Is it possible for a child born in a poor family in Pak to become rich if he/she works hard enough?

We always think contacts get you anywhere in Pakistan - but is this still true?

Only if you have exceptional talent like Hasan and Hussain Nawaz who were billionaires before they hit puberty... Am I right?

Of course it's possible. Even more so in a country which is developing => therefore all industries have the potential for rapid growth.

However, does Pakistan give its poor the best chance to succeed and move up the ladder? Unfortunately, no.

Through hard work alone, very unlikely, but if you know someone famous/have exceptional talent and go on to become famous/are corrupt then it's possible, but for the average person born into a poor family, highly unlikely hence I voted very little possibility.

First you have to define what is meant by hard work. Hard work is such a vague term when using it in the context of Pakistani society or any third world country.

The poor in Pakistan already have to "work hard" to sustain themselves. They can't survive without the "hard work" they put in everyday. While others don't have to move a finger and find themselves surrounded by luxuries.

As Zahid87 pointed out there is no proper system in place to appreciate and reward the hard work and the talent of those less well off. A seed can't grow into a huge tree, bearing juicy fruits when a fertile soil is missing to begin with. Without the proper structure no hard work and talent would ever truly flourish.

Besides I find it is far too materialistic to equate hard work with getting rich. Again being "rich" in Pakistan itself is not something well defined. Some would consider themselves rich when they are able to pay all their bills and eat three times a day, while others still can't have enough money despite having millions in bank. So a poor guy breaking his back and working hard day and night might consider himself "rich" if he is able to provide a proper education for his kids, while for an outside observer he still might be "poor".

Almost impossible in Pakistan. They'd need to be very lucky or have the patronage of somebody successful/influential.

Hard work alone won't suffice. You gotta have contacts at the right places. Somewhat need luck too.

My uncle, he just to cut wood along with his father in order to meet their daily life expenses and study.

And today he is a docter in Germany.

My another relative whose father died after 2,3 years of his birth. His mother used to stitch clothes of people in order to earn money and now that dude is a Judge in court.

And if i see my example it's same father supported me till matriculation and i studied at govt school so there wasn't much expenses then but he was unable to support me after matric so i started working as a waiter in a local hotel i studied studied studied and now i am working in ABC XYZ atomic energy lab.

And there are many many many examples.

If you want to do something then no can stop you.
