IPL 2026 - Discussion thread

162 . 3

24 balls to go

KKR need damage control here , chasing 200 plus not going to be easy.

193 is the target for KKR , they need to chase this down , a loss here will shut them completely

He is way overrated in 20 20 , KKR could have purchased better domestic players with that money.
Far too often IPL teams select players based on how good they think they are, as opposed to how good they actually are. Green could be a great player for Australia one day but he is not there yet. Especially not in white-ball.

Almost all Australian players either had a torrid World Cup campaign or are dealing with injuries but Indian franchises are obsessed with Australian players and continue selecting them based on their reputation. Eventhough you could get better, fitter T20 cricketers who maybe don't come with the same reputation but will definitely have cheaper price-tag.

And then senile grandpas like Gavaskar cry about the Australian players not being fit. Yeah they're not fit because they prioritize test cricket, grandpa. When you play a 5 test home season on those hard Australian pitches, it is bound to have some impact on your body at 36 years of age. If you know that there were concerns about their fitness then the blame lies on you as a franchise for selecting them, not the player who cannot control being injured.

Iyer took kkr finals and was discarded next season and then he took Punjab in finals after ages.

Kkr let go the one of the best indian captain and white ball player for what? Rahane?

If this is true then he is one of the smartest cricketers in the world
BCCI ideally would want MI to rest him. But since he is their star bowler bought multiple crores he has to participate. He does just enough. Even at his worst he manages to be economical. It is the freelancers like Boult are struggling far worse

Freelancers like Boult are finished and don't have much to lose. Bumrah has alot to lose. Anyway its the smart thing to do and if I was in his position I would do the same thing.

Ipl is using a 40plus camera ai powered Hawkeye system for ball speed measurement, its extremely accurate

Not for Rahane, Shreyas & Starc were let go for Green & Venkatesh Iyer.

Venkatesh Iyer fopped last season with 23 crore & this year Green has flopped taking home 26 crore.

I am so disheartened about Rishab Pant, he is frequently getting injured (including the accident). I wished he (and even Bumrah) to have born during our great Test Team of late 90s - early 00s (Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin, Ganguly, Laxman, Kumble..) He would have given such a crucial balance & killer instinct to that team (probably we would have won lots of overseas test matches & home domination coming early). He seems to have lost it in the IPL/Corporate/Glamor World and the fast demands!

CSK HAS REGISTERED AN OFFICIAL COMPLAINT AGAINST CHINNASWAMY DJ. 🤣

📝CSK lodged a complaint to BCCI against the DJ of Chinnaswamy Stadium. 🏟️

According to CSK the choice of song ‘idli, dosa, chutney chutney’ was not in good taste. 😂

This reminds me of Pakistani team coach complaint about Dil Dil Pakistan songs not played by Dj during the ICC World Cup 2023 🤣🤣🤣

:klopp :kp

I think I just witnessed the best ever boundry relay catch. Shreyas Iyer had some Jordan esq hang time to get that ball back.

I was checking scorecards and saw that Kholi scored 50(40) or something in a team score of 240 LOL! I can only imagine if it was someone other than Kholi....his time is up. He is just statpadding in IPL now.
If this were a regular occurrence then it would be a problem. He’s been striking at nearly 160 this IPL average 57!

He was never a great t20 batter

Punjab Kings, RCB and Rajasthan Royals have looked like the best teams so far.

I would be surprised if they don't finish in the top 3.

What a night Green having... He should buy a lottery today.. struggles a lot, lot of inside edge pass close to stumps, catches dropped..

Happy 19th Birthday IPL.

Wow, closing in on two decades. I remember many saying this will not last long. How things have changed. Has become a huge league. Takes up close to 25% of the cricket calendar.

Gets it's own window. Pretty much no other cricket going on. Many players contracted and play in it. Huge international roster. Will only get bigger when expansion happens again.

Interesting part is, it has not reached it's full potential yet. Neither has it covered the whole Indian market. There is room for 4-6 more teams I would say.

Best part is that the free market is determining it's success. The way it should be.

Tuned in to watch kkr vs RR - watching IPL after ages....
Must say I am impressed with speeds bowled by Kartik Tyagi...highest was 146.6 kmph , avg wax around 144kmph...don't care if he is hit for 10 rpo in these hit & giggle pyjama leagues....I hope indian selectors are looking@ guys like him, Prince yadav, Ashok Sharma for red ball cricket...
Exciting to see a new line of young pacers coming through

Priyansh Arya is another opener who looks ready for international cricket. Unfortunately there is too much competition for the openers spot.

Zinta's team got 255 - same score in PSL game btw ... any chance the top 4 of LSG go crazy chasing this ?

Are you watching Priyansh Arya bat?

Four top class left arm openers for you to worry - Suryavanshi, Abhishek, Jaiswal and Arya

I am not going to watch these tullars. I dont even like watching Pakistani tullars like Agha and Farhan so why would I watch these no names. I tagged you in time pass, no guts to reply?

Sahibzada Farhan is one of your better bats and you are calling him tullar. Only shows how much cricket you understand.

Who is a non tullar batter for you? Only Rizwan?

:misbah

I remember Kartik Tyagi during 2020 U19 World Cup. He was quick, but not that quick.

Not sure what strength training he might have taken, but he has gained significant pace in this year's IPL.

Priyansh Arya is a talented batter. He is very similar to Abhishek in how fearless he is and how he just goes after the ball from the get go. Great example of someone who keeps it simple and reacts intuitively by relying on the 'see the ball, hit the ball' mantra. As competitive as the Indian T20 team is right now - especially the opening slots - he will be in the team sooner than later.

I believe he is also another guy who got trained by Yuvraj...in addition to Gill & Abhishek

Yuvraj training master class. Prabhsimran, Arya, Abhishek, Gill most recently Sanju and Pant.

I don't mind Punjab & RCB reaching finals once again, and Punjab winning their maiden title this time!

Finally you're back from the cave...
