Can someone answer me why legendary captain picked 5 bowlers for a day 8 pitch?
Even he might be wondering the same

Why would you pick Ishant when your attacking options are going to be your spinners? The decision was solid.
I don't understand why you are so confused.
Our lower order comprises of Ashwin, Jaddu and Jayant all of whom averaged 40+ last series.
Then you have our top 5 + Saha.
Why wouldn't Kohli go with 5 bowlers?
No brainer really.
Why would you pick Ishant when your attacking options are going to be your spinners?
Again, this is Ishant we're talking about. I'd rather have another batsmen in to cover Rahane and Saha who aren't the most reliable atm.
I agree.
Ishant was a mistake.
Rahane was a disaster waiting to happen. Its one of those things where you can't do anything but wait for things to blow up to change stuff.
Sadly Shami was injured.
I think we will be drafting Aniket for the next test and we will play 5 bowlers.
Rahane if he flops in 2nd innings will be under the pump as well.
who is aniket?
I don't get the logic in bowling the pacers now...
They're one wicket away from Wade...
This guy

Took 4fer against Bangladesh during the tour game.
http://www.espncricinfo.com/india-v-bangladesh-2016-17/engine/match/1079814.html
Heard him along with a few other pacers are with the Indian team training.
This guy apparently got Kohli out many times in the nets.
The shot he played second ball was disgraceful and reeked of arrogance.#KaptainKohli2
Kohli is in that zone now where he is doing haphazard things and hoping for them to work.

Nos look ok, is he any good, what is his pace?
Will this be Kohli's first defeat as captain?
Even if Aus lose this series 1-3, it's clear they are a better side than this Indian side.
India wouldn't win a single game in Aus.
At home.Lost in Adelaide and Galle
Didn't Dhoni Captain in Adelaide?
Its sad but happens.
Terrible day and most likely a lost test.
But 5 bowler strategy is fine considering Jayant is so good with the bat.
5 bowlers aint the problem if your top 5 can play spin properly. We threw away wickets and Rahane (as good he is outside Asia) will not be amongst the top 10 or even top 15 bats in India on turners.
A much needed reality check for Team India. Let's hope Australia don't do anything stupid tomorrow and complete a crushing win.
Nothing is more overbearing than the Australians getting on top and they just might draw this series.
Kohli has a huge ego, he ain't giving up on this match as of yet. Expect him to fire in the 2nd innings2
His ego is the reason why India are in this hole.Kohli has a huge ego, he ain't giving up on this match as of yet. Expect him to fire in the 2nd innings2
Needs to bat sensibly, he didn't give himself a chance to have any impact. Played one hell of a stupid shot second ballWe shall see. He definitely shouldn't be having too many problems against Keefe and Lyon at home. Just has to ensure his weaknesses against pace isn't exposed.

Too late now, the game has gone.It was not weakness against pace but complacency on his behalf that contributed to his downfall.
He thought he was in the form of his life, he could just come out and dominate against a fast bowler on pitches tailor made for spinners.
Happens to the best of the them. He will be much more focused come the 2nd innings.
nz-sa*too late now, the game has gone.
Better off watching nz-aus than watching india crumble again tomorrow.

Today would be a good day for Steve Smith to commit a crime.
No one will catch him.

Maybe we can get in Pandya instead of Jayant and play an attacking spinner for Ishant.Maybe Kuldeep/Chahal
On such pitches you do need an extra batsman actually.Have to be flexible.Ishant does nothing
Who are those 15 bats against spin?Send them an SOS![]()
Outbatted sure. We were shocking with the bat.
Outbowled? How? Aus didn't throw away wickets as crazily as India did.
Our spinners bowled the exact same way they did against England and Bangladesh. Umesh was very good in first innings.
Early days yet but I am hoping this tour is the most competitive test series in India for 4 years. It has gotten so tedious seeing India annihilate all and sundry. Australia have already surpassed my expectations after what transpired in Sri Lanka last summer. Most likely this will end up a repeat of India's tour to England in 2014.

Australia have a lead of 300 runs. This is because they batted and bowled better than India.
Batted. Yes.
Bowled. Not really.
Check out how we got out.
If anything its their pacers who bowled some really good balls to get our top order bats out. Rahul, Jaddu, Jayant were irresponsible. Ashwin hit the boots. Umesh slogged and got out.
Name one dismissal that was pure solid spin bowling. I can think of only 2 and that is for Saha and Rahane.
I am absolutely baffled as to how you consistently refer to wickets on such pitches as being wickets thrown away rather than calling them for what they are ie devlish pitch behavior (talking generally not this match)
Yes some wickets maybe innocous deliveries not doing much but thats the whole point. The pitch has messed up batters' minds where they are looking for demons which arent there and end up playing mindless shots
Mate every collapse ever is exactly like this.
That's the point.
Is this pitch easy peasy? Not really.
But can you score if you get in? Yes.
That's what I am saying.
Not sure what you found surprising.
If you remember my posts, I was very very apprehensive of Ash and Jaddu running through Aussies in 3rd innings once India collapsed. That's cos I knew it would likely not happen and unfortunately it didn't.
Disagree. Every 6-7 overs there's a delivery which takes some wild turn and bounce and is basically not negotiable regardless of how set you are. So this is always in the batsman's mind and he will be looking out for these thus being nervy and not in total control. Hence will get caught up playing poor shots.
(Going back to previous debates on pitches we have had)
Lol at India
I thought they were supposed to win 4-0 without breaking a sweat![]()

Are you claiming that Kohli does not have a weakness against pace that has been exposed time and time again by good bowlers or spicy pitches? Choose your words carefully.

He had a weakness, not sure about it now.
You can't make judgements based on 1 innings.
It's the mindset change that was inflicted by the pitch. Stop downplaying the opposition and admit that India have been completely outplayed on a pitch tailor-made for them.
Vijay, Pujara and Kohli were dismissed by the pacers so the only batsmen left are Rahane and Saha. So what exactly do you want me to tell you again? Discuss the modes of dismissal of some bowling all-rounders and tail-enders?
Salute hi bhai....dono cheeje cover kr gya .....run maar gya toh kahega expected hai...home hai....keefe shefie ke samne toh mar hi leta run....nahi maaare run toh kehdiyo...dekha mshkil pitch aayi pressure aya nahi maar hue run....bhai apna dono sides pehle hi cover krke chalta ki aage ek hi answer dena hai...njaare hai veere aish hai...We shall see. Convict You might recall our discussion about having a camp prior to the series to work with local coaches and spinners will pay dividends. They've only worked with an Indian coach for a week, already showing the results.

Smith giving it away by bowling O'keefe here. He can't even keep it tight.
We will do better than that unless there is an epic collapse. Saha, Ashwin, Jaddu, Jayant all are capable batsmen to chip in with 30's and 40's. Lot will depend on current pair though esp Rahane.
You know things are bad when there are more Pakistanis in an Indian match thread.![]()
