3/45. A lanky fast bowler and attacking left-handed batsman, Raj Angad is son of renowned cricket coach Sukhwinder Bawa and grandson of hockey Olympian Tarlochan Bawa, who was member of the team that won the Gold at London in 1948.

Angkrish Raghuvanshi : Delhi born but has now moved to Mumbai.
Delhi-born Angkrish Raghuvanshi first came to Mumbai when he was 11 to train under former India all-rounder Abhishek Nayar and made the city of dreams his base. On Friday, opening batsman Raghuvanshi, 17, was selected in the 20-member India squad for the U-19 Asia Cup to be held in the United Arab Emirates from December 23. Delhi’s Yash Dhull will lead the team.
Raghuvanshi scored 214 runs (two half-centuries) in four matches of the U-19 Vinoo Mankad Trophy at Ahmedabad in September-October. In the U-19 Challenger Trophy last month at Ahmedabad, he scored 141 runs in five matches, representing India ‘E’.
Mumbai's under-19 chief selector Atul Ranade says Raghuvansh reminds him of Rohit Sharma

SK Rasheed : Andhra cricketer. Batter. Could not find much information about him.

Left-arm spinner Amrit and medium-fast bowler Ravi have been on top of their game in
recent times with both being in the recentlyconcluded U19 Triangular Series in Kolkata, the Cricket Association of Bengal said on Friday.

Rishith Reddy : 6 Feet Tall Hyderabad's bowling allrounder.
This year, Rishith has been in good form, particularly with the ball, in the under-19 tournament. Standing over 6 feet, he captured 13 wickets in Hyderabad’s good run in the Vinoo Mankad one-day tournament where they reached the semifinals. His best haul was 6/34 against Goa.
