2024 T20 World Cup is 3rd time the charm for Pakistan

Semi-finalist in 2021 vs Australia
Finalist in 2022 vs England
2024, can Pakistan make it count and be crowned champions, this is the question

You would think, by having a crack at it a 3rd time, it may just be Pakistan Year, however it will come down to a lot of things, team selection, playing the right combination for the conditions and opponents, form, injuries, a bit of luck and etc...

Familiar faces should still make their way into the team (Shaheen, Haris, Fakhar, Naseem, Rizwan and etc...) could be that some familiar faces can be dropped too due to injury or just bad form

Regardless who ever ends up making the squad of 15 and more importantly the playing 11, I hope will be for Pakistan's best interest and that we can finally make it count. Pakistan will not be favorites, but should gain some momentum and confidence from the previous 2 tournaments

For me squad selection, playing the right combination and good captaincy will be crucial

Regardless looking forward to see what we can do come world cup time

Best of Luck Pakistan, You have 6 months to figure it out

The Pak tour of NZ will be the firdt indication of the teams direction followed by PSL. I think PSL will be cruciel to see which players can be drafted in the squad.

T20 world cup fixtures announced, Pakistan in the same group as India, Canada, USA, and Ireland. Pak should come out of this group and move on to next round (super 8) need to make that round count to progress to Semis. Can Pakistan make it count this year

Yes, InshaAllah. We could have won in 2021 and 2022 had a couple of things gone our way, namely the dropped catches and toss.

This is the squad we should take:

1) Babar Azam
2) Muhammad Rizwan (wk)
3) Saim Ayub
4) Muhammad Haris
5) Azam Khan
6) Iftikhar Ahmed
7) Shadab Khan
8) Aamir Jamal
9) Shaheen Afridi (c)
10) Naseem Shah
11) Haris Rauf

12) Mohammad Wasim jnr
13) Abrar Ahmed
14) Abdullah Shafique
15) Mohammad Nawaz

Babar and Rizwan get around 40-50 runs in the powerplay and then it's pedal to the metal due to a very deep batting lineup.

In the bowling department, Shadab finding his form is key and then we have quality four fast bowlers and Iftikhar.

Azam Khan is fat, let's be honest, and he should be subbed by a fielder every time we bowl second but he has a lot of experience of Carribean and North American conditions and will have a key role to play.

If Pakistan is to win a World Cup

They have to avoid Australia in a crunch game.

Shoaib Malik said on The Pavilion that the Florida pitches behaved quite slow and low when he's played there in CPL. So the conditions may suit us more compared to Australia last time out.

2021, the dropped catch might have cost us, but even if catch was taken, Australia still could have won the match, they bat deep, however 2022, was a bigger loss, since you were in the finals, had Pakistan batted more sensible, we could have won, imo, we finished with 137 which was never going to be enough, we didnt need a 200 score, but 155-165ish score would have given a better chance and put preassure in on the opposition. Haris, went for a big shot, but need to bat sensible, Shan threw it away, and Chacha, played out a maiden over only to get out.

However I do think this time around, we can make it happen. but we have to select the right players and merit, and get the right team selection, I think US and Winidies conditions will suit our players more, and some of them having experience playing in CPL as well.

Pretty Much this, however I would love to see Pakistan beat Australia in knockout would be satisfying for sure, but will be realistic wouldnt see that happening

Pakistan even with its strongest teams will falter against mediocre Australian sides in a big game

Saim Ayub
Fakhar Zaman
Mohammad Haris
S.Malik
Ifthikar Ahmad
Azam Khan
Amir Jamal
Shaheen Afridi
Naseem Shah
Ihsanullah
Abrar Ahmed

Good luck winning the world cup with heavenly pair of RizBar opening & "building a solid foundation". 👊

Alot of questions for Pak team after T20 series vs NZ, Pak really need Naseem back, once he is back and if he is bowling the way he is capable off will help Paks bowling alot

Once again Pak will have to make sure the right players are selected for this years World cup, another big issue is the middle order and of course a good spinner pak should take a risk and go with maybe an unknown good spinner can maybe be an x factor for Pak.

I don't think that Pakistan is going anywhere with such team and performances. This is not gonna be easy. Either it is the luck or the team comes back to life somehow.

After the conclusion of PSL and some indications of how the squad can look how do you guys feel now...can 2024 be the year Pakistan wins the t20 world cup

T20 is about a bit of luck. Be in the right group, catch a couple of team on their bad day. Boom.

With Babar Azam being the captain again this now also can ask....will the 3rd time be the charm for Babar Azam as Pakistan Captain to lift the t20 world cup trophy

Pakistan has a very good chance this year. They have the right players and the depth of experience is a big strength.

The team will leave behind gillay shikway and rise to the occasion.

