How do we beat it? Seems like so many people are just dying and losing the battle to this illness.

H1N1 traced to 1918 pandemic
A young man with underlying condition has more chance of losing the battle than an elderly with good health
It is a case to case basis. Elderly are in riskier side because with age, underlying causes become more frequent than younger ones.
It's not just underlying conditions that increases risk, as you get older your immunity system gets weaker. There's a huge difference in the immunity of a 20 year old and a 60 year old.
Italy has the highest death rate right now and it's mainly cause of 3 reasons
1. Old population
2. Widespread smoking addiction
3. Ischemic heart disease among the elderly

What is immunity? Why immune system gets weak?
- underlying causes (it doesn't mean only diseases).
No.
Please dont spread such stuff around. Keep all old people out of harms way and keep them indoors and isolated until this threat is over
Yes theres a higher chance of dying but in no way is it a death sentence for the elderly
Theres a good majority that survive it of who you dont hear about
Older people are more likely to die from this virus. It is why they need more attentions.
I don't want to call it a death sentence but it is very dangerous for them.

I don't know where i advocated of elderly people coming out of house
The question is, is it a death sentence for elderly people? The answer is, as in every other disease, case to case basis.
No two human bodies are same and hence, affect of any alien substance/organism will be different.
Probability goes higher in case of elderly people but that doesn't constitute as a death sentence.
On the contrary, people suffering from auto immune disease, transplanted organs will have even higher probability than elderly people regardless of age.
My point is dont take it lightly.
Of course EVERYTHING is case by case but far too many lives are being lost because elders are taking it easy thinking they exercise regularly etc and will be fine.
