India vs Ireland Result | India comprehensively beat Ireland by 8 wickets

what will be impact on ireland run rate after this thrashing

You really seem to fear the Indian crowd :))
That game at the MCG against SA really showed the power of a vocal crowd.

The Indian players fed from it while the SA's were overwhelmed by it.

Agree, SA must have been overwhelmed. The support for India at MCG was almost unreal... full marks to India for not getting carried away though.

Kohli only 44 from 42 deliveries ? We have superstar batsmen in the tournament who score this total in half the number of deliveries. :)

Virat survived the whole game without cussing...lmao
A new milestone-Sanjay Manjrekar
Well played, India, tbh.

Damn minnows winning the toss & batting first have kept our bats away from the top scorers charts.

First 18 overs were absolutely fantastic from my point of view. Watching Stirlo just stand up and treat the Indian fast bowlers like any associate attack was immensely satisfying. We lost the game by not sending Balbirnie, our best player of spin, out at 4 and sending Niall instead who struggled for about 40 balls before clicking.

Bowling is what it is. Stunned at Young being overlooked yet again. Something has to be going on there.

Least we gave Indias bowlers a bit of a work-out plus there were some decent knocks. Have to somehow try take wickets though, until then it wont matter how well we bat.

So we are playing at the MCG?

That is not yet decided brother.it depwnds upon where bangladesh end up in group A.if bangladesh end up 4th in group A,we will be playing our qf in MCG.IF BD beat nz and end up 3rd,sl will be placed 4th.then we will play our qf in SCG.

The venues for group A qualifiers are fixed.in whatever position they end up,irrespective of that they will be playing their qf's at pre-decided fixed venues..like australia at Adelaide, sl at scg, bangladesh at mcg and nz in some venue in nz

Yes.We have secured top spot now too

Only thing whether its SL or BD

Nope buddy..our match in mcg is still not confirmed.we play at mcg only if Bangladesh comes last in group A..orelse we will play it in Adelaide with srilanka

Good win for us...But I was disappointed that Jadeja was not sent in after Dhawan's wicket. We just needed 70 runs and the Irish bowling was not threatening. It would have done Jadeja a world of good, if he had got a 20-30 not out. He is very important for us in the knockout with the bat. Hopefully Dhoni will do that in the game against Zimbabwe.

So venue will change according to lower placed team?Whats the logic with that?

Yeah..venues are pre decided based on group A teams,so has to give some certainty to fans to plan travel..irrespective of where they end up in group standings Australia play their qf in Adelaide, nz in auckland, srilanka in sydney and as originally conceived england in mcg.as bangladesh have made to quarterfinals in place of england bangladesh will play their qf in mcg irrespective of their standings in group A.but india can play thier qf in mcg only if bangladesh end up last in their group, which may happen most probably.if BD beat nz in their last group match they will end up 3rd in the group and Sri lanka will be 4th from that group.then inthat case india will play sri lanka in Sydney in qf's.though i doubt it will happen.but possibility is there for it to happen

I get the logic with home teams. But others shouldnt be decided like that.

It had to do with ICC Rankings of NZ,AUS, ENG and SL in Group B. Never understood the logic TBH

they clearly explained the logic. Majority of the times, you would expect top tanked teams to go through the next level. Having a fixed schedule for those teams will help the teams and especially fans to plan their schedule well ahead. That's why Top 4 teams in Pool A were always going to play at the same venue regardless of where they ended up in the points table.

Ok, then why pool A then? Coz Aus and NZ are in Pool A? So SL and Eng(originally) were automatically benefited from being in same pool as the hosts?

How did SL and England get higher rankings than India & SA?

India isn't top ranked but SL is?

Yep. Hosts always get precedence as per ICC norms. It is nothing new. Same thing happened in 2011 world cup too..

here is the full explanation from ICC. http://www.icc-cricket.com/cricket-world-cup/fixtures/finals

Explaining the quarter-final venue allocations, ICC General Manager – Cricket, Geoff Allardice, said: “It is customary for the ICC to afford the hosts the opportunity to play knock-out matches at home where possible during an ICC Cricket World Cup.

“It is also usual for the ICC to assign venues to the higher ranked teams on the assumption they will progress through the pool stage. This is done to assist teams and spectators with their planning by giving them greater certainty. On this basis, the ICC has allocated quarter-final venues to the next two highest ranked teams from Pool A.”
