IPL has done India more good than other comparable leagues for their countries - Why?

We all saw the match of India vs Australia. I just noticed they didnt feel any pressure. How Pandya played freely. How they tore apart Starc. How do they have such confidence?

Today is the proof how class apart IPL has been for india. There has been no situation for any indian which they havent experienced in IPL and they find pressure easy in international matches. Plus, the quality of players they regularly get in IPL has improved their new talent by miles.

A moment of reality check for us, as we compare each and everything with them. PSL hasnt done the same for us. BBL is same. Speaking of ourselves, our standards and quality of players have actually dropped since 2017. Can we at least acknowledge that? And do something about it?

How can Pakistan improve as a Cricket playing nation? Do you think its because of less international players in PSL? Can we improve with regional teams in domestic?

Or do you feel we will be again at this point in next world cup? Are we better than the last world cup? If not, why is that? I will be interested to know your thoughts, please.

It’s a bellter of a pitch, even the Afghans would have scored 300 on here . There is no pressure when you’re batting first with wickets in hand .

The only thing the IPL has helped him to make misogynist comments on talk shows .

You sure afghans wont have scored 400? May be you are under estimating them a bit? Their past scores have clearly spoken for themselves.

IPL is Limited Overs of the highest quality. It is actually better than bilateral T20s and ODIs and played with the higher intensity.

The other leagues are simply incomparable. IPL is lightyears ahead. A young Indian player who is a regular in IPL but hasn’t played for India yet has basically already played international cricket.

You don’t need IPL or T20 leagues for success in Test cricket, but they are very important for player development in Limited Overs. That is why England, for all their success in Limited Overs in the last 4 years, is investing in The Hundred which will serve its white ball cricket for years to come.

As far as Pakistan is concerned, the PSL is of poor quality but it is the best we have can hope for considering our situation.

We don’t have India’s money or their global image. We have to make do with what we have, which is not enough but is still something.

IPL is almost 11-12 years old which is much more number of years than any other league. It takes times for leagues to develop, rivalries to form and franchises becoming better at their player selections and overall everything becoming more professional and standardized.

PSL is just 4 years old which is youngest of any such leagues. More results will start to show with time. We had to induct some players pretty fast before they were fully developed like Shadab, Shaheen, Hasnaian and even Hasan to an extent because we really needed bit of young blood. On the other hand Kudleep, Bumrah, Pandya etc were given atleast 2,3 years of domestics and IPL before inducting them.

Ravindra Jadeja was one of the early products of just like some of ours from PSL and he was inducted pretty soon and that is why it took him much more time to be at ease at international level.

With core of Pak cricket team already set for coming years, all the young players in PSL with coming seasons will have much more time to to play FC cricket and PSL to develop. Umer Khan, Haris and Muhammad Musa are just couple of examples who were pretty impressive but as we already had decent players in the team, they werent fast tracked. 1, 2 FC seasons and PSL seasons they will be more polished products and the cycle with new players coming each year will continue. It was just the initial stages where we were really in need of young players that they were fast tracked.

As always, a very sensible reply. Do you think we should change our domestic for improvement? Or anything that can help PSL?

You sure afghans wont have scored 400? May be you are under estimating them a bit? Their past scores have clearly spoken for themselves.

Afghanistan can barely last 50 overs and they will score 300.

Thankfully he is on my ignore list.

We need to change everything. Not only domestic but also our rotten mentality. Also, cricket needs to return to Pakistan on a full scale ASAP, but that depends on the global image of the country, which continues to get worse and worse.

Ireland would have scored 250 minimum. Watch the sport and not be brainwashed by Bollywood and you’ll realise this is obvious.

Global image of Pakistan is getting worse and worse. LOL

Do you have a wrist left or are you up to antecubital fossa?

What do you think about the new proposed structure of six teams ?

What do you think about the new proposed structure of six teams ?

It is a good idea in theory, because less teams means that a lot of average players will be filtered out, and perhaps players like Rafatullah Mohmand and Shakeel Ansar will probably not get international caps.

However, departmental cricket is bread and butter for the domestic players, and getting rid of if will be no easy task. PCB should be prepared for opposition and protests from the players.

U have FULL buy in from the rest of the cricket world.
Fans players officials broadcasters

Lol. I will revisit this thread when the Indians have a bad day in the semis

It is a belter of a pitch, I said it was going to be a high scoring game after watching the first few overs of the game where Aussie pacers got zero swing or seam even with the new ball.

