An amusement park is a place where people get amused.
However in Pakpassion you can generally find amusing people and can have a good idea of their thought process.
A certain TTF in our side was scoring tons of runs in domestics. The certain TTF was an awful wicketkeeper and when he was gone 99 percent of Pakistan were saying good riddance.
Of course his wicketkeeping was shoddy. But his batting wasn't exemplary either.
He had a good cut shot and was stylish when he played it, but too often he was found wanting in internationals.
When he was thrown out of the team, he averaged 26. 3 points higher than the national icon Shahid Afridi, who in his defense was at least bowling in ODI. A bowling average of over 35 managed to keep Afridi in the team for 20 odd years.
Now certain posters are painting a rosy picture.
They point towards alternatives like Shehzad, Sami, Shahzaib , Fakhar , Azhar and then somehow conjure the magical name Kamran out of the picture.
What are they expecting?
That Kamran has mastered the cut shot? Or they are expecting that the international average of 26 , the same as Tatenda Taibu of Zimbabwe will sky rocket once he is made a part of the international team as an opener.
For Umar Akmal, the defense always has been international performances have more value than domestics.
For Kamran domestic performances seem his gateway to international team?
When will this madness end?
At the very most Shehzad and Kamran offer equal value. One scores too slowly for his knocks to be useful. The other scores less than 25 runs while opening the innings.
Yet one is somehow the dynamic player we need and the other is useless.
Amusing.
Tragic at the same time.
Let's hope this Kamran again can offer us 20 odd runs in a game off 15 balls so Pakistan fans can go into raptures again.
I am ready for his selection for fans who have selective amnesia to remember the vividness of it all again.
Let the games begin.
