Salaam / hello everyone,

I hope everyone is keeping well in these difficult times.

I just wanted to know when are flights expected to resume to Pakistan. With the uncertainty of the virus, I realise that it is a very difficult time for us all but more so for world leaders who have to make strong decisions. I was meant to fly out to Pakistan in early April but ofcourse the Pakistani airspace was closed and rightly so.

Does anybody have the slightest clue/news of when we should expect travel to resume to Pakistan from the UK. I am not frustrated with the Pakistani governments policy as I understand the difficulties that they face. However, I need to know for trip planning purposes. And if the flights do open, is there an expectation that all passengers will be tested? I would happily fund my own test. Ofcourse, I may be asking a question which has no answers at the moment :)

Today i saw on ARY news that the govt is planning to resume the domestic flights soon. However any international flights depend on both departing and destination countries. So let’s see what Borris is gonna announce abt return to normality.

A lot of countries may be reluctant to allow UK residents due to the inept handling here.

Entry and travel restrictions

We understand that the Pakistani authorities have closed land borders with Afghanistan, India and Iran. Despite this, there have been limited border openings for repatriation. Those crossing into Pakistan may have to comply with coronavirus testing and quarantine measures.
Screening and quarantine measures for international air arrivals

International air passengers travelling to Pakistan will be subject to thermal screening on arrival. The current Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) guidelines include measures to quarantine all passengers on arrival for 48 hours, either in a free facility arranged by the Government of Pakistan, or in a facility which the passenger will pay for. Airlines are responsible for recording which facility passengers prefer. No meet and greet will be permitted at the airport.

Passengers will be tested after 48 hours. Those testing positive will likely remain in quarantine or be moved to a hospital isolation facility, while those testing negative will be released with instructions to self-isolate for a period of time determined by relevant authorities. Please call us on 051 201 2000 in the event that you are moved to a quarantine facility. Before travelling, you should ensure that you have a form of payment for food and water during this quarantine and testing period.

Passengers on flights to Pakistan may also be required to follow special measures before boarding, and while on board the aircraft, including the wearing of a surgical mask. Reinforcement of screening and administrative measures at all sea ports has been announced.

Sounds good! As in, with the UK, we are advised not to fly but only for exception reasons.

I have read this before and I am happy to pay for my own hotel, my own test and in shallah leave the hotel with a negative result after a few days. As in, when I do come back to the Uk, I will have to self isolate. I don't have an issue with that as I am working from home and Alhamdulillah have a good set up.

I am planning to go Pakistan in August now. I would not want people to think that I am selfish as I will comply with all the set procedures and even pay up so I am not a burden on a poor country.

There is nothing to feel guilty about. You are going to Pakistan to see your family I assume, this is a human right imo and this lockdown is overdue now.

I would do the test here in the UK first, if you're negative book a flight so you can go straight home when you land.

I would do that if I could, I remember that for a brief moment in late March, the Pakistan govt had a requirement for international passengers to produce a corona test certificate before they board a flight to Pakistan. The issue with this was that due to demand, no company/ clinic in the UK was guaranteeing me a test result 24 hours before the flight.

I do wish to go to Pakistan to see my family and ofcourse it's my ancestoral home. I was meant to go for a while but unfortunately I was busy at work and then corona happen.

i was in the same boat and had my flights cancelled, however i dont think flights will resume now considering pakistani cases have just started to spike and lockdowns are over.

There's some special flights from the US that are charging around $4,000 one way which is insane. PIA is due to do 12 flights soon, but reports those will also be around $2,000.

Most airlines from the US expect to return to daily flights to Pakistan right around May 27.

With today's day and age, you can do video conferencing and meet your family over Whats app or Skype. Save your hard earned money.

Personally, I don't think they will open at the end of May as corona will be peaking in Pakistan then. I am just frustrated that at a global level, we are directionless to deal with corona.

I would say that its much safer to be in Pakistan then being in UK. My relatives are also stuck in Lahore at the moment but biding their time.

I was also planning to go this summer, but this corona has thrown those plans out of the window.

I'm hoping flights reopen in June.

If I book a ticket for August then it is expensive but early September is much cheaper. I aim to go in September:)

Cmon, you know i mean whats the price in this situation, as my dad came back from pakistan just over 2weeks ago - he came back due to the British Government were bringing back deemed vulnerable pakistani abroad - his ticket was only £550.

Now ive seen that video post over a week ago - where someone stated that PIA were charging 3000- dontknow if this is dollars / pounds

Statement from Civil Authority of Pakistan: Government of Pakistan has extended the suspension of domestic flights, as effected earlier, up to Thursday, May 29, 2020, 2359 PST.

My brother and family arrived back in UK recently - paid for their own flight with Qatar.

Ditch holidays for a year unless you have way too many holidays to spend 14 days in a hotel first before actually having a holiday.
