I don't know what exactly our players are trying to do

Lol saw some of the comments on youtube just ignore them they want to be acknowledged.

Is our champions trophy strategy bat slow for 40 overs and then make it up in 10?

Traditionally there are two types of approaches by pakistan in ODI cricket and really nothing in between.

One is come out guns blazing with an aggressive opener and look for as many early runs as possible before slowing down in the middle overs and then repeating at death

OR

conserve wickets and bat slow and if 100 runs can be acheived in the first 25 overs then just tick away and look to go hard in the last 10

the problem with the second strategy is that 1) it never works and 2) we dont have any finishers other than kamran akmal so how are we supposed to make up for batting at a run rate of 4 the entire innings by blazing in the last 10 innings if we have no finishers?

this is the most boring and spineless brand of batting imaginable and i can only think of one guy who thought of this plan (misbah)

sorry but we aren't winning anything by doing this. we wont even get past the group stage.... too many tailenders too few allrounders and just too many tuk tuk batsman

Seriously guys, where are your bats? Your current line up is awful...

Not long before the Misbah haters come out eh. If you had actually played Cricket in England you would understand that its a green seaming wicket in the middle of May, not easy to bat on by ay means.

These are merely trial games, nothing more nothing less. Don't know why you guys are getting so hyped ...

Umar and Shezad should have been the first picked regardless of form. I don't know why you guys are so content with replacing talented players with aging mediocrity.

misbah dislikes them both , especially Shezhad, i doubt you will ever see Shezhad under a misbah captaincy. He was dropped as soon an misbah was made captain for "non cricketing reasons" which are yet to be explained and only made his comback under a hafeez captaincy

Haris Sohail is another great player who has been dominating domestic cricket yet has only managed to be water boy for more than half a year.

Misbah's greatest fault is he goes for "experience" even if the experience is crap

really? cause these matches were played just days ago in england in the yorkshire 40 overs matches and they seem to be putting up 250 + with ease in 40 overs

i guess it must be all the pitches pakistan bats on

Farhat, Malik and Shafiq wouldn't make it into any other international team in the world and that's including Bangladesh. Shafiq has proven himself to be a talented player in tests but his style doesn't suit the shorter formats.

farhat we all know his story. this is a man who has "declared war" when he has been dropped

Malik once apon a time was a good FTB odi player. He has done okay recently but after a year of crap, but Misbah really likes him . Similar story with Shafiq. He deserves this chance in odis but personally i feel this is his last chance

i know its a cruel thing to say but i hope farhat gets injured so we can get Umar akmal or Haris sohail in

Lol all three are international quality players and would walk into a few international sides.

The rain is strange, more like Wasim Bhais new ball bowling, just cannot read it :)

Both Hafeez and Asad should be looking to bat most of the inns and score heavily here

You guys do realise Farhat had hit 4 50s and a 47 in his last 8 games before this tour? He also scored 93 to take us home in SA, if you don't like him fair enough but seriously he's in the side on merit.

How can you be considered international quality when you average less than 30 and that too for a top order batsmen. Shafiq can improve but atm he wouldn't get into any team. Farhat is rubbish any one can see that by the way he bats. As for Malik you just can't see him scoring a hundred.

If you watched each one of those innings you'd understand he doesn't deserve to be in the team. Those stats don't show everything.

That doesn't take away 13 years of crap

The averages of the current Pakistani batters are really sad to read (Misbah and Jamshed the exception). We used to have guys who were close to 40 if not above it. Ijaz, Yousuf, Inzi, Saeed even Salim Malik in the same team.

Now most of the current players average less than 30 or barely above it, such a sorry read. I used to compare the average stats when Pakistan would play other teams and it was so much fun to see that we averaged more.

You know I watched all of these innings, the 93 was a great anchor-roled innings

This team is here for one big jolly outing - they have no inclination to mount any sort of challenge for the trophy - first round exit on the cards!!

Wasim, Moin, Azhar, Razzaq, Afridi and Amir Sohail in the same team meant we had so many all rounders. Agreed that none of them are like Kallis but still, they were all handy and useful.

Gosh, really miss watching Wasim bhai bowl

Farhat had a pretty poor run but he's come back a much stronger batsman than before ... Shoaib Malik on the other hand would walk into NZ's side as a spinner alone (LOL McCullum is your spinner, averages 19 with the bat and 50 with the ball).

The only thing this team cannot be blamed for is lack of commitment. Skill wise this set of players lack a lot but they have shown that they are committed. As long as that is true, defeat does not matter. Its the lack of intent and politics within the team that really annoys me

Meh he's economical in the middle overs, he's not picked as an all rounder hes seen as a spinner who can bat a bit.
