Just weeks after their fiery senior team face-off in the Asia Cup 2025, India and Pakistan are set to collide again — this time in the ACC Asia Cup Rising Stars, a rebranded version of the Emerging Teams tournament. The match, scheduled for November 16, carries more than just cricketing stakes. With India still awaiting the official handover of their Asia Cup trophy, tensions between the boards have spilled into the spotlight, adding extra heat to an already intense rivalry.

On the field, both sides will field their ‘A’ teams, but the pressure and pride will be anything but second-tier. Pakistan A, buoyed by home conditions and a strong domestic core, will look to assert dominance. India A, despite a modest record in this tournament, will be keen to make a statement — especially with the trophy row still unresolved.

So, with off-field drama brewing and on-field firepower ready to ignite, who do you think will rise to the occasion?
 
Pak A for sure.ind will simply send their younger players(u 23) to test them out but pak will send Jahanad,Tayyab , Harris , Kg etc to win the prestigious trophy. Later haris will argue its the best team supposed to win .As always , India will gain one or 2 players from the tournament while other teams ran away with trophy.one can take examples of abhishek, tilak, sai etc players in earlier tournaments.
 
Agree with vikram.

Both teams have different focus and goals. And while india will give youngsters a chance to develop learn and fail.
Pakistan will be sending in their best guys, no matter if they are for the future or not
 
These are rising tournament which is for Next generation talent to showcase their abilities so result hardly matter. :kp

All the Pacers are from bcci pacers contract pool.All the batsmen are budding ones in ipl.Jitesh choice does not make sense but he played very few matches . Jurel is groomed for next wk slot.
 
Ahmed Daniyal and Muhammed Faiq should not be in the squad for pakistan.

India A have multiple players over the age of 23 who are in the squad.

It seems a mix on this time .even cricinfo pointed out india deviated from its regular style of u23 selection as per the changes. Am guessing that's why cup name changed from emerging to raising stars.

This team looks too batting heavy with a big T20 focus. I don’t really see any outstanding bowling talent here.

yeah but I think you also have a 14 year old in the squad.
 
In a weird way captaincy plays a role ad these teams are randomly assembled teams. Captain has to get them to gel with each other along with coach

Jitesh was the captain in the last one as well I think. Abhishek also didn't perform that well from what I recall.
 
Not sure why both the teams needed to meet again. Couldn't they have been in different groups?

Because icc/acc doesn't earn revenue from india-sri lanka or sri lanka-pakistan or sri lanka-bangladesh or sri lanka-afghanistan
 
is there an age limit or any one can be classified as a rising star? for eg Jitesh is surely into his 30's....

am more intrested in knowing about the india rising start pace bowlers in the squad...anyone have any input?

It was sad to see Kamlesh Nagarkoti and Shivam Mavi not being able to represent India for any reasons - I remember Ian Bishop seemed genuinely excised by them in the U-19 World Cup back then.
Then there was another kid who went to Australia with the team in 2019, but I don’t remember if he was indeed Anshul Kamboj - I don’t remember if he got a game there. He did play a Test in England a few months ago if I recall.

Don’t we have any good upcoming fast bowlers?

yes, i think mavi has got a few odi or t20 here and there. but both got injured, my cousin actually met shivam mavi in banglore as he was part of the NCA rehab centre. But from there both appear to have gone downhill..

Secondly the guy you are 'probably' thinking off is Kartik Tyagi? he was quick then, but i think he had a hip/thigh injury and i think he also is somewhat sidelined.

I feel indian cricket setup is doing itself a massive disservice by letting go of an absolute diamond pace bowling knowledgable coach like Bharat Arun sir. This guy alone has changed the face of indian bowling, look at how he impacted Ishant, Umesh, Shami, bhuvi etc...

At least in thr u 19 setups, he should be involved.

Thank you, Kartik Tyagi it was. You’re also right about Bharat Arun, he was a great coach for our bowlers. I hope we can unearth a few good bowlers soon, not sure how long Bumrah will last. Plus, these days teams seem to look to play him out and wait for other bowlers to cash in.
 
Mavi and Nagarkoti got too much expectations placed on them.

It's not in India's interest to get bowlers in before they crossed 23-24 years of age.

So many injuries world over because young pace bowlers got the added workload leading to stress fractures.

If I can take a football equivalent, it's like an ansu fati for Barcelona. Overworked and entirely ruined now.

Well if a guy wants to really do well in india colours, there are some 'tournaments' that they can choose not to play...and prioritize playing for the nation instead of franchisees .....that way they can ensure longevity....As far as Jassi Bumrah is concerned, he was good in the Eng tests, if i am not mistaken had two fiver in the two tests he played......he was wasted in this Aus tour and now we need him for the Saf tests....i hope he is not picked to play in the last t20 in brisbane and heads straight back home ....like kuldeep.

am hiopeful about Gurnoor Brar, dude got some wickets in the India A game recently, i think he is a 140kmph or thereabouts bowler

I think there are some other tours happening by the u19 , u23 , indian A teams at the same time as well. Not to mention the domestic first class season.

