IPL 2026 - Discussion thread

Opening pairs of SRH, Punjab, RR are next level. Then we have KKR and CSK . CSK Sanju samson needs to find form.But Ruturaj never bats like this. MI and RCB don't bat like this either. DC on a good day may be.

Delhi opening combo is underrated. We haven't seen the best of those two yet

Very good player. Has worked on his game in the past couple of years, and can handle pressure. Walks into any white-ball middle-order in the world.
 
How long will CSK persist with Gaikwad as captain? He doesn't even look like he is cut out for this format. Now that Samson is there, they should make him captain too.
 
This match CSK vs DC, the Indians have failed badly, good batting from nissanka and stubbs, rahul, rizvi, patel, sgarma all failed miserbaly

im not trolling, i was following this game on my laptop on cricinfo as i was watching the psl = as both started at the same time.

I havent posted that every previous yr ipl has been boring = cuz thats a lie, but this yr has been BORING and i would say a lack of talent by many foreigners and indian players = overal its been poor, mainly due to thrs no contest between bat and ball and the pitches are very small

even @jnaveen1980 stated that the women psl grounds were bigger than this yr mens ipl, these so called par 220-240 grounds is bad for cricket.


I've tried to watch many games of this yr ipl, but honestly its been boring, i've even asked the indians and which player + players have actually played well consistantly = no one named me 1 player - and i dont expect a players to play great in eevry match.


IMO the big bash has been the best t20 league this yr to watch

In Asia cup Gill's strike rate was 151. your cheekay guy Sahibzada farhan strike rate was 116. India dropped Gill long back. But pakistan's "main batsman" is Farhan

no, ive told you, ive tried to watch some IPL mtches - generally the first 5 overs = but the ones ive watched have all Bored me to death - ive kept an eye on them via cricinfo - generally when the match has finished tcheck the score

ive not yet watched a whole ipl match = im watching the PSL

IPL needs to a lot better
 
I think Pandya is on a decline. Its not very evident yet and marginal but I am spotting it with my shrewd eyes. Atleast his peak is coming to an end.

Great servant for Indian cricket and will be sad to see him going down.
 
A striker like Romario Shepherd is coming after Jeetesh Sharma and only with 4 balls left.

India have some good selection headaches for their T20 team.

One thing's for sure though, with Rajat Patidar and Shreyas Iyer performing the way they have been performing, SKY's place becomes very difficult to justify.

Yeah he happened to be the captain when India won the World Cup, but honestly you could have put almost anyone in that position and India likely would have still won.
 
Iyer is probably the best candidate to lead India in white-ball. He has the right personality as a player and a leader. But the Indian cricket establishment is determined to make Shubman Gill the next poster boy of Indian cricket. Even when there is obviously someone better already there, who is more suited for captaincy.

Iyer is hurt by his lack of willingness to play red-ball, which has probably worked against him. But that doesn't mean he isn't one of the best white-ball cricketers that India have.

Gill for Tests.

Iyer for White ball.

I think BCCI will find a way to phase out SKY from T20is gradually but this should already have been done last year. The only reason SKY is in the team is solely because of the goodwill he has gathered for that catch in the 2024 final.

Yeah I think so too. It was a huge moment and one that will always be memorable but now they've got to come back to reality and see that he isn't the same player anymore, and hasn't been for a long time.

Gill should be given the long-rope in Tests because he is probably the best option there, and captaincy has improved his form, which can be a challenge with many players.
