Just curious to see what Indian PPers value more.

Another shot at an international title :tb

or

a domestic tournament.

Given recent heartbreak, I imagine this will be quite close :amir

I hate the T20 format, whether it be IPL or international T20 matches. But if you press me to pick one, it would be the World T20.

IPL is better than international cricket so we choose IPL any day

World T20 though I know it will be another semi or final choke.

World t20 any day of the week.

90% of indian posters will agree, its bcci who prefers ipl not indian fans.

Most of the indians are fans of true cricket. How can someone pick domestic over international ever? I would never pick PSL over Wt20.

Bro, no sane fan would. International cricket over any league cricket in the world.

Yeah, but trust me you will find some saying here they would prefer IPL over Wt20 just out of spite and superiority complex.

WT20 over IPL. However, WT20 shouldn’t take place pretty much every year either or else it lose it shine and will get boring.

But this year I don’t think neither IPL or WT20 should take place.

Of course T20 World Cup

For most Indian fans IPL is basically timepass. Its like annual tv series like Big Boss & Roadies.

Definitely the world cup bro. Same with i would say 99.9999% of the Indian fans.

IPL is cool but we have one every year.

WT20 Over IPL but WT20 should not happen more than once in four years. It loses its value.

They would say world t20 because it is a serious tournament. IPL is for fun and to party with cricket as an added bonus.

Cricket is still a game followed under Country banner - most fans of every major T20 league's country will prefer T20I WC over any PL or SL. But, IPL is fun also and the quality of cricket is high. Another factor is in IPL, more or less on papers every team is equal (same for most draft systems), hence every team starts with almost equal chances of making the play-offs, it's on game performance that eventually filters the top 4. Still, no comparison with the appeal of International cricket. Even during it's peak years of relative popularity (1895-1912), English County cricket was never even remotely close to the appeal of an Ashes, but County was more popular than a Test series with South Africa.

It would have been opposite for soccer in Europe - World Cup will be behind in priority over EPL, La Liga, Seria A, Bundes Liga, Liege 1, Eredevise ..... I think, it might be only in Germany & France that the poll could be close, but in England, Spain, Italy......pools should be close but in favor of league. In fact in Spain, it's opposite - their fans prioritize the two Clubs over National team; one main reason Spain has been the biggest under achievers in soccer history. Also, same in Netherlands as well - Ajax, Feyenoord, PSV over the Orange, hence they are also under achievers.

Most Indians on PP are pretty serious cricket fans, if you ask this question to casual fans the answer might be different. Many of my relatives and friends prefer IPL over the ICC WC, when you look at our population and size/growth of middle class, that is a huge number which gives more importance to IPL. That change might soon start getting reflected in BCCI's plans, sad reality and that is how the world functions.

This is true. Most Indians find IPL fun & entertaining. High quality cricket at prime time. Perfect timepass once u return home from office & put on tv

But u dont have actual fan loyalty & passion. In many venues you will find the home fans cheering even when opposition team is hitting fours & sixes. Unlike T20 WC where there wud be pin drop silence if Indian wicket falls or opposition wins

you just disrespected the hell outta IPL :O
BCCI be like :chacha

Its not disrespect. Thats wat IPL is for most casual fans. Lots of fun & entertainment. Just attend a IPL game. Loud music by DJ , cheerleaders & ofcourse good cricket & often tight games.

But no real fan attachment. Very few Delhi guys feel sad if Delhi Capitals lose game. Same for other teams. Only CSK has bit of cult following.

World T20 > IPL
Closed Door IPL > Closed Door WT20

I dont think an ICC event behind closed door is a good idea. Its better to wait for a suitable time when situation improves to host it.

IPL on the other hand is a league cricket and can be hosted behind closed doors for a year.

Man if you compare anything to the garbage shows you mentioned above than that's disrespectful let alone a quality cricket tournament 😁

Interesting views

I disagree with you but I have no legitimate reason to tbh 😁
I don't know maybe international cricket in any way is better than league cricket bit that's just my bias I guess

Even most of the casuals will prefer ICC WT20. Casuals actually prefer T20 format. So they will probably watch IPL over ODI world cup (apart from big matches for India which get highest ratings).

Cricket is still a country based sport, unlike football or basketball. It will take couple of decades for it to turn a franchise sport.

It depends on the format. Even the most hardcore pakistani fans will rather watch PSL than Pakistan vs Zimbabwe in UAE crawling at 2 RPO. The casuals will probably tune if in the last few hours the match gets interesting.

I have said this exact thing so many times here already but it seems supporting your country team over pyjama teams is a crime for some. Most of these fans don't even know what a league really is. Have you seen any football league that ends within 2 months? Or any league where players are bought like cattles? :inti

It will be a shameful day for Cricket if there are any cricket leagues that are more important to fans than International cricket.

Thank god, we are not there yet.

The problem with IPL haters is they think IPL is some devious scheme by BCCI just to mint money

At the end of the day IPL exists bcoz its loved by the fans & tv audiences & is a made-for-tv product. The cricket is top notch & games pretty close & entertaining

Whatever floats your boat mate. IPL is only watched and enjoyed by Indians in India, and Indians abroad. There are a lot of them otherwise I doubt 90% of the fans around the globe (non-indian) care much about it.

Well India's tv market is enough to sustain IPL. Thats important. Its ur home market that counts most

Do you think PSL wud exist if pakistani public had no interest in it

IPL stands for Indian Premier league which is designed to cater Indian people. IPL provides the masses a perfect entertainment for family and friends. It’s like fiesta during the IPL months. IPL governing council don’t really care if non-Indian watches IPL or not, they already have billion plus fans at home.
Infact, IPL have no plan on tapping on foreign markets as Indian market is sufficient.

IPL provides money, jobs, investment, and cycle for many Indian business and people. It makes more sense to have IPL for India provided Covid crisis is over.
