You are the same person who hypes up Mushfiqur Rahim even though he was a complete waste of space in the same period, but you discount Younis Khan who later scored 10k Test runs, is a marathon batsman and has scored 100s all over the world. Just watch that double ton he scored against England at the Oval in the twilight of his career. That was no easy feat, YK also scored bulks of Runs against India, be it in Pakistan or India. YK would be a behemoth against any attack in Pakistan, he may have the odd failure but he would certainly make it up with a double ton in the following innings, this is no fantasy either.
I find your comments about Inzimam insulting. The man has scored good centuries in his career, check the Australian cricket boards Instagram/Twitter account releasing footage of his 119 in Australia against McGrath and Warne. Also the hundreds he scored against Kumble, Muralitharan and Vettori are not exactly weak hundreds no matter where they are.
I clearly mentioned the Babar Azam who plays in Pakistan. For me, he would only get out in Pakistan if he just gets so bored and plays a silly shot, so I slot him into my All time XI regardless of Asad Shafiq, Saleem Malik, Azhar Ali having already established themselves much more than he did.
I don’t hype Mushfiq as some legendary batsman. I only hype him as better than any Pakistani batsmen at the moment excluding Babar.
I will tell what hyping looks like - making statements that Babar would only get out in Pakistan if he gets bored etc.
That is what you call hyping of absurd proportions. Babar has not done anything yet in his Test career to be considered for Pakistan’s all-time Test XI, and you are confidently picking him against the all time world XI.
I don’t know whether I should laugh or cry. Forget about mediocrities like Azhar and Shafiq. The following Pakistani batsmen are ahead of Babar in Test cricket for now:
Miandad
Inzamam
Yousuf
Younis
Saeed Anwar
Saleem Malik
Hanif
Majid
Zaheer
Mushtaq Mohammad
Babar couldn’t buy a run in Test cricket until 2018-19, and now suddenly he is not only a lock-in for your all time Pakistan Test XI, you actually think that he will only get out against the greatest bowlers of all time if he gets bored.
As I say these days, since Babar is the only good thing about Pakistan cricket these days, our fans act as if he has been sent from the heavens.
In any proper cricket country, Babar right now would just be an excellent young player, because that is all he is at this point. Unfortunately, our standards have become ridiculously low.
Younis, Inzamam and Yousuf were all world class players but not ATGs. They are in the category of batsmen like Clarke, Amla, Chanderpaul etc. Excellent batsmen but a grade below the likes of Tendulkar, Viv, Kohli, Ponting, Lara etc.
Younis, along with Mahela, is arguably the weakest batsman in the 10k club, and Inzamam played some fabulous knocks but it was abundantly clear that he was not of the same caliber as the leading batsmen of his era - Tendulkar, Lara and Ponting.
Similarly, Yousuf was a great player, better than Younis in my view, but a cut below ATG batsmen.
For the record, I do believe that Babar has all the qualities to become Pakistan’s greatest batsman, but it is far too early to talk about him meriting a place in the all-time Pakistan Test XI, and that too against the all-time world XI.
