RSA is using Indians to beat India. This Muthusamy guy looks like good all-rounder, although, his bowling action seems questionable.

SA - 272/6 (94 overs).

If these two can stay there till lunch, job well done.

1 more hour till lunch. :inti

These two grinding here , India has not bowled too many lose balls. The batsmen have to work hard for each run.

SA - 275/6 (95 overs).

Need to reach 450-500 if possible. That should ensure a South African series win (draw or SA win). :inti

No crowds. Which moron in the BCCI thought it was a good idea to schedule tests in obscure parts of India ?

Everyone contributing with meaningful runs by SA in a test match in India is such a heartening sight.
Seemed impossible after the Kallis-Smith era.

ICC = BCCI, right?

Jadeja to Muthusamy, no run

A confident and an animated appeal for lbw, and the umpire takes his time to give it out. Muthusamy reviews, though. The ball dipped on a fullish length just outside off, and Muthusamy went sweeping. The ball turned in a bit, and the first replay shows the ball being very close to the gloves. Oh, it goes below the bat and also beats the gloves, as ball tracking confirms. No, wait... there's barely a murmur in the line as the ball is passing the glove. Wow, that was almost invisible, and even Rod Tucker, who gave it out, looks surprised. Not out it is.

SA have played with a lot of Self-belief they've played like champions.

Brother Muthu has shown amazing composure and self-control. Like an Indian saint.

Ten Doeschate lauds Kuldeep's skillset in Guwahati Test

The first ever Test match in Guwahati has both the sides on level terms heading into Day 2.

The second Test in Guwahati is a must-win match for India to avoid a home series loss against the current World Test Champions. For South Africa, who already have one hand on the trophy after winning the first Test in Kolkata, the focus is on securing their first Test series victory on Indian soil in 25 years. The first ever Test match in Guwahati began with both teams refusing to loosen their grip on the ICC World Test Championship contest.

With South Africa putting up 247 runs on the board at the end of day one, India’s assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate isn’t worried about the eventual first-innings target they may have to chase. Instead, he is focused on delivering the best possible bowling effort on Day 2 to wrap up South Africa’s lower order.

“I don't want to put a number on the score. I think it's really important that we come out and put our best foot forward, our best bowling foot forward tomorrow morning.” said Ryan.

“Every run is going to be important. Getting Tony De Zorzi's wicket towards the end of the day is massive. It's a big difference coming in tomorrow and needing four wickets compared to five.”

Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers for India snapping three out of the six wickets that fell on Day 1. The wrist spinner was crucial in providing crucial breakthroughs which included the wickets of a well-set Ryan Rickelton and Tristan Stubbs.

“Three wickets on that surface on day one. We know Kuldeep's strike rate is phenomenal as it is. He's a wicket taker and that's why we're picking him.

“I thought everyone bowled well. But maybe the fact that he sort of gets overspin and with the red soil and a little bit more pace in the wicket, maybe he was slightly more effective in the conditions today.”

“I think later on the finger spinners are going to come into it. But certainly in terms of strategy and how we wanted to set up the first day, it's a real bonus for him to pick up three wickets and get us a foothold in the game.”

The Proteas batters will rue their missed chances after failing to convert their starts into big scores. Ryan Rickelton and Aiden Markram provided a solid foundation for South Africa but both openers fell in their 30s. Tristan Stubbs and Temba Bavuma also looked well set as they pushed towards substantial totals, yet they both got out on 49 and 41 respectively.

The Indian bowlers held their discipline throughout the day, ensuring none of the South African batters went on to play a big knock.

South Africa have found their mojo in cricket back. Won World Test Championship ( granted with a bit of luck), drew Pakistan in Pakistan( morally destroyed them) and will likely draw India in India.

They are 3rd best side in the world in my opinion only behind Australia and India.

If they draw this game they will win the series.

Muthusamy making life hell for Indian bowlers.....

Brilliant gritty knock so far... Should get a hundred

Maybe indians should be more worried about team indias recent Performances in Tests rather than spamming the Ashes thread with nonsense.

Indian bowling is minnow level same south african team was in the ropes vs pakistan until rabadda came all gun blazing where as india playing 3 spinners has been esposed big time.

India just beat Pakistan 3-0 in Asia cup. So pipe down. These Ind v Pak comparison using 3rd team makes no sense. India is a better side than your team across all formats.