The bcci probably has had to figure out those aspects as well before deciding who could be called in.

2-3 noted names thrown in to ensure enough people tune in to those matches
 
Actually the reverse case in football where the player really ought to prioritise playing for the club more because club matches go on throughout the year and the club spends millions on you w.r.t salary, training etc.

Only for some international coach to completely disregard the club requests and over work the players to some long term injury.

So many examples of promising footballers who international coaches who have killed. Not sure if it's a forum aware of club and international football so will refrain

Valid point.

But fact also is how do you get better? do you get better by no games, doing gym work? I remember Kapil in an interview said he used to always be playing and he got better and stronger by bowling more number of overs.

Same with guys like Wasim, Imrak Khan - these guys if not playing for nation, used to play their domestics or even in county.

I feel BCCI should prioritize playing for Ranji sides as well. The real elephant inthe room is IPL - i know this is not the thread and my opinion might be highly unpopular but i feel IPL is 35 matches, 25 days and 2 teams too long. Secondly, its played in peak summer in april, may when its 36-40 deg even in evenings and max chances of burnouts, injuries, dehydration etc.

i just am getting the vibe from the indian setup, especially after Bharat Arun has gone, that our management and powers that be are happy with allrounders, and bits and pieces players instead of real core pace bowlers.
I do not just see them making the effort that they did in say from 2015-2021 to focus on pace bowlers, to cultivate a pace mindset and encourage.
Secondly, i do not see the pitches in india as any way encouraging pace bowling. The sad part is its not that even if we wanted we cannot. Case in point is the india vs aus pitch in Dharmshala test 2017 was a pacy bouncy wicket and i remember Matthew wade taking them around his ears even on the 3rd day. the india vs Srilanka seires played in sl in 2015 had probably the best pitches i have seen inthe subcontinent for a series. all three pitches aided pace onthe first day, batting for 2.5 days and spin for 1.5 days and hence we got to see excitign cricket.

If we create bouncy wickets, we will also breed good slipsmen and good close in fielders. But sadly the gadzillion guzzling BCCI are not interested in improving our pitches.

Different points but I will address to the best of my ability. I'm not a fan of IPL , I acknowledge that it has given india good cricketers though. The likes of Ashwin , Bumrah in bowling alone. The benefits vs losses I do think tend to lean towards the loss phase more , if IPL franchises restrict their senior players and manage their game time better , it would be ideal.

As far as getting better goes. I believe that Wasim makes it a point to continuously emphasise , the number of overs that bowlers bowl in domestic cricket matters when you get your muscle memory etc and the bowling muscles working in tandem. That can only be done with more long format bowling.

There needs to be a balance with this. Bcci I feel tries to address this (not enough) by refusing its active players permission to play in foreign leagues. Although there will be ulterior motives at play there as well.

I definitely think playing County cricket will help our lot tremendously. Our good players from yesteryears regularly played in county cricket- Gavaskar, Kapil, Shastri, Vengsarkar, even Tendulkar did for a little bit, Dravid, Ganguly, Zaheer, Azhar … over 40 of them did, and it showed in their performances in England.
 
Momentum is with India.

Onus is on Pakistan to get a few wins against us to bring the rivalry back on track. Without Pakistani wins, this matchup is losing its value. Balance is necessary.
 
Pakistan strength should be Arafat Minhas and Mubasir Khan.

Pakistan weakness is their fast bowling.

@RyanRyan10 You said in another thread that Pakistan is going to win the tournament, but do you see this Indian team? This team can beat most senior international teams, let alone Pakistan.

India a team will eat alive your favourite team on 16 November.

I always see India not do well here which is fine considering team PCT sends and we send, if PCT starts losing this one, then the gap will be really big.

Is this a T20 tornament. Almost every one of them in this list is kown for T20 not ODI. Vaibahav is a bit of an exception who plays yoth tests as well. others are mostly T20s. This team makes no sense.

I think they have upgraded prabhsimran singh. Fair call. I am more keen on pace unit. Gurapneet singh played just one IPL game i think.

[4 sixes in a over]* the over that comes to my mind when they talk about Gurjapneet. Hope he has evolved. Pandya made mince meat out of him.

Pakistan Shaheens held a training session at the Oval Ground of the Hanif Mohammad High Performance Centre in Karachi.
Pakistan Shaheens will depart from Karachi for Doha tomorrow morning to participate in the Rising Stars Asia Cup.
Pakistan Shaheens have been placed in Group B of the eight-nation T20 tournament.
Led by Muhammad Irfan Khan, Pakistan Shaheens will play their first match against Oman on November 14.
 
India don't have many well known names in their squad for this tournament but Pakistan do have many players in their squad with international experience. I think Pakistan will win this one.

Maybe you don't watch so not aware about These mentioned players. India is winning this match with ease.

This indian team can beat most of the international team let alone pakistan.

Cricket is a team game at the end of the day. How you gel as a unit with role clarity will determine the performance as a team. Picking good players from different domestic teams assembling a team won't guarantee success. We have seen that in IPL. A guy who does very well for one franchisee fails badly with another franchisee due to lack of role clarity. That is where coach comes in.
