Inzamam-ul-Haq terms Multan's benching of main bowling attack vs Lahore as "not morally right"

Inzamam speaking about the Lahore v Multan game which resulted in Lahore qualifying for the semi-finals:

"Multan Sultans may well have done this as per their planning but, that's not morally right"

"On the result of this game depended the chances of the other side [entry in semi-finals] but Multan made this game a boring affair by benching their mainstream bowling attack"

"You may not feel that bad about it but if you were in such a situation where your ability to stay in the tournament depends on other sides performance and they bench their mainstream bowling attack for that game, then it would be unfair on you"

"Multan may have had their reasons but they made the final game of this stage of the tournament very boring"

"I am very disappointed about this and I have seen this many times that you [Multan] may have to pay for this decision in the future"

"One of the teams also did that in the 2019 World Cup and we saw what happened" [India?]

Lol, they were well within their rights to rest their main bowlers, the bowlers should be well rested and be in a better position to give their all for the big game.

Well within their rights. They earned the right to do so by placing themselves in a great position and I say this as a Quetta fan.

May be multan are playing more for Lahore than themselves, can’t see them beating Zalmi, Quetta would have been the easier bet.

Karachi Kings also did the same and its understandable as well. If teams wouldnt have given chances to their bench strength some ex cricketers would have criticized them for that too.

Why is it morally wrong lol.
They had qualified and were already table toppers. Their next priority was obviously their semifinal. For which they would want their top players rested and fresh.

And other teams should not be in a postion where they are relying on some other team to qualify. If they are, the sole blame is theirs to bear.

To think that this gut was CS for three years!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There is absolutely nothing wrong in it. Last WC, France played NINE reserves against Denmark once they were confirmed group winners while The Dens were still not sure. In Davis Cup, I have seen teams playing back-ups in reverse singles, if they are 3-0 up........ so on.

In fact, Multan is robbed here because now their odd is much harder to make the final - one bad day and they might miss out to PZ. As per the initial format, they could have lost to KK in first game and still had a chance to make the final by winning the 2nd eliminator (between LQ/PZ).

No wonder, PAK sent their possible best squad and played their key players even against ZIM reserves, even after unassailable 3-0 lead when this guy was CS.

Multan shouldn't have left out imran tahir
His energy enough would have uplifted the squad

Mushtaq ahmed seemed to be disheartened in the dug out especially when asad shafiq was run out

Think from a spectators point of view - Inzi is right. But then this is franchise cricket - its about winning and the MS management didnt want to risk their top bowlers in a non-consequential game.
