KARACHI: Indian troops fired at a United Nations vehicle on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC) as they violated the ceasefire without any provocation on Friday, the military’s media wing said in a statement, adding that the UN military observers on board the vehicle luckily remained unhurt.

“At 1045 hrs, on 18 Dec 20, Indian army resorted to unprovoked fire in Chirikot Sector of [the] LoC. [The] Indian troops deliberately targeted a United Nations vehicle with 2 military observers on board,” the ISPR said.

The UN military observers were en route to Polas village in Chirikot sector to interact with villagers affected by unabated ceasefire violations (CFV) by India, it added.

“It must be noted that the UN vehicles are clearly recognizable even from long distances due to their distinct make and type and clearly visible markings,” the ISPR said.

The vehicle was damaged in the Indian fire, but the two UN military observers travelling in it luckily remained unharmed. They were safely rescued and evacuated by Pakistan Army to Rawalakot.

“Such illegal and unlawful acts, against all established international norms, signify mal-intent of [the] Indian army to target not only innocent civilians residing along the Line of Control but UN peacekeepers as well,” the military said.

The United Nations has confirmed that a vehicle of the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) was hit by an “unidentified object” near Rawalakot and that it was investigating the matter.

“The Mission is currently investigating the incident,” Deputy Spokesman Farhan Haq said in response to a question from APP at the regular briefing in New York.

Haq said that the the incident occurred when UNMOGIP observers were conducting routine monitoring activities near Rawalakot.

“UNMOGIP personnel and the driver were not harmed but the vehicle sustained some damage,” the spokesman said.

The Indian Army, a day earlier, resorted to unprovoked aggression at the Line of Control (LoC) by targeting a United Nations Military Observers vehicle, according to the Inter-Services Public Relation (ISPR).

The ISPR said that two military observers were on-board the vehicle which was damaged in the attack. Both observers were rescued and safely evacuated to Rawalakot.

The UN vehicle, according to the military's media wing, was on its way to meet Indian ceasefire violations' victims at the Polas Village in the Chirikot sector.

Slamming India for targeting innocent civilians and UN peacekeepers across the border, Pakistan condemned the Indian Army for its naked aggression.

"It must be noted that The UN vehicles are clearly recognisable even from long distances due to their distinct make and type and clearly visible markings," said the ISPR.

"Such illegal and unlawful acts, against all established international norms, signify mal-intent of Indian Army to target not only innocent civilians residing along the Line of Control but UN Peace Keepers as well," it added.

Pakistan Army said it stands in solidarity with UNMOGIP officials and appreciates "the selfless services rendered by all members of UNMOGIP in discharge of their UN mandated duties."

So now, where are all the Indian posters including joshila who was saying that this is fake news by Pakistan? UN just confirmed it!

Can the hindutva nation of India stoop to this low? Yea they just did. Indian army has been targeting civilians for years now and now they didn’t even spare UN vehicle.

UN is pretty spineless so they likely won’t do anything but it’s good that they have at least confirmed the attack. Indian soldiers probably mistook the UN vehicle for a school bus and shot at it.

UN hasn't confirmed it. They confirmed "matter is under investigation" (to find the origin)

Official denial from India. Not surprising though ,even if they did it it’s not like they would come out and confess lol.

Regardless of whether they did it or not, one must deem a vehicle more valuable than a civilian life to call this a new low. How can hitting a vehicle be a new low compared to killing a civilian?

UN mentioned nothing about India. If you disagree, kindly quote the statement from the post.

When did I say they mentioned India? The poster asked me if UN has said anything and I directed him to the statement lol.

True Indian forces have even targeted school buses in the past so this definitely wouldn’t be a new low even if they did it. Poor title from the Tribune.

Not just the news article, but even the posters who are calling it a new low are showing how little they value human life, or how highly they regard the indian troops.

lol.. Pakistanis got no game, seriously, at least come up with something better than labeling 'UN' on an SUV and they probably fired it themselves to say India did it. I will believe it when UN officially comes out and confirms Indian involvement. Again no wonder no one takes Pakistan seriously

Did I say UN said it was India? Your question was where did UN mention India and like I told you before I never claimed UN said it was India.

The earlier post you are quoting is my personal opinion, I think it’s pretty logical to think that India is involved but I never claimed to be speaking for the UN .I am not sure if you are confused or trying to confuse me lol.

Hmm maybe you are right, targeting a UN vehicle seems a bit too bold and brazen . Indian troops are likely more comfortable attacking little kids in a school bus. This UN suv thing may be beyond their reach.

Personal opinions are biased. Will you agree with this statement?

Oh funny, I heard a similar sentiment in Indian media about Pakistani soldiers :))

Anyway, good to see you are coming around as you had no choice but to because UN is not linking this poor 'acting' job by Pakistan to India.. Come up with something more convincing next time, atleast put some effort into it...

when india and Pakistan do shelling, houses are blown apart. But In this case a small bullet hole in the car . Interesting 🤔

Pakistan 'categorically rejects' India's denial to accept responsibility for UNMOGIP attack

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has "categorically reject(ed)" India's denial to take responsibility for last week's attack on the UN military observers' vehicle near the Line of Control (LoC), the Foreign Office said Monday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had said Friday the Indian Army had resorted to unprovoked aggression by targeting the vehicle of the United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) that was carrying two personnel — both of whom were rescued and safely evacuated.

Pakistan had also penned a letter Sunday to the United Nations about India's "coercive and reckless ploy" to hinder the UNMOGIP's work, urging the global body to call upon New Delhi to observe the 2003 ceasefire understanding.

In the statement issued in the evening today, the FO said Pakistan "categorically rejects the denial by the Indian Ministry of External Affairs [MEA] to accept responsibility for targeting the observers of United Nations Military Observers Group in India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) by the Indian occupation forces."

