I would bat Dhoni at no.8 after Pandya. Pant should be inducted asap. Windies are a minnow and this is an ideal opportunity to test Pant.

Yuvraj must go. Time to include Iyer/Pandey or Samson and give them a proper run.

The present Indian ODI team is not as strong as its hyped or generally perceived to be. Get two top order wickets including Kohli in the first 10 overs and you have a great chance to knock them out. While Kohli's strategy of 5 bats and 5 bowlers worked initially, with Dhoni's form and Jadeja's decline, they need to perhaps go back to 6 batsmen and 4 bowlers.

They need to get rid of Yuvraj asap and bring in Pant (or Panday or Rahul when they get back to full fitness). Also don't see Jadhav as being a long term solution in a 5/5 setup. He could be useful at 6 as a bits and pieces players but not in the current setup.

Jadeja's selection also needs to be reviewed. Might be better to give Patel another chance or even bring in Krunal Pandya. As for Hardik, he needs to develop his batting further if India want to play him as a genuine allrounder at 7. Currently his game is too one-dimensional to be of value in matches where he is needed to preserve his wicket.

The issue is Dhoni batting at No.5. He is not a batsman anymore. He is a tailender. Should bat at No.8. You need dynamic batsmen to come at No.5 and No.6. Someone who does not take 10 overs before hitting big shots.

Indian team is flawed. Yuvraj/MSD are a disaster in middle order. Same with Karthik. Total waste of space. Kedar Jadav is looking poorer by the day.

Pant/Iyer/Pandey/Rahul should come in asap for the mentioned players above. These guys should be persisted with and given a long rope to flourish. Even if 2 of them come off, India will be in a great position for 2019.

You got to understand that in Indian cricket, icons don't retire gracefully.. their carcasses have to be dragged out after they have already stunk up the joint for years after passing their sell by date. Any team valuing merit and competence would have kicked players like Dhoni, Yuvraj and blacklisted serial failures like Karthick years back.

I think it's the turning point where Jadeja (and ashwin to an extent) will be slowly forced out now in LOI. India will probably start playing three pacers, one spin bowler (probably going to be Kuldeep, could play Ashwin instead if he regains form). And a batsman at 7, Pandya or Yadhav i imagine.

Think India will go back to the team composition in 2011, with 7 batsmen and 3 pacers. With Pandeya's bowling there, it kind of allows them to do so.

I feel Pant is a better keeper than Samson.

Samson does not keep even in IPL. Pant kept well for Delhi Daredevils in all the matches I saw.

These hypothetical teams are all useless. Our selectors will keep selecting has beens. The only old player I miss is Raina.
