I think when Edwards got Dravid bowled on a great ball we were in slight trouble and Windies still had a chance so Laxman innings from thereon was crucial even though it looks all well right now.

I am not for resting star players just before an important tournie (down under). Some of them take time to regain form, and sometimes they even need to regain form before the important tournie. We saw what happened before the England tour. I advocate rotation and resting too but the timing is critical.
