The PCB has potentially left itself open to a situation whereby other boards will demand Pakistan's upcoming series to be held in the UAE again as the players don't trust the sanctity of the bubble in Pakistan.

Is the resumption of this year's PSL more important than the return of international cricket to Pakistan?

We need to get on with it now. For the future, PCB should plan and always keep 1/2 back up venues lined up.

When you have people like Javed Afridi to handle, even New Zealand may not be a safe option

Agreed that Javed Afridi is a big clown who’s only after publicity. How can someone in his position be openly allowing bubble breaches, he even went and took selfies with the “pawri girl” during a psl match. The most incompetent bunch running the PSL and PCB.

New Zealand won’t have this problem cause people actually follow the rules here rather than making excuses and thinking they are above the law.

It is the right decision because Wasim and Mani do not have the competence and the leadership to host the PSL in Pakistan during the pandemic.

They goofed it up two times in two years, the situation in Pakistan in Feb-Mar was not bad at all. If they had a semblance of intelligence, the PSL would have been completed smoothly.

Blaming Javed Afridi and the brand ambassadors is pointless. The blame lies with the authorities. It is human nature to break rules and not follow SOPs when there is no one to keep an eye on them.

I have seen doctors violate SOPs in hospitals under no supervision, let alone celebrities in a cricket tournament.

There was no proper bubble in the PSL to begin with. The whole arrangement was extremely casual and lax from day one. It was a ticking time bomb.

It was the failure of Wasim and Mani and if the so-called reformed and revamped PCB had any transparency and accountability, both would have been shown the door.

Anyway, Wasim Khan will run back to the UK when his contract expires. Good riddance.

Wrong on both accounts.

We saw what happened in IPL - ostensibly the best league in the world - the less said the better about that.

What is commendable is the following

1. Mani/Wasim acted responsibly and quickly to stop the tournament
2. They have managed to get it going with less drama.

If anything both deserve praise.

The level of indiscipline and incompetency was shown by PCB and owners of PSL recently, its the right call. Any "normal" board would have organized in its own country , unless the covid situation was like India, but asking "normal" thing to be done from PCB, is a bit too much.

It was a good decision to not host it in Pakistan. Whether it was scrapped altogether or played in the UAE, I would not have minded, but the good thing about the latter is that it gives some entertainment to fans in these uncertain times.

I also don't think it will set a backwards or wrong precedent for the future to play this cricket in the UAE, as other have suggested. It's a one-off solution for a one-off global pandemic.

What's imperative is that the tournament is carried out smoothly, with strict protocols and zero hiccups. Anything less will be yet another massive embarrassment for the PCB.

"competence and the leadership to host the PSL in Pakistan during the pandemic. "

One can only laugh at your logic and bias. Your Super Najam Sethi Man didn't had the same competence
even without Pandemic. BTW same man who was competent enough to recognize big three immediately and getting Pakistan cricket isolated by India in return.

The same man who didn't had the money for Kookubur balls and under whom Domestic cricket was played among 16 club-level pathetic quality teams on green tops with third-grade locally made balls.

As long as Abu Dhabi is safe, it's the right decision. Pakistan is not 100 percent safe.

Hope PCB have planned things well. Cannot afford another postponement.

Who should replace Wasim Khan and why?

It is right decision considering the vaccination record that UAE enjoys.
Another fact :
I can tell you Abu Dhabi has really controlled spread of Covid-19 very well. I drive to Abu Dhabi twice a week and need to take test at the border (it takes 10 minutes and results are instantaneous on your mobile via sms) before they allow you to enter Abu Dhabi.
Excellent arrangements - only issue will be the temperature and humidity

Former chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Zaka Ashraf, while talking to Daily Express, spoke against organising the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season six in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The 68-year-old believed that the situation in Pakistan was now in control.

“The PSL should have been organised in Pakistan. The coronavirus situation seems to be in control now in the country. The shifting of the event will create problems in holding matches in Pakistan in the future,” Ashraf said.

The PSL season six was postponed after just 14 matches after the rise in coronavirus cases in Pakistan. The event was initially planned to resume from June 1 in Karachi and would have concluded on June 20. However, after the insistence of the franchises, successful efforts were made to move the event to Abu Dhabi.

The former chairman claimed that moving the event to the UAE was a wrong move and would affected international cricket’s return to Pakistan.

“This was a wrong move. The PSL should have been completed in Pakistan. Holding the event in the UAE will not be beneficial while causing harm to the process of the complete resumption of cricket in the country. Due to the efforts of the army, peace was restored in Pakistan and grounds once again hosted cricket matches. International teams were coming to Pakistan without any fear but now they might be more hesitant coming here on the future,” he said.

“The situation in Pakistan is not that bad. I don’t see why the matches could not be held here. Maybe, because of the last two failures in the bio-secure bubble, the management did not want to host the event here. They should hold the PSL in various cities of the country so that more people can enjoy the sport,” he concluded.

Well I hope that the matches get going soon - still no news of the schedule.

Schedule to be announced tomorrow.

PCB weren't left with many options really. Seemed like it was UAE or bust.

PCB should use ICC Academy grounds for PSL

With the heat going on UAE, the best choice for PSL is to have double headers at night. They should play games simultaneously like it used to be happen in World Cups back in the day and host the other game at the next door ground in Abu Dhabi which is ICC Academy ground. It is an international standard even though a bit too small but should work for PSL.

So news today of further issues with Indian broadcasters and frantic meetings between PCB and franchises ....