But IPL has obviously improved the game of Indian players, and probably other nationalities as well who get to play in it. It's like the Premier league, when you can put more money and resources into any sport it will attract the best players, and that means the locals get to sharpen their skills in a much more competitive environment.

One of the reasons the small minded Indians won't have Pakistani players in their teams, they are consumed by resentment of Pakistan and won't contemplate anything which could benefit Pakistan in any way, especially under this current regime.

So not having pakistanis in the ipl makes Indians small minded?

And why does that hurt a true Brit like yourself?

Didnt we score similar in our last game?

Not to forget the odi series before the world cup.

Two different formats . The IPL or even PSL are nowhere near the quality of international 50 over cricket.

Pakistani current players have never played IPL but crushed India in the final of CT . Destroyed the myth of fun cricket helping anything apart from your playlist .

Getting to face the likes of Starc, Buttler, or Rashid Khan for that matter is going to improve your game, regardless of the format.

Lets not forget India has not won a T20 world cup since the inaugural one.

Double edged sword. Works both ways.

Which is why they exclude Pakistan players, they don't want their league to play any part in improving Pakistan's game. They will have a similar policy for Bangladesh players if their team starts threatening India.

4 overs is nothing for a bowler , it’s all about not getting hit for a boundary as most of the time most only bowl 2 overs . In a 10 over spell there is more opportunity to set up batsmen . Not even the IPL but any 20 over game has hindered the art of bowling .

Besides the IPL doesn’t feature any players from the no 1 ranked team . It’s like having a champions league without the mighty Liverpool, no real sports fan would take those achievements seriously

Pakistan is the number one T20 team.

Pakistan is scoring similar scores in England. We scored 348 in our last game.

India has not won a T20 since the Inaugural one.

So no, IPL does not make a major difference.

This would be like trying to describe the colour purple to a blind man so I will decline the opportunity thanks.

May be you should try. Explain why Pakistanis not being allowed in the IPL makes Indians small minded. Except that ot hurts the ego and sense of entitlement that few pakistanis have.

Pakistan is a country of naturally gifted cricketers, even without exposure to quality cricket environment they find a way to win. But they would be even better if they had the resources of the teams back in the days of Imran and Wasim when county cricket and a proper international program helped hone those talents. Obviously the relatively poor results since WOT shows the impact this has over a longer term.

That too after -

Younis who played a maiden and ran out Imran Nazir
Afridi 0(1)
Malik was rusty
Misbah scoop.

Entitilement?

Have you ever heard yourself talking.

I wouldn't be surprise if you do talk to yourself and keep telling yourself that you are better than Pakistani every living waking moment of your life.

Pakistanis think that India owes them something.:jk

Our country, our league and our money. All cricket playing nations are welcome to send their players except the one which refused to send it's players in 2009.

Funny that cricketers from Nepal are getting bucket loads of money and experience in IPL. "Naturally gifted cricketers" from a neighbouring country can shine in PSL.:ds

Pakistan is responsible for the exclusion of our players. We banned our players from participating in IPL 2, much to the disappointment of the franchises.

Prior to IPL 3, PCB came back to its senses and allowed its players to participate. However, the franchises humiliated our players by completely ignoring them in the auction.

The franchises simply couldn’t trust PCB anymore. You cannot build your team around players who may or may not be available depending on PCB’s mood.

In addition, most of our players in this decade haven’t been good enough to play in the IPL anyway, and our players getting ignored in the auction time and time again would have been embarrassing.

Pakistan number one ranking in T20s means nothing unless we beat India in a T20 series.

Yes Pakistan initially may have played their part during periods of hostility, as a fair and neutral observer I can accept neither country is blameless. When countries have periods of poor relations you would expect sport to suffer. The difference is PCB moved past that after a year or two, BCCI is in hoc to it's Hindutva govt which I expect you to ignore as an India apologist. Many Indians themselves including the most famous actor in recent history have agreed with this.

I also expect uber Indian nationalists of joshila nature to present this argument which says it all.

PSL have also given us a lot.....
But unfortunately our selectors greed don't allow it to succeed... e.g:
PSL gave us Umer Khan.... But inzi is trying Yasir.
PSL gave us A Rauf but Inzi ko koun samjaye ga....
PSL gave us Agha Salman but Inzi doesn't know that
We have Saif Badar but inzi is waiting for him to get at least 30 year old
We have Khushdil but Inzi ko kon samjaye

Pakistan number one ranking in T20s means nothing unless we beat India in a T20 series.

Your love for India has made you forget the Indians are scared to play Pakistan in a bilateral series. Would Pakistan winning in your nightmare count in this situation?