"The deliberate targeting of a UN vehicle engaged in discharging the mandate of the UN Security Council (UNSC) constitutes a grave violation of India’s obligations, under the UNSC Resolutions and the UN Charter, which includes the obligation to ensure the safety and security of the UNMOGIP Observers," the statement added.

The Foreign Office underscored Pakistan's condemnation of India's attack on the UNMOGIP Observers and their vehicle and reiterated its calls upon "India to respect the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding and maintain peace along the Line of Control and the Working Boundary".

"The Indian side is also urged to allow UNMOGIP to play its mandated role as per UNSC Resolutions," it added.

UN is investigating as confirmed by UN. Indians wont see this on RSStv for obvioius reasons.

Its disgusting attacking a UN vehicle but at least not as bad as rape, torture and murder of oppressed people.

Substantial damage dealt to Indian Army after another LoC ceasefire violation: ISPR

The Pakistan Army effectively responded to Indian troops after another ceasefire violation in Satwal Sector along the Line of Control, the Inter Services Public Relations said on Wednesday.

Pakistan Army caused "substantial damage to Indian troops in men and material", the military's media wing said.

During an exchange of fire with the Indian army, a 22 year old valiant soldier, Sepoy Mukhtiar was martyred, ISPR added.

The development comes less than a week after Indian troops had targeted a United Nations Military Observers (UNMOs) vehicle along the LoC.

The UN vehicle, according ISPR, was on its way to meet Indian ceasefire violations' victims at the Polas Village in the Chirikot sector along the LoC.

The attack resulted in no injuries but damaged the vehicle the observers were travelling in.

That same day Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, during a press conference in Abu Dhabi, warned the world that New Delhi plans to conduct a surgical strike against Pakistan.

Qureshi, during the presser, said he had received information "through our intelligence agencies" that India is preparing to launch a surgical strike against Pakistan and fanning a new wave of terrorism.

Army chief visits LoC
Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited forward troops deployed along LoC on Tuesday.

The army chief was briefed about the area's latest situation, including Indian ceasefire violations through which it deliberately targets innocent civilians along and the recent targeting of UNMOGIP vehicles.

"Appreciating operational preparedness and high morale of troops, [Gen Bajwa] lauded officers and men for continued vigilance and professionalism," the statement said.

The army chief said that Indian provocations particularly, the recent targeting of UNMOGIP vehicles are a threat to regional peace and stability.

He said that the Indian Army shall always get a befitting response to any misadventure or aggression.

"The Pakistan Army shall take measures to protect innocent civilians along the LoC and defend the honour, dignity and territorial integrity of the motherland at all costs," the army chief said.

PM Imran warns of befitting response to recklessness

Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that if India is "reckless enough" to conduct a false flag operation against Pakistan, it will be faced with a "strong national Pakistani resolve" and will be given a befitting response.

"I am making [it] absolutely clear to the [international] community that if India was to be reckless enough to conduct a false flag operation against Pakistan, it would confront a strong national Pakistani resolve and be given a befitting response at all levels of the threat. Make no mistake," he stated on Twitter.

PM Imran Khan said that India's deliberate firing on the vehicle of the UN Military Observer Group shows the state's "total disregard for all international norms of acceptable state behaviour and respect for the international law" .

India will get befitting response if reckless enough to conduct false flag operation: PM Imran Khan

The premier said that India has committed 3,000 ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary in 2020 alone, killing more than 276 Pakistani civilians, including 92 women and 68 children.

Pakistan strongly condemns India's rogue behaviour, he said.

No side is going to believe the other side. You grow up getting fed with certain types of news about the other country so your brain is trained to shun anything that is different.

Normal day at the office for these "creatures" unfortunately

Looked at the video of a bunch of indian paramilitary guys

Excited about getting posted in Kashmir because of the "white kashmiri women" and discussing descriptions (sexual in nature) of Kashmiri women (also talked about "fun" people who previously served in Kashmir had)

Surely with those faces they weren't having or looking forward to consensual relations with kashmiri women...

weren't you the guys who killed trees and claimed to have killed 300 jihadis? or the other "deep" surgical strike drama

Kashmir: Indian Army Convoys Bear 'blue' Flags Instead Of 'red' For People-friendly Look

In Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), in the endeavour of making Indian cantonments and military convoys more population friendly, the Indian Army has changed the red flags on its convoy to colour blue. Additionally, the walls on the Indian Army cantonments are proposed to have pictures of young achievers of Kashmir.

Speaking to the media, Lieutenant Colonel Q Khan said, "the flags on the military convoys moving with troops from different locations in and out of Kashmir valley have been changed to blue from red while the walls on the cantonments are proposed to have the pictures of young achievers from Kashmir."

Only Whistles, No More Lathis.
Further, in this attempt to make the Indian Army - a population friendly unit, the officer added that the troops carrying lathis (a heavy stick often of bamboo bound or iron used in India) have also been asked to only use whistles in order to stop vehicles. The officer mentioned Army vehicles too.

He said, "The messages and pictures on vehicles are of the scenic places of Kashmir." He ascertained that the Indian Army troops travelling in these convoys have been asked to bahave more politely with the people during stopovers.

Article 370 of the Indian Constitution acknowledged the special status of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. This special status was in regard to its autonomy and ability to formulate laws for residents of the State. The Centre repealed Article 370 in 2019. This abrogation resulted in the bifurcation of the State in two Union Territories, namely- Jammu - Kashmir and Ladakh. It will not be incorrect to say that the Central Government, since rescinding its special status, has made a constant effort and does make attempts to bolster and provide development and harmony in the region.