Pakistan really should have won in 2021 and 2022.

But the bowling choked against Warner and Wade in 2021.

And the batting was shocking in the previous final.

This is a format that suits all PAK players' strengths.

I hope so, we need to make sure the right 15 players are selected and the right 11 are selected for each match based on condition, form and opponent

2021 maybe.

2022 absolutely not, the whole tournament was us riding on kudrat ki nizam.

Secondly the format is different. 2024 has super 8 stages where we will be facing sena.

2022 all we needed to qualify to semi's was come top 2 in a group composed of India, Pakistan, Sa, Bangaldesh, Nedtherlands and Zimbabwe.

We never had to face Australia, England, NZ or Afghanistan (their bowling would have given us problems)

Yes exactly even if Pak won semi finals in 2021 no gurantee we would win final either

2022 we had things go our way and made the finals, but once your in a final its a golden chance and we blew it but like you mentioed prior to the finals we did not have tough bowling like England, Australia anf Afgahnistan etc..

The super 8 format does make it harder like you said since more SENA teams to play

2021 format didn't have super 8's either.

2021 required 2 victories out of 3 to qualify for semi's, And our group was Nz, Afghanistan and India. We played well against India and NZ, Got lucky against Afghanistan.

Australia we chocked, but the 2021 format was basically just win a few games and you're golden.

2022 was the same.

Every time Pakistan has to face long hauls against every team like the world cup format where we face every team 1x, we get butchered and exposed.

And 2024 is the exact same format. In 2024 group stages are easy, only India is an issue but usa, Canada and Ireland isn't am issue.

Super 8 stage however has us face every team that qualifies except for India as their in our group. But we face NZ, Sa, Afg, Aus, Eng, and one other team from Sri lanka, west Indies or bang atleast once.

Longer form tournaments always expose us.

No we don't. The super 8s are not a round robin format. It's divided into 2 groups of 4. We need to win just 2 games

We're facing 3 teams, guarantee one of them is Australia.

It's possible. We have to win 2/3 in any case. It's t20, anyone can win on their day. Plus by that stage of the tournament we would know our combination and which players are in form.

West Indies wickets support Asian conditions.. so I think Pakistan could have a better chance here to at least reach the finals

Group exit. A humiliation against Ireland or Canada. Would be well deserved.

It depends if they can catch. Sounds ridiculous but if they carry on dropping catches like they have been doing in the OZ series and PSL then group exit.

If third time was the charm than India would had won 5, oh wait.......

You never know. Pakistan team is pretty unpredictable with their performance. They can loose to Zimbabwe 1 day and can beat India on very next day. Can't write this team off for sure.

The team is shaping up to be a strong day still really early to say but it will come down to squad selection and how babar captains....it is still the question on my mind is the 3rd time a charm for Pakistan

PCB religious believes in the law of averages. No wonder you keep seeing the same set of officials, players, captains, coaches etc etc keep making comebacks after failing repeatedly.

You fail so many times with such a strong team, you are bound to succeed once. :inti

If it was, i dia would had won something by now.

Bro I don't get you?

You hate indian fans and indian cricket team with a genuine passion, quoting icc events, but in asia cup which is a mini event they consistently win and beat us.

We won In 2017 but you've gone on record constantly bashing the 2017 team due to it being led by sarfraz or undermining it saying that it was run by psl superstars and misbah didn't have that luxury, even though when misbah came back as a coach he still ignored psl superstars and brought Mohammad irfan back lol.

You even claimed sarfi is going the akmal route and I've read your comments pre 2017 aka pre champions trophy where you've bashed the team on end or just remained quiet.

If you discount sarfi, the last time we won anything was in 2009 which is even further back then India, and you hate YK too, so we now go back to 1992.

Like bro make up your mind, you quote 2017 as a one up victory against indian fans but bash the team in front of pakistani fans and even make threads trash talking YK or comments trash talking sarfraz?

To be brutally frank - no chance of pak winning the t20wc. And that goes for other SC teams too - Ind will take its old tuk tuk seniors again and lose , ban sl and afg lack the ability. These teams just play an outdated form on t20 cricket with " par" scores nonsense. And Klrahul plays t19 and not t20 as he plays a maiden over to " see what the par score should be "

Look at how aus eng sa wi play t20s.. no tuk tuk statpadding. Go for it from ball one. They should be the 4 SF teams

SINCE THAT FATEFUL FINAL. PAKISTAN HAVE DETERIORATED IMMENSELY. PLAUGED BY NEPOTISM AND FRIENDSHIPS IN SELECTING PLAYERS. IMAGINE A 400LB PLAY IS PICKED. HE IS A LIABILITY ANYWHERE IN THE FIELD. PAKISTAN WILL HAVE AN EARLY EXIT HOME.