Which Pakistanis think India owes them IPL spots? This is your league and you are perfectly to ignore players from Pakistan and Bangladesh. No one has said otherwise. If you don't want anyone to comment as to the reasons behind this then you can request the mods to disallow discussion on the topic.

IPL is the much bigger brand. I have no problem with this at all, no crying from me.

IF....
if Rohit would have stayed liitle bit more
it would have been 400

Off topic. Lol at ‘Even Afghans would’ve scored 300 here’. Come on now, steady. Afghan batting full of pure immature, hacks.

Back to Topic. IPL has certainly done Indian players more good in terms of confidence playing in tight matches, big matches in big crowds every year with most of good, top players of cricket. And it runs for months hence lots of time to chill, socialise with international stars, do certain activities, get to know how others do things, all comes handy. Now Their team has attitude, mentality of old Australian team of 2003-2007.

Your love for India has made you forget the Indians are scared to play Pakistan in a bilateral series. Would Pakistan winning in your nightmare count in this situation?

Oh yes.

They are scared of playing a team that has only beaten them once in T20 cricket.

I don’t agree with BCCI’s stance of not playing bilateral cricket with Pakistan, but our players cannot walk in and out of the IPL based on how PCB is feeling.

Oh yes.

They are scared of playing a team that has only beaten them once in T20 cricket.

Ok Mr India, please explain how Pakistan can beat India in a T20 series if India are not willing to play, in your nightmares?

We should be glad that they are not interested in playing us. The Asia Cup lesson was enough for us to overcome our delusions.

How can Pakistan beat India if India won't play?

Your love for India has made you forget the Indians are scared to play Pakistan in a bilateral series. Would Pakistan winning in your nightmare count in this situation?

What a laughable post ??? But why PAK is not inviting Bangladesh to play them in UAE...Coz its a known fact that Bangladesh will easily devour them...They are no pushover anymore...India is no more the yardstick for Pak as India has left Pak behind for the last 10-12 years...Now Bangladesh should be their yardstick coz for Pak it will be very difficult to defeat even Bangladesh in bilaterals.

How can Pakistan beat India if India won't play?

They can’t, and that is the problem. We cannot claim that we are the best in T20s unless we prove it by beating India.

So, this score is because of the IPL.

How about what Pakistan scored then, which was the same and against a much better, favorite opposition?

And ended up winning as well against the most brutal batting lineup?

Does that mean PSL is faaaar far far ahead of the IPL?

This is where cricketing acumen shows. How you've tried to manipulate and relate things.

Anyways, playing in front of packed PSL and IPL crowds does help in handling pressure situations.

By this logic there's nothing better than the PSL.

England should also prove that they are a stronger team than ZIMBAWE, but how will they prove it as England do not play Zimbawe at all....So Zimbawe is a better team than England, isnt it ??

Isn't that your entire point? You are implying that BCCI is narrow minded for not allowing Pakistani players. They did once. PCB paid them back in a lovely manner.

Oh no I am all for the discussions. Discussions won't suddenly make Pakistani players appear in IPL. But let's make a few things clear.

a) It's a domestic tournament. Pakistan is not entitled to anything.

b) PCB made its bed in 2009. It's about time they and Pak fans lie in it.

They can’t, and that is the problem. We cannot claim that we are the best in T20s unless we prove it by beating India.

You messed up with your quick defence of India, so just admit it. Do not say Pakistan need to beat India in a T20 series when India won't play. With your logic, if Pakistan refuse to play any T20 series against any country, those other nations cannot claim anything because Pakistan won't play them. :)))

Pakistan are no.1 ranked winning many series in a row, Zim are a nothing team. Idiotic comparison :inti

We need to change everything. Not only domestic but also our rotten mentality. Also, cricket needs to return to Pakistan on a full scale ASAP, but that depends on the global image of the country, which continues to get worse and worse.

This is what I was about to convey. It's global image which it is hurting.

Hope imran khan takes right measures. Pak need to spend money on education.

India firmly believes that Pakistan has a very important role in unpleasant events related to 'much serious matters than cricket' with in their territory.Whether there is any truth in it or not is different matter altogether. That being the case, from India's point of view it is only sensible that they would not support any thing that benefits Pakistan cricket in any way.

Pakistan are no.1 ranked winning many series in a row, Zim are a nothing team. Idiotic comparison :inti

Pak are no. 1 ranked coz other teams dont put their strongest eleven.. Pak just lost in SA in their last series....Also If the play India in T20, they will be beaten black and blue...Pak's no. 1 ranking is due to defeating teams like Zimbawe too..Soon this ranking will go away.

