Is anyone else worried by Yasir Shah's lack of spin?

Expectations of him running through sides in the 4th innings have often not come true .
Infact his record may not be all that better in the 4th innings to all 3 other imnings of a test match which is a complete contrast to other spinners .
He has never been a big spinner.of the ball and that has been his major issue in various forms of the game because he has fantastic control for a leg spinner

I agree he does have excellent control but he may have to sacrifice a little control to put more revs on the all.

Yasir 4th innings stats look fine to me.

But they do show Zulfi has been just as good in 4th innings. Same average and wickets per innings.

Pakistan missing Zulfi. He was very good in 3rd and 4th innings.

Those stats are before this match excluding Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

If you guys have noticed hes bowling alot slower now in order to get more purchase from the surface (which he is definitely getting) but the problem is he is getting slow turn which is not effective and the batsmen have enough time to react on it moreover he is not turning it massive either so again its not gonna work for him , i think he should start bowling quickly like he used to in the past and bowls with in his limitation like Anil Kumble , I am pretty sure he will be successful then.

Misbah is to be blamed for how he kept setting the same field for Yasir. No protection on the off made him leak many runs. A spinner can't do much without the support of his captain.

His lack of control comes from not knowing how he will get his wickets. He can't spin the ball enough to beat the inside edge of the left handers and doesn't have a googly to beat the outside edge. I do agree that he needs to go back to basics and bowl with control and wait for mistakes.

Yep. This isn't the UAE, the spinner in the first two innings of the match needs to keep it tight and support the seamers. Any wickets he picks up are just a bonus.

Even Shane Warne, who knew these pitches better than anybody, averaged over 30 in the first and second innings of tests in Australia. The difference between him and Yasir is he managed to keep the run rate down which helped McGrath, Gillespie and co. at the other end.

His bowling average has jumped from 23 in England to 29+ now!! Sydney should be a better hunting place for him but the trip down under hasn't been good so far for Yasir.

Yasir has played enough FC cricket to know what field he wants, and that will depend on how he thinks he will take his wickets. At the moment, he doesn't know how he will get people out.

From what I have seen in this match, Yasir is nearly finished as an international bowler. The guy offers nothing but a straight ball.

Well that will be too early to call but his lack of spin is concerning.

Time will tell but unless the leg spinner comes back,the straight one is useless. This effectively takes away any for him to take wickets.

I haven’t seen too much of him lately but I caught a little bit this morning and again I felt that something was wrong. There was one that spun and got a wicket but for a leggie the ball wasn’t spinning. Did I catch him on a bad day or Was my small sample accurate

Their part time leggie was more threatening and spun it more than Yasir.

No idea why sarfraz persists with him but he has been outbowled by all the other spinners involved

Mickey could opt for the UK strategy with Shadab being the premier spinner.

On the other hand spinners do not play a huge role in SA so if he keeps one end tight that would not be bad. He always picks some leg before wickets anyway.