Pakistan number one ranking in T20s means nothing unless we beat India in a T20 series.

Why just India?

Pakistan T20 ranking means nothing, but India's ODI and Test ranking does?

Small point you are also forgetting, India is not permitted to play Pakistan, but Pakistan is ready.

Pak are no. 1 ranked coz other teams dont put their strongest eleven.. Pak just lost in SA in their last series....Also If the play India in T20, they will be beaten black and blue...Pak's no. 1 ranking is due to defeating teams like Zimbawe too..Soon this ranking will go away.

I suggest you check their records of series victories which will show you Pak beat more than Zim or are those records all a lie?

This is your opinions as an Indian fan which is understandable.

They can’t, and that is the problem. We cannot claim that we are the best in T20s unless we prove it by beating India.

Why don't you apply the same logic in reverse, India cannot justify their ranking unless they play Pakistan.

Agree? Of course you will not.

Again your smearing campaign against Pakistan has been exposed.

If Pakistan refuses to play T20s against any team, then that means that Pakistan no longer has a T20 team, which means that they no longer count.

However, India is the strongest T20 side in the world. Pakistan have cannot claim to the best unless they beat them.

India is better than Pakistan, so they don’t have to beat us to prove their superiority. Similarly, they don’t have to beat us in a Test series to prove that they are number one.

This is what I was about to convey. It's global image which it is hurting.

Hope imran khan takes right measures. Pak need to spend money on education.

Our global image has taken a hit and continues to do so because of our army. Imran Khan cannot do anything on this front. Our foreign policy is responsible for our image, and it is dictated by the military to serve their interests.

It not Pak's headache even if other international teams send their U 15 teams for T20 series. By the way Pak has probably tried same if not more number of players in T20s than other teams. You can do some research on it. England's no 1 ranking in ODI and India's no1 ranking in test will also go away as nothing is permanent and teams go through ups and downs so whats your point?

His logic and opinions are too easy to expose. The reason why he continues to ramble on is damage control.

This one takes the biscuit lol

There is nothing to suggest any T20 league helps teams in the 50 over format apart from finding new players. The great players are able to adapt to all formats.

Totally true. Unfortunately, we like to live in denial.

So if India refuse to play Pakistan , it means India are better but if Pakistan refuses to play India(alone) , India are still better. :)))

Keep it coming.

A stronger team does not have to beat a weaker team to prove that it is stronger.

IPL has done India more good than other comparable leagues, but it is not because of the quality of cricke tin the IPL. It is the obscene amount of money made by the IPl, which is then reinvested to improve indian cricket, to improve facilities etc, which leads to a stronger team in the long run, which is seen today.

After all, there is pretty much only one game to play if you are an indian. There isnt alot of competition provided by other games, and there is alot of money in cricket in India due to the IPL, which leads to more people becoming cricketers.

India is better than Pakistan, so they don’t have to beat us to prove their superiority. Similarly, they don’t have to beat us in a Test series to prove that they are number one.

India does have to prove they are number 1 by playing Pakistan because Pakistan has a better H2H record with India. None of this matters anyway since you admit your logic and opinion favours India, heck any opinion as long as Pakistan is not praised or projected in positive light.

Your views are not only inconsistent, but hypocritical, and symptomatic of an individual who is an intellectual fraud suffering from dysthymia, insecurity, and hate. You will not admit it, but real Doctors can diagnose your suffering just by reading your online drivel.

From now on I will be referring you as Mogambo, Mogambo Mamoon, not because it has a ring to it, but because you are indeed, Mr. India.

For the record, hard line Indians preaching Hindutva are better men than you, and deserve more of my time on the forums. I may not agree with them, but at least they are not ashamed of their identity or creed and will defend their country rain, sleet, or shine.

:19:

A team refuses to play another but can still claim to be stronger in your world :)))

More please .

Had India refused to play in the Asia Cup, you would have been adamant that a Kohli-less India would get devoured by Pakistan.

I think it is time for you to face the reality - India is operating at a different level to Pakistan in all three formats.

Yes Pakistan can beat them in one-off games, but if both teams play 10 matches in each format, India are guaranteed to win at least 7/8 matches in each format.

In every format, India beats Pakistan to a pulp in man to man comparison.

Let me summarize the difference between the two sides:

India is an elite team that can perform like a mediocre team every once in a while.

Pakistan is a mediocre team that can perform like an elite team once in a while.
